Angela was the first person (other than family) we’ve had stay with our dog in 9 years. We were so anxious and she agreed to come do a meet and greet a few days before which made us feel so much better. She sent us frequent photos and updates. Our pup was a happy girl when we got home!

They also have allergies and special dietary requirements and were happy and healthy when I got home. Kevin kept me updated with cute pictures everyday and was great to work with! My apt was also left neat and tidy! Thanks so much Kevin! Will definitely rebook for our next trip!

Another great day being able to go to work and know that my boys are in good hands with Jewel! She is communicative, punctual, and a natural with interacting with the dogs - not giving them too much attention when it would make them overexcited, and being very kind and affectionate when the time is right. I certainly recommend her to you.

About: HIGHLY EXPERIENCED WITH DOGS THAT HAVE BEHAVIORAL ISSUES!! Eager to work! :) I have grown up with, and helped care for, dogs my whole life. For the past 3 years I have been training my dog, currently with assistance from a trainer. He was fearful-reactive and is now an amazing service dog in training. I have been a volunteer at the world’s largest no-kill shelter for 2 years now. I have handled dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds, and temperaments. I have worked with blind and senior dogs. I have run puppy play groups, as well as puppy mill, senior, and teen play groups. some behavioral challenges in dogs that I have worked with include: fearful; reactive; food and/or object possessive; stranger danger; seperation anxiety; dog vs dog aggression; strong leadership; mouthy; and more i’m sure i’m forgetting. I have taken several extensive dog training classes to improve my skill and knowledge. I was the first 16 year old to reach one of the most advanced dog levels. I am very well-versed in understanding dog body language. I have dealt with sick dogs as well as dogs with skin conditions. I have helped get the neighbors dog to eat, as well as go potty and play, and dog walked for several clients. I also have experience with cats from the shelter as i have taken advanced feline behavior classes. I am able to understand cat body language fairly well. I have worked with cats as well as kittens, and cat sat several times. I can care for, and clean up after, dogs and/or cats. I will always respect your pets boundaries. I am currently an undergrad with the goals of becoming a veterinarian! I will genuinely treat your fur babies as my own. My dedication and passion truly is to ALL animals. 🩷 I am a full time college student. I regularly update my calendar to show my availability. Make sure to check there! Can’t wait to hear from you :) I will make sure your pet has fresh food and water, as well as making sure there is nothing clearly dangerous left out that the pet could hurt themselves with or eat. I will ensure everything is as it was when I came, as well as closing and locking any doors I used. I will dispose of animal waste as instructed. On walks I have a steady balance and strong leash hold to ensure the dog stays with me. I may carry treats with me for minor training/intervention (if allowed and if the dog pulls or something like that). If your dog is scared of certain things or creatures I will take precautions to avoid anything triggering to the dog. Lastly, I will certainly make sure the pet(s) feel loved, happy, and relaxed.

Brigette has been a dog sitter we have been able to rely on continuously while we are at work. We are in the process of training our 8 month old puppy whom is potty training, crate training and is slowly learning to get past his anxiety of being home alone. She has proven to be patient and attentive to Ziggy’s needs as well as in constant communication with Ziggy updates and any questions she may have. We have rebooked her multiple times thus far and plan to continue rebooking her!

About: I’ve cared for dogs of all ages and sizes, treating each one like my own. From playful pups to senior snuggle bugs, I want your pets to feel safe, loved, and happy. I am a speech therapist at a skilled nursing facility who works close to home. I have a flexible schedule, allowing me to give your pet and mine plenty of attention and care. Plus, a loving family member is always home for extra company! I create a calm, loving environment with lots of play, cuddles, and routine. Whether in my home or yours, I follow your pet’s schedule to keep them happy and comfortable. Available for meet and greet by Mary Jane Davies park prior to pet boarding. As a personal preference, we don’t do meet & greets in the home and don’t take more than one dog (unless it’s from the same family, 2 max). Big on sending updates and pictures.

Beverly was a godsend for me, full stop. My plans for taking care of my dog fell through at the last minute before the holidays and Beverly swooped right in for the rescue. She gave me updates throughout the week during the busiest time of the year and made sure my dog felt right at home without me there. Beverly went above and beyond what I expected of her and the apartment was left better than she found it. I’d recommend her to anyone and everyone in a heartbeat.

I cannot say enough about Ashley! She spent the weekend with my dogs and she was FABULOUS! The sweetest young lady. My dogs LOVE her (and they don’t love many!!). Ash sent me pictures all weekend, great communication- such an incredible demeanor with the dogs. I literally feel like for the first time in years, I can actually go away with total confidence and trust that my dogs are in the best of hands. She is really special.

Andrew stayed at our home for a week to care for our rescue dog, Melvin, and our cat, Dolce—and he was absolutely incredible. Melvin is usually slow to trust new people, but thanks to Andrew’s calm, patient energy, they bonded beautifully early on in the stay. By the end of the week, Melvin was completely attached, and we were honestly amazed at how well it went. Dolce also got all the love and care she needed. Andrew was respectful of our home, incredibly reliable, and easy to communicate with. We came back to happy pets and a spotless house. This was our first time working with Andrew, and it won’t be the last—highly recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and kind pet sitter!

This was the first time we had someone we didn’t know watching our dog and I was very anxious. Brigette was wonderful and made the whole week feel comfortable and put me at ease. We got daily updates about Arya with pictures and Brigette was so good with her. Brigette was also able to give her medicine she needed from a recent vet visit. She was very respectful being in our house overnight and I will definitely book her again for future stays.

John watched our 2 senior dogs, one of which needs alot of assistance some days. John kept us updated by sending pictures and we knew they were doing ok. It was such a relief to be able to go somewhere and know everyone was going to be fine when we returned. We definitely will be using him again when we have functions to attend. Antonia was great! She was incredibly responsive and flexible in scheduling our meet and greet, which I very much appreciated. Nia house sat for my dog and cat; the cat has CKD and requires extra care and Nia was on top of it. Nia spent lots of time with Teddy doing what he loves best - snuggling! Nia loves animals and they love her right back! Nia also provided regular updates, which I appreciated, especially since it was the first time we worked together. I will definitely use Nia again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Plandome Heights

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 18,793 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Plandome Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Plandome Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Plandome Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Plandome Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Plandome Heights. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
