“Katiana was absolutely amazing. I felt so confident and comfortable leaving my babies with her. She made great work at keeping me updated and caring for my pups with walks and treats and comfy time every day, with plenty of pics! House sitting by Katiana I would recommend over and over again. WONDERFUL SITTER!”

“Jenn was an absolutely phenomenal dog sitter for our two golden retrievers. Her attention and care for them was amazing, and her check ins with updates and pictures gave us total peace of mind while we were away. It was clear she truly cared about our dogs and treated them like her own. We couldn’t have asked for better care and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone!!! I'd give her 6 stars if I could!”

“Megan took such good care of our two girlies. She checked in with us multiple times a day and kept us updated on her comings and going’s. We also got so many cute pictures- we could tell the girls were very happy and getting lots of attention. Will definitely rebook!”

“She was really nice and took notes on everything we went over. Took amazing care of our disabled dog and kept the duo active while we were away. The pups loved playing with her!”

“Me and my wife could not be any happier with the service that Megan provided. We've got a mixed house of 5 animals some of which have special needs, and she did an absolutely amazing job. We got pictures and communication every single day. Which is exactly what we requested. All the animals loved her, even the more skittish ones. If you need somebody to watch your animals and home, you could not pick a better person. I honestly can't say enough nice things about her. She's worth every penny.”

“Great communication and so willing to help with any request. She's so kind and treats our fur baby with love and kindness. We'd use her again in a heartbeat”

“Yvette helped us out at the last minute for an overnight stay, her flexibility was a life saver! Not to mention my dog loved her right away, I felt so comfortable leaving him in her care, and I am nervous pet parent. Highly recommend!!”
“Dawn was beyond wonderful! I did not worry at all about all of our pets and she was so respectful in our home. I would definitely recommend her and will use her again in the future!”

About: Former mental-health professional who is happily shifting my career from mental health & behavioral health counseling to full-time animal care—because honestly, dogs have always been my favorite therapy clients! I fully understand fear, trauma, and behavior at a deep level. For years I have been the go to Foster for local rescues for complex medical and emotional needs dogs. For nearly 15 years I’ve volunteered and fostered with local rescues and shelters, helping many dogs find calm, confidence, and their forever homes. I hold canine CPR & first-aid certification, I have extensive training in dog behavior and positive-reinforcement techniques, and I’m currently studying for my CPDT-KA professional dog trainer certification. When your dog stays with me, they are literally the only guest in my home. They have full run of the house and fully fenced backyard, sleep wherever they feel most secure (many choose right in bed with me), and receive gentle, constant companionship in an ultra-low-stress environment. I work from home, have no children present, no other animals and I am the only person in my home. My fully fenced, spacious backyard gives them plenty of room to zoom, play, or just sunbathe while I’m never more than a room away. Canine CPR certified and comfortable with injections, fluids, seizure meds, tubes — whatever your dog needs. No kids, no pets, no chaos—just peace and snuggles Your dog lives like family: free roam, couch cuddles, my bed if wanted, constant company, daily yard play, fresh meals, meds, love—never crated or alone.
About: Hi there! I grew up with dogs and for the last nine years, have been a mom to my beloved chiweenie named Fynn. Friends, family members, and clients trust me with their dogs, for both short and long term stays, and I’d love to care for your pup. Fynn is very active, so we do at least two long walks a day. I live in the North End, so frequently walk in Puget Park and am always happy to take pups to Point Defiance depending on exercise needs. Of course, if your dog needs more rest, I’ll take that into account as well. I have experience caring for senior dogs and administering medication. I am in academia and currently on my summer break, so I’m home most of the time. Your dog will rarely be alone. Please reach out! Can’t wait to hang with your pup! I work from home and have a flexible schedule. I am free on weekdays and weekends as needed, and am available for both shorter and longer term stays. I live in an apartment but take frequent dog walks and bathroom breaks as needed. I have a nine-year-old chiweenie named Fynn who loves other dogs and will be a great buddy to your pup. I’m close to parks and Point Defiance so your dog will get plenty of exercise!
“Stephanie was great with my Shih Tzus Belle and Finn. She administered oral meds and eye ointment without a problem, played fetch, and kept them happy with cuddles and loads of attention. Quickly responded to my texts - I had no concern my Littles were anything but happy with her. Will use Stephanie again in the future!”

“Jerry is great! On short notice, Jerry was able to take care of Bella & Chunk (cat & dog) when we went out of town for the weekend. Jerry sent us a bunch of pictures and even took our pup on a fun outing down by the water. He kept us posted throughout the day which we really appreciated. Highly recommend! 5 stars!!”

“We were gone for 7 days and when we came home the dogs acted like we had just ran to the store! They were very calm and happy. They ate all of their food which never happens when we are away. Brigitta took great care of our house also- looked better when we got home than when we left lol”

About: I have lived with animals most of my life. While I currently do not own a pet, I have continued to surround myself with the animals of my friends and family. I started cat-sitting 2 years ago. When I pet sit, I aim to ensure a great experience for my furry friends. I am currently working part-time as an Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) and am flexible in my hours. I am currently a part-time Occupational Therapist, so I have flexibility in my schedule to take care of your furry friend. I have my own transportation as well. I work hard to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for your animal in their home environment. A detailed description of your animal's needs is much appreciated.
“We couldn't have asked for a better experience with Kevin! He took fantastic care of our two very different family members—our quiet cat and our high-energy Dutch Shepherd puppy. From the start, Kevin was incredibly communicative, providing regular updates and photos that gave us complete peace of mind. He was clearly very thorough, making sure all instructions were followed perfectly and giving the puppy plenty of exercise and training reinforcement. Most importantly, he was deeply caring; both animals clearly bonded with him quickly and were happy and relaxed when we returned. We wholeheartedly recommend Kevin to anyone needing reliable and attentive pet care, and we would welcome him back anytime!”

About: Dogs have been a huge part of my life for over 12 years. I have cared for two wonderful dogs of my own—a small dog named Gunner and a Chocolate Lab named Jeter—which has given me experience with dogs of different sizes, personalities, and energy levels. Through caring for my own pets, I’ve become comfortable with daily walks, feeding schedules, administering basic medications, playtime, grooming, and providing lots of love and attention. As a pet owner myself, I understand how important it is to find someone you trust with your furry family member. My goal is to make every pet feel safe, comfortable, loved, and cared for while you’re away. I work from home full-time, which gives me a very flexible schedule and allows me to provide plenty of attention, companionship, and care throughout the day. Whether your pet needs playtime, walks, potty breaks, medication, or simply someone nearby to keep them company, I can be there. For house sitting, I can bring my work setup with me so your pet can stay comfortable in their familiar environment while still receiving lots of love and attention. My goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and cared for while you’re away. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. Because I work from home, I’m able to spend more quality time with pets throughout the day, providing regular walks, playtime, cuddles, potty breaks, and plenty of supervision. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine, personality, and needs so they can feel as comfortable as possible while you’re away. Whether your pet is energetic and loves adventure or prefers a calm companion to relax with, I’ll make sure they receive attentive, loving care and lots of affection. I also provide regular updates and photos so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is happy and well cared for.

About: I’ve always been the one my family calls to take care of their pets, ever since I was little. I’m currently shadowing at a veterinary clinic and am working toward becoming a veterinarian. I have a huge passion for animals and treat every pet as if they were my own. I’ll go above and beyond to make sure your pet feels safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away. Whether that’s going on long walks, playing their favorite games, sticking to their routine, or giving them extra cuddles, I’m committed to providing the best care possible. I know how much pets mean to their families, and I’ll care for yours with the same love and attention I’d want for my own. I’m currently interning at a vet clinic part-time, so I will have plenty of time for your pets! I have a lot of free time on my hands so your pets will be my number one priority throughout the day. I care for pets by sticking to their normal routine as much as possible so they feel comfortable and at ease while you’re away. I’ve fostered animals before and can easily adjust to each pet’s individual needs and personality. I’ve worked with animals in many different situations and feel confident handling whatever comes up. I’ll always treat your pet like my own and make sure they feel safe, happy, and loved until you’re home again.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Gig Harbor
Erica was amazing…Erica provided superb communication, our puppies were absolutely cared for and enjoyed the time spent with Erica. Our home was well kept and in excellent condition when we arrived home, we are so very appreciative of the love and care given to our beloved dogs.

Cambria did a super job with our pets. The day before we left one dog ended up in Urget Care after ingesting bones and having tarry black poop. We had a specific care plan for him and frankly Cambria is the ONLY sitter I would have felt safe leaving him with! “No problem” she said, “I’ve got this!” After we talked about it. He recovered and she sent me very specific updates about his condition. She always sends lots of pictures and takes our younger dog on some very long walks to keep her happy. Plus she leaves the house in better shape than anyone ever does. Everything nest, tidy, folded, and the little welcome home bouquet was so special. She is the best pet/house sitter ever. Thank you Cambria for the peace of mind you gave us.

Daniel was great with our two large dogs! He helped us out in a pinch and was super responsive. He followed our instructions to the T, was thorough, sent us updates and pics of our dogs, and left our house clean when we arrived home. He is very thoughtful with the dogs and despite our old fellow being incredibly difficult to med, Daniel was diligent in trying and found out a new med trick for us!! We will use him again. Thank you Daniel!
Maria was a wonderful companion to Fiddlesticks! She was communicative during our trip, sending great photos and updates. This was our first trip away from Fiddle and we felt totally comfortable and safe leaving him in Maria’s care. She is knowledgeable about dogs, understands their needs, and continued our training during crucial puppy-development-time. We appreciate her so much and would book again!

FAQs for House Sitting - Gig Harbor
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Gig Harbor on Rover is $37.45 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 7,305 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Gig Harbor. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gig Harbor walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gig Harbor maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gig Harbor choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
