I am so grateful to Ms. Sofia for taking such a good care of our Milo and Tyson. We were desperate for someone, at the last minute, to house sit them for 4 days. She has shown great responsibility with our home and our fur babies. They loved her! Sofia updated us every few hours with quick text and pictures. She walked them, played with them and fed them as according to our instructions. It is rather nerve wracking to trust one with your home and animals that you adore, but she has gone and above and we will continue to book her. Thank you Sofia for all your care and love for Tyson and Milo! You are their new best friend!

About: Hi! My name is Elizabeth, but you can call me Liz. I grew up with both cats and dogs, so caring for animals has always been a part of my life. I’ve also pet sat for family friends over the years, giving me experience caring for pets while their owners are away. I’m organized, dependable, and a strong communicator. I understand how important it is to know your pet is in good hands, so I’ll keep you updated with messages and photos to give you peace of mind. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply sticking to their normal routine, I’ll make sure they receive the care and attention they deserve. I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family and always aim to provide a safe, loving, and stress-free environment. My goal is to make sure both you and your pet feel comfortable and confident while you’re away. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members! As a substitute teacher, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to accept pet care requests on many afternoons, evenings, weekends, holidays, and school breaks. Since my work schedule can vary from day to day, I do my best to keep my calendar updated and communicate promptly about my availability. Whether your pet needs a quick drop-in visit or consistent care while you’re away, I’m organized, reliable, and committed to making sure they receive the attention and care they deserve. I always care for pets as if they were my own. In a client’s home, I do my best to maintain their pet’s normal routine by following feeding schedules, providing fresh water, giving them plenty of attention, and making sure they get the exercise or playtime they need. I also keep their living area clean and tidy and provide regular updates so owners know how their pet is doing. I understand that every pet has a unique personality, so I take the time to earn their trust and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for while you’re away.

About: Hello! My name is Layla and I am currently a full-time college student with extra time on my hands, my schedule can be extremely flexible on the days that I am available. I feel being a pet sitter suits me because a. I love animals, b. I’m very attentive and organized, and c. Earning a wage by hanging out/taking care of your fur babies sounds like a dream! I currently have two big dogs and one cat that I care for almost every day. I take the dogs for walks, play fetch with them, and take them out to go potty. I love spoiling my cat with new stimulating toys, cat trees, and lots of cuddles 🥰 I’m currently a full-time student with some spare time, a part-time job seems too much for me to handle while also engaging in school. I adore animals and it would be amazing to earn money while spending time and caring for them 🥲 A list offered of how you want me to care for your pet is preferred. I understand pets can have different quirks and I’m totally adaptable to anything that’s thrown at me. I love animals and their unique personalities! I’d like to follow your routine to care for your animal, just like you never left!

I am glad Kayla was able to sit my baby husky, Scale. I was able to do my errands without worrying about Scale. I love the pictures Kayla sent to update me of Scale's status. When I got home, Scale was calm and happy. I will recommend Kayla with my friends and relatives and definitely want her to sit Scale again.

In addition to all the wonderful information on Tracy’s profile and the glowing reviews, I was immediately impressed by our initial communication. She was responsive, thoughtful, and asked great questions about my dogs’ needs. When she arrived at our home, I was equally impressed by her friendliness, calm presence, and overall great energy. My dogs have very different personalities and needs, one is small and was born blind, and the other is a 100-pound, 6-month-old Irish Wolfhound puppy. They also need to be kept separated, which adds another layer of management. It can be a lot to navigate. I am very honest (probably to a fault!) about how much work my Irish Wolfhound puppy is, and Tracy wasn’t intimidated in the slightest. I mean, I really tried to scare her off and am so glad it didn't work. LOL. She handled everything confidently and compassionately, and I felt completely at ease knowing they were in her care. I couldn’t be happier with how the visit went. I would absolutely recommend Tracy and will definitely be using her again, and my boyfriend feels the same. It is nice to be on the same page.

What an incredible in-home experience! Not accustomed to being left alone, Gilly our Basset Hound is gleeful when she comes through the door after her first day sitting. She is sensitive to all his requests and needs. He is one happy dog. She devotes every moment to your pup and comes up with great experiences to keep them content and entertained She respects your boundaries for your pet with love. He has been through a lot of major changes the last few years and can be anxious when something new comes along. With Britney, he is so calm and has all the confidence in the world she will protect him. Britney is very knowledgeable and communicates very well. We highly recommend her and wish she was our human caretaker. We will hire her again and again.

About: I’ve always been the go-to person for friends and family when they need someone to care for their pets while they’re on vacation or away from home. I make sure their pets get plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and love while also keeping their home safe and cared for. I’m dependable, attentive, and often available on short notice when unexpected needs come up. When I’m not walking dogs or pet sitting, I work part-time as a therapist, so being patient, responsible, and caring is a big part of who I am! Hello! I can provide overnight stay/service any day of the week (7pm-8am) and I can offer services during the day/all day on weekends, and Tuesday and Thursday since I work from home. Monday/wed/Friday I can do drop in, if needed during the day since I work locally I currently provide services in my personal home for cats only. I am home all day on weekends, and Tuesday and Thursdays. However I work 5 minutes from home on mon/wed/friday so I can do drop ins to feed/check-in/play :)

About: Being around animals brings me a lot of joy. I love discovering their individual personalities because, just like people, every pet is different. When I meet an animal, I pay attention to their energy and let them show me what they need. Some want to play immediately, some are cautious, and some would rather observe from across the room for a while. I’m happy to meet them wherever they are rather than forcing interaction. My Shiba and Malamute have taught me plenty about that. My Malamute is a big-time attention seeker, while my Shiba prefers his personal space (although he occasionally gives in to a cuddle and then mysteriously ends up snoring next to me). 😂 I keep boarding intentionally small so your pet gets the attention they deserve in a calm home environment. I’m comfortable with puppies, seniors, energetic dogs, shy pets, and animals who need medication or extra patience. Most importantly, I’ll follow the care and routines you want for your pet. You know them best, and I want their stay to feel as comfortable and familiar as possible. Pet care is my full-time focus, so I have flexibility for early mornings, midday visits, overnights, and last-minute requests when available. I’m responsive and happy to work around your pet’s normal routine, including specific feeding, exercise, or medication schedules. My home is calm, non-smoking, and fully fenced. I have two dogs of my own, and I’m experienced with introducing and managing animals thoughtfully so everyone can feel comfortable. I keep boarding intentionally small and pay close attention to each pet’s temperament and needs. Client dogs stay leashed until we’re safely inside, and I don’t take them to dog parks. For house sitting, I treat your home with the same respect I would want for my own. I’ll follow your routines, care for your space, and make sure your pets get the same attention and consistency they’re used to.

Holly was an amazing dog sitter. She constantly kept me updated on the status of my puppies as I enjoyed the day with my family in Disneyland. My puppies are only four months old, too young to be with other dogs and be outside. Holly watched them in our hotel suite because of that. I live in Northern California and it was nice to have someone who cared for my puppies like I would. I highly recommend hiring Holly and I will definitely retain her services in the future.

We had a wonderful first-time experience using Rover, and we feel so lucky to have found Amy. She provided frequent updates and photos of our fur baby—just enough to reassure us that he was doing well and give us peace of mind while we were on vacation. Amy truly went above and beyond. She spent quality time cuddling with him, took him on extra walks, and even kindly took out the trash for us. We will definitely be booking Amy again in the future and highly recommend her to our coworkers and friends!

FAQs for House Sitting - East La Mirada

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in East La Mirada on Rover is $42.8 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 15,274 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across East La Mirada. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred East La Mirada walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in East La Mirada maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in East La Mirada choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in East La Mirada. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
