“Haeley was wonderful! Communicative, responsive, and great with our cat. (I think he liked her better than he likes us!) We will absolutely ask her to come back next time!”

“Courtney did a great job taking care of my cats for 2 weeks! They have complicated dietary needs and she was able to handle it. I got daily updates and pictures which I appreciated receiving. I will definitely schedule her the next time I am away!”

“Super friendly and nonjudgemental about the fact that I haven’t been able to clean my litter often enough due to chronic pain. Went above and beyond by carrying more than just the litter trash out behind the back of the building to the dumpster.”

About: I have been caring for animals of my own since I was a kid! I've grown up dog sitting for neighbors, taking care of multiple cats in my family and for others, and more. I love animals and pets so much. I've grown up with a dog and multiple cats myself and I feel so much empathy for others and their relationship to their furry friends <3 I'm currently working as a freelance artist! I spend time in the studio when I'm not home and can take my work anywhere which frees up anytime you may need for me to visit your pets! I am a very attentive care giver. I have taken care of cats and dogs in my own family from kitten/puppy up to adulthood and now healthy seniors! I have helped many of my friends take in pets and given advice on the best way to set up their environments and prepare their homes as well as good things to look out for. Watching out for small changes in a pet's mood, routine, etc are all key things to me when it comes to taking care of them.

About: I have experience with animals of all ages and types, medical histories and all. I grew up with animals, had a diabetic kitty who needed insulin every day, senior pets growing old, and hyper puppies learning life’s mysteries. I am passionate for animal advocacy, and aim to help as many people and animals as possible! I work during the day three times a week. I have reliable transportation and weekend availability. I have a good care schedule for our cats and our fosters that come through. I live in a large, animal friendly apartment with a partially fenced in back yard. I live in a residential area with parks near by and a lot of grass. My home is animal proof (oven knobs covered, wires covered, non toxic plants only, etc). I am capable of walking large dogs and aiding in training during walks.
“My dog Kyra instantly felt comfortable with Isabel, showing off with tricks, asking for belly rubs, and being generally chill, which is not a given with her part-Pyrenees temperament. Looking forward to start booking some walks in the neighborhood.”

“Nikki is our wild puppy’s new BFF. She takes our wacky, overboard instructions in stride, is a calming presence for our busy pup, and is a wonderful communicator before, durning and after her visits. Can’t recommend her highly enough.”

“Daniel was great with our senior cat who is a little quirky and needs meds twice per day. He was communicative, responsive, and sent plenty of photos. Would highly recommend for any pet care needs!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fern Rock
Marketa has been catsitting my cat for several years now and does a truly fantastic job, she is by far the best pet sitter I’ve ever had. She takes the time to play with my shy kitty, and has been able to coax her out of hiding, a feat no one else has managed. Our cat is always content when we return, and our house neat and fresh smelling. She is thoughtful and will grab a package left on the porch, handles alarm systems and multiple locks with ease, and takes note of anything that seems amiss in the house. I always feel reassured going away when I know she is checking in on our cat & home.

Jamilah took care of our 2 cats for several days while we were on vacation! She treated them (and our home) so well. We loved the pics she sent after each visit-one of our cats can be very shy, but she clearly loved Jamilah right away! She also made sure our picky senior cat ate all his meals, which put our minds at ease.

Daniel is a Cat Whisperer! I have not left my cats since they were born in my home over 5 years ago. I had no idea if they would even eat while I was away? Daniel's vibe is one of peace and compassion and he had matters well in hand! Even Mercy showed great progress; Daniel helped her overcome her inherent anxiety.

We left for a holiday weekend trip and had Juntae check in on our furbabies while we were gone (two cats). We got tons of photos and the cutest 'report card' talking about how his relationship with them progressed over the days we were gone. Very flexible, thorough, and kind. Will absolutely be rebooking next time we leave on a trip!

Allie was amazing with our 9 year old dog!!! We always get a little nervous having a new sitter watch our 95 lbs American bulldog mix since he can be a handful at times, but once they met we knew he’d be in good hands. Allie was communicative, gave lots of photos and updates, and followed our instructions with ease!! Will definitely be reaching out again for future visits :)

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
