“John watched our 2 senior dogs, one of which needs alot of assistance some days. John kept us updated by sending pictures and we knew they were doing ok. It was such a relief to be able to go somewhere and know everyone was going to be fine when we returned. We definitely will be using him again when we have functions to attend. We highly recommend John!”

“Charlee was wonderful! She took amazing care of our puggle, who is lovable, but also very high energy and head strong. We really appreciated the care and consideration she showed our dog and our home.”

“This was our first time hiring someone to stay with our pup and Andrea was a godsend! Not only was she amazing with our dog, but she was in constant communication with us while we were away. We felt comfortable having her in our house and know that our dog had the BEST time with her. Any time we travel we are booking Andrea!”

About: 📍 Service area includes the Great Neck Peninsula and surrounding areas of Manhasset and Port Washington. 🔄 Would love to get setup with some regular, repeat clients that align with my work from home schedule. ——— 👋🏼 Hello! I’m Christian, a young professional in Great Neck, NY. I offer dog walking, drop-in visits, and house sitting, and I’m currently available for new clients! I work fully-remote from home, so I have a flexible schedule and can give your dog the attention they need, whether it’s a midday walk, a check-in while you’re at work, or overnight care in your home. I grew up with dogs my whole life, and I got my start walking and caring for dogs professionally through “Wag!” as part of the first group of walkers in Boston while studying at Northeastern University. I’ve been continuing to care for dogs in my spare time since. At home, I live with my fiancé and our labradoodle, Callum, a lovable and energetic boy who always keeps me active. I’m always happy to do a free meet-and-greet to make sure it’s a great fit. Let’s connect; I’d love to meet you and your dog! 😁 I work from home full time, so my schedule is very flexible and I’m happy to accommodate your scheduling needs - just let me know! In both my home and my clients’ homes, I focus on making pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I follow provided routines closely (feeding schedules, medication, crate time, etc.). I’m attentive to each dog’s specific needs, especially when it comes to things like leash reactivity or separation anxiety, which I’ve personally dealt with in my own dog and therefore fully understand what goes on with it. My remote work schedule gives me the flexibility to give pets my full attention throughout the day, not just during quick visits or walks.
About: I do volunteer at dog rescue all the time, that’s how I met our baby boy ROCCO. We’ve been together for 9 years and another 9 years more for sure ☑️ I am full time dog’s burtler. Currently we have 17 yr old mixed poodle gentlman at home. Taking him out for every 2 hours for potty. We go to oakland lake and Crocheron park everyday ! House locates on ground floor in the building + back yard, 1,000 sqft big enough for up to 3 dogs ( including mr.Rocco ) we have many cushions and beds. Of course many many toys and activities!!
“Brigette has been a dog sitter we have been able to rely on continuously while we are at work. We are in the process of training our 8 month old puppy whom is potty training, crate training and is slowly learning to get past his anxiety of being home alone. She has proven to be patient and attentive to Ziggy’s needs as well as in constant communication with Ziggy updates and any questions she may have. We have rebooked her multiple times thus far and plan to continue rebooking her!”

“Lia is a phenomenal house sitter who took amazing care of our two dogs while we were traveling out of town. It’s clear that she clicked with our dogs, and they became instant friends. She stayed in touch with us and provided timely updates throughout. She followed our instructions closely and even made sure to clean our apartment before leaving. We will definitely become repeat clients of Lia!”

About: I'm an incredibly active individual. I love to lift weights, practice martial arts, hike, and go on runs. This allows me to be an excellent fit for a dog whose energy levels are high. If you'd prefer for me to not just take your dog to the bathroom, but provide them a good amount of exercise as well, I'm a great fit! When I'm not taking care of dogs I work as a writer, director, and editor on films, social media videos, and commercials. If you've ever wanted any photos or videos of you and your four legged friend (or just them) I can provide high quality images/videos for you as well whether you want to just show off to your friends and family or just to have status updates on how your dog is doing. Because I work freelance my schedule tends to be flexible and allows me to set my own hours usually. I will work with you as best as I can to fit your needs within my schedule. I treat dogs very similarly to how I treat people. I show them a great deal of respect, empathy, and love. I do tend to spoil my own dog here and there, but I also try to love him as unconditionally as he does to me. A golden rule I try to follow is treat others the way you want to be treated. Another golden rule I try to follow is to see myself in others. I also apply these two golden rules to my encounters with pets and nature in general.
“My dog is feisty and doesn’t get along well with nearly anyone, but she loved Sara! Very responsible and communicative in important situations. She stayed at our apartment and left it cleaner than we did! Would highly recommend!”

“Ari was fantastic! We hired him to care for our high-energy pup who dislikes other dogs. Ari was incredibly thoughtful and communicative before and during his stay at our home. He sent at least two pictures a day and said the kindest things about our pup - which made us feel like our pup was in good hands. We will definitely hire Ari again in the future!”

“Mía is so awesome! She came to sit my dog under short notice and she was easy to work with, agile and responsive. I appreciate her help and I would definitely come back again next time.”

About: Cat dad of over 20 years making sure my pets are happy, healthy, safe and clean. Lover of all animals and so my due diligence to make sure they are happy. Available on weekends and after 5pm on weekdays. I work full time but have a flexible schedule outside of it. Currently do not live with my own pet so my attention will be turned toward your fur baby. I approach animal care very gently, making sure they're comfortable with me. Always bring treats to make that process easier. I make sure they are properly fed, groomed, and area cleaned to make that comfort a priority.

About: Hi I currently work from home and have a lot of free time on my hands. I have watched over 100 pets with 5 years on Rover. I'm very flexible to accommodate you and your pet in any way. Feel free to reach out if there are any last-minute emergencies. I can come over to pick up and drop off as well. I usually send pictures and updates to check in with you with their progress. I live on a very quiet street with a lot of grass everywhere. It is a safe clean environment. I do have stairs since I live on the second floor.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Harbor Hills
I’m so happy that we found each other in our new neighborhood! I met several wonderful people throughout the interview process, but something about her immediately told me she would be the perfect fit for my kitties—and my intuition proved to be absolutely right. She is genuinely affectionate, attentive, and caring with my kitties, and I can see how comfortable and happy they are with her. The beautiful photos she shares with us are also wonderfully captured and give us such peace of mind while we’re away. We feel very fortunate to have found her and are truly looking forward to teaming up with her for many years to come!

This was the first time we had someone we didn’t know watching our dog and I was very anxious. Brigette was wonderful and made the whole week feel comfortable and put me at ease. We got daily updates about Arya with pictures and Brigette was so good with her. Brigette was also able to give her medicine she needed from a recent vet visit. She was very respectful being in our house overnight and I will definitely book her again for future stays.

John watched our 2 senior dogs, one of which needs alot of assistance some days. John kept us updated by sending pictures and we knew they were doing ok. It was such a relief to be able to go somewhere and know everyone was going to be fine when we returned. We definitely will be using him again when we have functions to attend. We highly recommend John!

1000/1000! Bryce was a life saver!! She was available last minute to dog sit my 2 dogs at my home for a week! She sent thorough and constant updates that made me feel so at ease. The dogs truly adored her and she clearly loved them. She left the house in immaculate condition and went over and above what I asked of her. She will be my go to girl for all future trips!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Harbor Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Harbor Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Harbor Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
