“John was responsible and reliable. We felt so comfortable leaving our pups and our home in his care. He was super responsive and came to meet the dogs before the care began. Thank you John!”
“Joane was great with our dog, Rosie. She gave us updates, and contacted us appropriately with a question about the house. I have already booked her for another pet sitting with Rosie.”
About: I have over 10 years experience working and taking care of dogs and over 10 years experience taking care of cat. I have three special needs cats myself. I’ve been helping take care of my sisters 10 dogs back home who range in age from puppy to senior senior. Dogs in my care includes: CHF, wheelchair bound, medication management, breathing treatments, expressing, bathing and walking. I recently moved from Cleveland to New York! I have reliable transportation and have a very flexible schedule. I’m not afraid to travel for the right pet and would love a buddy or two to run errands with. I have three dog friendly disabled cats at home. I have two tripods and a blind cat. I have extensive experience with disabled dogs as well, including dogs with cardiac issues, anxiety, wheelchair bound and pet medication management. My sister has 10 dogs of her own, two of which are wheelchair bound, incontinent, and another two with CHF that require daily medications. I always keep the dogs I care for on leash and do not allow others to touch them unless permission is granted by the owner prior. My home is clean and spacious with a wrap around balcony. Access to both cat litter boxes and food are not reachable to other animals besides my cat. I’m very attentive to the needs of others, including the needs of all animals alike. If I can take care and save peoples lives daily, you can have faith I will take amazing care of your loved ones!

“Kevin took great care of my two frenchies while I was travelling. One has special needs and both take a number daily medications and Kevin handled it all perfectly. They also have allergies and special dietary requirements and were happy and healthy when I got home. Kevin kept me updated with cute pictures everyday and was great to work with! My apt was also left neat and tidy! Thanks so much Kevin! Will definitely rebook for our next trip!”

About: Hiya! I’m Bea, a college student with years of hands on experience caring for both dogs and cats. While I don’t currently have pets of my own, I’ve spent most of my life helping care for the pets of friends and neighbors. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I’m usually the person everyone asks to watch their pets when they’re away! What sets me apart is the amount of care and attention I give every animal. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality, routine, and comfort level so they feel safe and happy while you’re away. Whether your pet is energetic and playful or shy and cautious, I’m patient and let them adjust at their own pace. I’m experienced with: - Puppies and kittens - Senior dogs and cats - Large and small dog breeds - Multi pet households - Administering medications (including pills and eye drops) - Feeding, walking, bathing, brushing, cleaning litter boxes and/or pee pads, and playtime - Basic training, including recall and simple commands One of the puppies I currently care for has been with me since she was about 2-3 months old. We’ve worked on recall and basic tricks together, and I love helping young dogs build confidence while making learning fun. During teething, I noticed she had stopped eating her dry food, so after discussing it with her owner, I recommended switching to a softer option and monitored her closely afterward to make sure she adjusted well. I also have experience with senior cats, including caring for an 18 year old cat with vision and mobility changes. I understand that every stage of life comes with different needs, and I’m happy to adapt my care accordingly. When we’re out on walks, I always bring waste bags and water, and I make safety my top priority. At home, I enjoy keeping pets engaged with play, enrichment, cuddles (if they want them!), and plenty of attention. I’m also more than happy to send frequent photo and video updates, because I know how comforting it is to see your pet happy while you’re away. I’m a bit of a neat freak, so you’ll never have to worry about coming home to a mess. I’m happy to clean up after pets and even help with little household tasks like bringing in mail or watering plants if needed. My goal is simple: I want every pet to feel loved, safe, and cared for as if they were my own. I know how much trust it takes to leave your furry family member with someone else, and I take that responsibility very seriously. I can’t wait to meet you and your best friend! As a college student taking one class each weekday morning during the summer, I have a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to your pet. Outside of class, I’m available for walks, drop in visits, daycare, and house sitting. I believe every pet deserves individual attention, so I make sure they get plenty of exercise, playtime, affection, and mental enrichment while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort will always be my top priority. I like to spend the first little while getting to know your pet’s personality and comfort level so I can adjust my care to their individual needs. Every animal is different, and I believe they deserve care that’s personalized rather than having a “one size fits all” ideology. I also take the time to learn each pet’s routine and any special instructions before providing care. During walks, I always bring waste bags and water, pay close attention to my surroundings, and make sure your pet is secure at all times. In your home, I’ll respect your space, keep everything clean, and follow your care instructions closely. I’ll also send regular photo and video updates so you can feel confident knowing your pet is happy and safe.
“Camille was amazing with Fury! They bonded instantly, and the frequent updates kept our minds at ease while we were away. The process was seamless and professional. We’ll definitely work with her again!”

About: I have been a cat owner for over 8 years, super experienced with taking care of cats and love all of them with my heart. Also, I have walked my cousins golden noodle countless times, and he poops over three times on one walk! I personally don’t own a dog but I enjoy hanging out with anyone’s special loved dogs. I am currently working in a kids indoor playground part time. Aside from the days off, I also have availability anytime after 6pm every day. I will make sure to keep all places clean and clean up any mess if needed. Making sure the pet feels safe before engaging any activities with them.
About: Hi there! My name’s Nicole, and I provide dog sitting in your home as well as my own. I love dogs of all sizes and ages, and I'm happy to give baths as well. I have a dog of my own, and any dog I care for will be treated just as well as mine is. I’ll take them on walks, take them to the park and care for them overnight if needed. I'll play with them and give them treats when they're good. I can also train them, as I have experience training a border collie in the past which I did daily. This border collie (Charlie) also had a prosthetic leg, so I was very patient with her on our walks. My schedule can be pretty flexible, so don’t hesitate to reach out and ask about my availability! I have a dog, I have many toys that your dog may enjoy as well as a roomy backyard that they can run around. I am also near Juniper Park which is a great place to walk the dogs. You can trust that your dog will be in good hands!
“She did a great job! She followed instructions and was able to administer our dog’s eye drops which isn’t easy. She left the house cleaner than when we left, and was very communicative and friendly.”

About: I’ve cared for dogs of all ages and sizes, treating each one like my own. From playful pups to senior snuggle bugs, I want your pets to feel safe, loved, and happy. I am a speech therapist at a skilled nursing facility who works close to home. I have a flexible schedule, allowing me to give your pet and mine plenty of attention and care. Plus, a loving family member is always home for extra company! I create a calm, loving environment with lots of play, cuddles, and routine. Whether in my home or yours, I follow your pet’s schedule to keep them happy and comfortable. Available for meet and greet by Mary Jane Davies park prior to pet boarding. As a personal preference, we don’t do meet & greets in the home and don’t take more than one dog (unless it’s from the same family, 2 max). Big on sending updates and pictures.
“I cannot say enough about Ashley! She spent the weekend with my dogs and she was FABULOUS! The sweetest young lady. My dogs LOVE her (and they don’t love many!!). Ash sent me pictures all weekend, great communication- such an incredible demeanor with the dogs. I literally feel like for the first time in years, I can actually go away with total confidence and trust that my dogs are in the best of hands. She is really special.”

“Cynthia watched my pup overnight and took such good care of him. I felt at ease knowing he was not alone and with someone who genuinely likes dogs (even old cranky ones like mine). Thank you so much Cynthia!!”

“Brigette has been a dog sitter we have been able to rely on continuously while we are at work. We are in the process of training our 8 month old puppy whom is potty training, crate training and is slowly learning to get past his anxiety of being home alone. She has proven to be patient and attentive to Ziggy’s needs as well as in constant communication with Ziggy updates and any questions she may have. We have rebooked her multiple times thus far and plan to continue rebooking her!”

“Another great day being able to go to work and know that my boys are in good hands with Jewel! She is communicative, punctual, and a natural with interacting with the dogs - not giving them too much attention when it would make them overexcited, and being very kind and affectionate when the time is right. I certainly recommend her to you.”

About: I am a responsible and reliable animal lover . I have had animals all my life and even worked with dogs and cat for 6 years at a rescue and adoption center. I love animals; i have 1 older cat and 2 dogs. My older dog Dino is about 10 years old and is a couch potato at this point in his life. My younger guy Reuben is about 6. He was rescued from Georgia from a kill shelter. I also have years of experience with reptiles and fish! I have 2 crested geckos, an electric blue crayfish and a turtle. I’ve also taken care all types of fish, bearded dragons and other lizards! I work locally so can come home or do home visits throughout the day for check ins! I am also available early morning and anytime after 5pm for drop ins and walks. At my house, we treat all pets like our own! I have a fenced yard so all pups will be safe. My dog is friendly and accepting of all dogs! I am also familiar with crate training so can accommodate that but me and my kids are also open to them sleeping with us at night :)
“Andrew as usual was prompt, kind and communicative. He not only sends photos, he takes really artistic ones! I found my house the way I left it, the cats and dog well taken care of and all my requests followed to the T. I highly recommend Andrew, he truly loves animals and is very thoughtful and caring about their well being.”

About: I'm an incredibly active individual. I love to lift weights, practice martial arts, hike, and go on runs. This allows me to be an excellent fit for a dog whose energy levels are high. If you'd prefer for me to not just take your dog to the bathroom, but provide them a good amount of exercise as well, I'm a great fit! When I'm not taking care of dogs I work as a writer, director, and editor on films, social media videos, and commercials. If you've ever wanted any photos or videos of you and your four legged friend (or just them) I can provide high quality images/videos for you as well whether you want to just show off to your friends and family or just to have status updates on how your dog is doing. Because I work freelance my schedule tends to be flexible and allows me to set my own hours usually. I will work with you as best as I can to fit your needs within my schedule. I treat dogs very similarly to how I treat people. I show them a great deal of respect, empathy, and love. I do tend to spoil my own dog here and there, but I also try to love him as unconditionally as he does to me. A golden rule I try to follow is treat others the way you want to be treated. Another golden rule I try to follow is to see myself in others. I also apply these two golden rules to my encounters with pets and nature in general.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Great Neck
This was the first time we had someone we didn’t know watching our dog and I was very anxious. Brigette was wonderful and made the whole week feel comfortable and put me at ease. We got daily updates about Arya with pictures and Brigette was so good with her. Brigette was also able to give her medicine she needed from a recent vet visit. She was very respectful being in our house overnight and I will definitely book her again for future stays.

John watched our 2 senior dogs, one of which needs alot of assistance some days. John kept us updated by sending pictures and we knew they were doing ok. It was such a relief to be able to go somewhere and know everyone was going to be fine when we returned. We definitely will be using him again when we have functions to attend. We highly recommend John!

1000/1000! Bryce was a life saver!! She was available last minute to dog sit my 2 dogs at my home for a week! She sent thorough and constant updates that made me feel so at ease. The dogs truly adored her and she clearly loved them. She left the house in immaculate condition and went over and above what I asked of her. She will be my go to girl for all future trips!

Andrew as usual was prompt, kind and communicative. He not only sends photos, he takes really artistic ones! I found my house the way I left it, the cats and dog well taken care of and all my requests followed to the T. I highly recommend Andrew, he truly loves animals and is very thoughtful and caring about their well being.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Great Neck walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Great Neck maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Great Neck choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Great Neck. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
