“William was took care of our dogs and was intentional about making sure they had what they needed. He sent a video each day he had them and was great to talk to. Plenty of space for the pups and kids to play with them. We are grateful and would definitely work with him again!”

“Melissa was so great with our Rory! She sent frequent updates with pictures which showed how well taken care of (and happy) our dog was with her. Drop off and pick up were a breeze too. Highly, highly recommend!”

“If you want your pup to feel like they're at a home away from home - book with Tina. She and her family (two young children who will entertain your dog endlessly) will provide a loving environment with lots of play and attention. I boarded my 7 year old pit mix for several days and he felt right at home immediately. Tina was great sharing photos and videos of Lincoln playing in the fenced in back and taking lots of walks (I think he thought twice about coming back home :)). So happy I found her.”

About: I’ve cared for dogs of all ages and sizes, treating each one like my own. From playful pups to senior snuggle bugs, I want your pets to feel safe, loved, and happy. I am a speech therapist at a skilled nursing facility who works close to home. I have a flexible schedule, allowing me to give your pet and mine plenty of attention and care. Plus, a loving family member is always home for extra company! I create a calm, loving environment with lots of play, cuddles, and routine. Whether in my home or yours, I follow your pet’s schedule to keep them happy and comfortable. Available for meet and greet by Mary Jane Davies park prior to pet boarding. As a personal preference, we don’t do meet & greets in the home and don’t take more than one dog (unless it’s from the same family, 2 max). Big on sending updates and pictures.
“I left my elderly Little Lady with Anny during a family emergency and she was able to help out on such short notice. Anny bought snacks for Reina and kept her fed and very happy :) Anny let me know everyday how happy and secure Reina was. I knew she was with an amazing and loving family for the weekend. They even left me with the most beautiful Valentines day basket afterwards with a custom blanket and printed photos! Literally could not have asked for a better situation ❤️😊”

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for about 5 years, and over that time I’ve also helped look after dogs for family and friends whenever they needed someone they could trust. I’m a very caring, patient, and detail-oriented person, and I genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs and getting to know their different personalities. When a dog stays with me, I want them to feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for — and I want their owners to feel the same peace of mind. I always keep owners updated with lots of photos and videos, so even while you’re traveling, you’ll know your pup is getting plenty of love and attention. Caring for dogs is an important part of my daily life, and it’s something I genuinely enjoy. Right now, pet care is my full-time focus, which means I have the time, energy, and flexibility to give dogs lots of attention throughout the day. I’m also pet CPR certified, and I always do my best to provide a safe, loving, and attentive environment for every pup staying with me. I live in a clean and well-kept apartment and do our best to create a calm, safe, and comfortable environment for dogs in our care. I also have a 3-year-old Border Collie who is very sweet, gentle, and full of positive energy. He has done very well with other dogs and has enjoyed spending time and playing with them. Throughout the day, I make sure dogs get regular potty breaks, outdoor time, and time to relax and settle in comfortably at home. After coming back inside, I clean their paws to help keep them clean and comfortable while also maintaining a tidy living space. I also pay attention to brushing and overall cleanliness so dogs can feel comfortable during their stay. Most importantly, I pay close attention to each dog’s comfort level, personality, and interactions to help maintain a safe and positive environment for everyone.

“Iliana is caring, kind, and responsive. She's very accommodating with scheduling and logistics before boarding (doesn't mean you could abuse her kindness!). Main reason I chose her is that she has abundant experience taking care of dogs with separation anxiety and stays at home a lot of time. I'm so glad that my anxy baby could enjoy the company of her family and Iliana’s friendly puppy. My dog is a massive attention seeker and Iliana knows how to handle it well. Her puppy is also very well-behaved and could be separated by fence if your dog doesn't like hanging out with other doggies. Drop off and pick up were super smooth and she was quick with text responses all the time. Would highly recommend!”

“Kristin was super flexible and professional accommodating my last-minute booking for a 14 day stay! She regularly communicated with me via Whatsapp while I was abroad, and followed my detailed feeding/care instructions. I was really appreciate and felt at ease with her care. Would recommend and book her again in the future!”

“2nd time having Jana watch our pup but this time for a longer stay (7 days) and we were able to enjoy our vacation knowing she'd be in good hands. We appreciated the daily photos and loved seeing nori was safe and content while we were away. Will definitely book with Jana again the next time we need a sitter!”

“Denis was the absolute perfect sitter for Mowgli! I was very nervous to be leaving him with strangers for the first time while on vacation for a whole week, as he’s typically a very anxious cat. But Denis was super communicative throughout the entire process and really put my mind at ease. He sent texts and photo updates every day and made sure to check in about how Momo was doing. If you are looking for someone who specifically understands and appreciates cat temperaments and needs, I highly recommend Denis! I think Mowgli had a better vacation than I did. I will certainly be booking with him again for any future cat sitting needs!”

“Adriana has cared for my puppy multiple times and she is consistently amazing. Ollie is a nervous dog but she does a fantastic job of helping him feel secure and relaxed. Adriana sends photos daily and is very responsive to all communication. She is always number one on my list when I need a sitter!!!”

“We had an amazing experience leaving our puppy with Thoselin. She used to send me daily updates during her long term stay. In addition, she followed a very good schedule and genuinely cared about her. Our puppy had a really great time with her and came back calm and happy.”

“Dan was absolutely amazing with our dog Karley. From the moment we left, she kept us consistently updated with messages, photos, and check-ins, which gave us total peace of mind while we were away. It’s not easy trusting someone with your pet, but Dan made it effortless. Her communication was top-notch, and it was clear Karley was not only well cared for, but genuinely comfortable and happy. We had zero worries the entire time, and that says everything. I would highly recommend Dan to anyone looking for someone reliable, attentive, and truly caring. We will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Last minute booking and I’m so happy they were able to take care of my baby boy! Thank you so much taking him in, keeping him safe and happy. If I could give you 10 stars I would. Thank you again”

“Liming took such wonderful care of our cats, Tiwdew and Shiny, while we were away on a trip. She was communicative throughout, sending updates and photos that put our minds at ease every step of the way. Both cats were happy, healthy, and clearly well looked after when we got home -you could tell they’d been given real attention and care, not just the basics. Liming is reliable, trustworthy and genuinely loves animals. We’d book with her again and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring pet sitter!”

“I can not praise Vanessa enough. I had a quick out of town trip and my usual sitter cancelled the day before i was scheduled to leave. I found Vanessa, and she was wonderful. Not only accommodating and calming - she answered all my questions with grace, understanding it was stressful. ( i may well be overbearing when it comes to my puppy) She sent me photos, and kept me up to date with Aubreys progress. Vanessa is a 5 star sitter, and i will now call her first when i need to have someone look after Aubrey. Thank you Vanessa!”
“Kelsie was an exceptional babysitter to my Gabby. She was very responsive and professional. My Dog was very happy and I greatly appreciated her communication and sending of videos. I would definitely use her to babysit my dog again and highly recommend her services.”

“We left our senior German Shepherd with Veronica for an overnight and the whole experience was great. She sent updates and pictures and was quick to reply to text messages. Our boy seemed happy and well taken care of when we picked him up. We’ll definitely be using her services again in the future!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Great Neck
Lawrence is super friendly and clearly very knowledgable and experienced with cats. We knew from the start that our cat Gambit would be in good hands. He is so easy to work with, especially for first time cat parents being away for the first time. Gambit felt comfortable around him immediately and looked right at home! We truly appreciated the updates which included photos and videos as well. We were at ease traveling knowing that Gambit was safe with Lawrence. We are so grateful and highly recommend Lawrence! I know Gambit had a blast and can’t wait to be back lol

Katelyn and Daniel are absolutely amazing! They really saved the day! To cut a long story short, my original dog sitter, whom I had booked months in advance for my trip, canceled on Leela at the last minute. When she met Leela, she said Leela was barking too much and that her apartment situation wasn't suitable for a vocal dog like Leela. My husband and I rushed to find another sitter and found Katelyn. We reached out to her about our upcoming trip and asked if they could take care of Leela for a week. We were completely honest with them about Leela’s behavior and boarding requirements, and they were incredibly understanding and accommodating. They met Leela and inquired about any specific concerns or instructions I had for her care. Katelyn and Daniel really put my mind at ease while my husband and I were away. We received daily updates from them, and Leela really took a liking to them, which was a pleasant surprise since she can be quite picky about who she likes. Katelyn and Daniel are genuinely nice, responsible, and caring individuals. I will definitely be reaching out to Katelyn and Daniel again!

We are so happy we found Viera! It always feels hard to leave our 15yo dog when we need to travel but Ginger had a great time in Viera's care. Viera and her family are lovely and Ginger enjoyed the human and canine companionship during our absence. She came home happy and relaxed. We will definitely book with Viera again.

We felt very comfortable leaving our puppy with Shan. Her and her family clearly love dogs and sent us many pictures and videos throughout the stay. Our puppy seemed well adjusted when we picked him back up! We plan to have our puppy stay with Shan again when we need a sitter for our fur baby.

Piper and Juno had a fantastic week being cared for by Lisa and Gracie, Juno’s new best friend! Both our dogs were cared for like family, and Lisa shared many pictures and kept us up-to-date throughout the week. We were able to enjoy our vacation, knowing that they were both happy and loved and in great hands. A very kind family to take care of our loved ones.!

We boarded our 1yo dog with Katsumi for 5 nights and couldn’t be happier with the experience. Katsumi was wonderful, clearly loves and cares for dogs and made our boy feel right at home. She was very accommodating to his personality and routine. We’ll definitely be reaching out to Katsumi for future day care and boarding! 💚

I didn't think I would ever be able to trust anyone with my tripod. Emma and her husband were great with Cersei. Cersei immediately attached to them like she knew them forever. They did everything possible to make her feel right at home, as well as ease my mind with constant photo updates, and soothe her upset stomach (which probably came from her separation anxiety). I will definitely be using them again if I ever need someone to sit my fur baby.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
