“Kirby was a very happy boy staying with Ilanna and her husband and boys while we were away on vacation. We felt good knowing he was in very capable hands. We will definitely be taking our buddy back to stay with them in the future.”
“Bozena is always great when boarding our older dog. She sends regular pictures and updates. Layla is always happy to return to her home and seems sad to leave when we pick her up.”

“Barbara was so sweet, friendly and nice! I knew she would treat my Bella with the same love and care I give her. She sent me daily texts and pictures of how my Bella was doing. Buddy, her dog was a sweetheart, so friendly and playful! I'll definitely be back when I need a sitter again:) Thanks again Barbara!”

“Second time booking with Lauren. This time our shy dog went right up to her door like it was her second home. Really appreciate how easy communication is with Lauren throughout the whole process.”

“Cynthia and her family are amazing! She has boarded our pup for multiple days at a time and Yadi always comes home so ready to nap and cuddle! We’ve used Cynthia several times and look forward to brining Yadi back!”

“Deborah was the perfect sitter for our dog MaryAnn while we were away for 12 days overseas. We loved that Deborah had a big fenced in back yard, worked from home, and only took on one dog at a time. It helped recreate our dog’s typical experience at home. Deborah was quick to respond to our booking inquiry and was happy to set up a meet and greet in which she took many notes. Deborah clearly had a lot of dog experience on and off Rover and she was confident she and MaryAnn would get on well. Deborah would send us frequent updates and even handled MaryAnns tummy issues. She was also great about administering MaryAnn’s medications and heartworm pill as instructed. When we picked MaryAnn up she was clearly exhausted from spending lots of time playing out and she definitely seemed extremely happy and comfortable on Deborah’s home. Highly recommend Deborah for your boarding experience!”

“Tina and her husband were wonderful. Took care of Rachel as if she was a part of there family!! Thank you Tina for all your attentiveness both before Rachels visit and after. Debbie :)”

“Janice took wonderful care of Bonnie during our trip! She was very communicative and sent lots of pictures and videos of their time together. When we had to adjust our booking due to a change in travel, she was very accommodating and helpful. I know Bonnie’s looking forward to her next visit!”

“Haley was amazing! She accepted my pets last minute and took care of them like they were her own. Her place was clean, roomy, and had an outdoor space. She was flexible with our last minute plans and very experienced with animals. I highly recommend. Will be using her again!”

“My first time using Rover and I was able to book a stay with Hope. She was very sweet and made sure to check in with my pictures and videos. I will definitely be using her again. Thank you so much!”

“Just is amazing 🙌🏼🩷 Not only keeping and wonderful fun and peaceful place for the pups, but her personal demeanor is absolutely lovely as well! She understands dogs greatly and you can be sure your best friends are safe with her!”

“Yevheniia and her family are AMAZING! I don’t need a sitter too often but when I do I have found my go to person! The love and attention given to Bruce was so wonderful and comforting. I could tell Bruce felt loved and safe.”

“Cami is amazing! She was very communicative and so attentive to our pup! She has a very dog friendly home and yard as well. Our dog was very relaxed and happy when we picked him up so we knew immediately that he enjoyed his stay. We’re hoping she’s available for all our future boarding needs. Highly recommended!”

About: I have two male dachshunds. I have had the. since they were puppies. I had three, but my oldest passed away on Dec. 16, 2025. He was13 years old and I have had him since I was 21 years old. My second oldest is 11 years old and the youngest is 4 years old. The dogs are allowed on furniture. We have ramps to help them onto the couch and they have a nice ramp up to a comfy window bed area. Our dogs love sleeping there and looking out the window. I am used to dogs with health issues. My oldest dog, Odie, had a very sensitive stomach and had to have a strict diet or he got pancreatitis. Our youngest has had back surgery and was paralyzed and slowly regained mobility. Taking care of dogs with health issues is not a problem for me. When booking with me. Let me know about your pets personality. Be specific with eating schedule. I require the dogs to be crate trained if I have to step out of the house. We have a big backyard that is perfect for exploring and running around. When the dogs get hot, we have a small pool that my dog Oscar loves to jump in to cool off. I am a teacher and I have my summers off. During the school year I am gone during the day. My dogs are fenced off to the hallway and the front window. They have 3 dog beds and a ramp leading up to the window where they also sleep on a platform. The dogs are cozy waiting for us. Make sure to let me know how your dog should be handled when I am away. I will crate your dogs next to mine while I'm away from the house. To ensure their safety. We have a big backyard and your dog will get lots of loves at my house. We are big dog lovers. I live with my husband and two children. I have a 5 year old and a 2 year old who are gentle with dogs. My 5 year old actually has her own dog. The youngest dachshund, Jack, is hers. They have a great bond and he always sleeps in her bed at night.
“From the moment I booked with this sitter and had our initial video chat, I instantly felt good vibes and positive energy. She has a dog of her own, and it was clear that Chloe got along with her wonderfully. Throughout the stay, the sitter kept me updated with photos and messages, which I truly appreciated. It gave me peace of mind knowing Chloe was in such good hands. I’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

“Christine and her family were an incredibly lucky find on here when our usual sitters were booked. Christine was professional and communicated well from start to finish, and her and her family kept my dog busy and so spoiled. I didn’t have to worry about him for a second while we were away and came home to a very happy and well taken care of pup. We highly recommend and will be happy to rebook in the future!”

“Shalyn was so nice to work with! She and her family took wonderful care of Kira and sent updates so we’d know how she was doing. I would highly recommend Shalyn, and will definitely have her at the top of our list for future boarding. Kira seemed very happy with her stay and even gave Shalyn’s son a goodbye kiss and snuggle. Thank you to Shalyn and family!”

“Our 9 month old spaniel had a great time at Alice & Dons house! This was his first time away from us and he was well loved and cared for while we were away. We will book again and are happy we found such great caregivers!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
