Great job keeping in touch and sending photos. They even had to handle a dog with diarrhea and they did so with no complaints. I appreciated the effort and the peace of mind.

Robert was wonderful! He was on time, very kind and took special care with our elderly and blind dachshund. She needs extra attention on walks and outside around our pool, he was very patient and understanding with this. He provided photos and detailed updates on how she was doing. Our house was spotless and our dog was calm and content when we arrived back home. We will be booking Rob for future dates.

Heather did a fantastic job taking care of our dog while we were out of town! He doesn’t warm up to strangers very quickly, plus he had some medical issues which caused him to be extra cranky. Heather let him warm up to her in his own time. She also had to administer several meds multiple times each day. When he wouldn’t take his pills with peanut butter (which we use) she found another method (plain yogurt) to ensure he got them. I highly recommend her!

I had to go out of town at the last minute. A friend suggested Rover. Ander was available for a last minute stay. We met to see how Ander and Willy would be. I was very surprised at how comfortable Willy was. I am grateful for the care and attention he gave to Willy. I will happily be a repeat customer. I also appreciate that he only has one “family” of pets at a time. Thank you Ander for going out of your way to help us.

About: I’ve been caring for and pet sitting animals for as long as I can remember! I absolutely love and adore animals and honestly prefer them to people 😉. As a teacher on summer break, I’ve got lots of time on my hands to give your fur babies all the love and care they deserve. I have experience working in animal shelters as well as fostering dogs. I am a dog mama of 2 adopted Shar-Peis and am a cat mom as well. Unfortunately, they have lots of health issues therefore I have lots of experience administering oral medications, ear creams, eye creams…you name it! I also have experience taking care of senior and young pups. Though challenging, they deserve all the patience and love in the world. I am looking forward to getting to know you and provide excellent care for your baby! I’m a 5th grade teacher on summer break! I have a wide open schedule for the month of July. I have availability to do drop ins as well as stay the night with your pups while you enjoy summer vacations. I have a large backyard with an 8ft tall brick privacy fence that would be nearly impossible for your fur baby to escape. I will also keep tabs on them at all times to ensure their safety. When in others’ homes, I keep an eye on pets and spend time with them like they’re my own.

Kaitlynn follows schedules extremely carefully, keeping their comfort levels in mind first and foremost. She maintains their routines, gives them lots of attention, and makes sure they feel safe and happy! Can’t recommend her enough!

She made us feel comfortable while we were away from them for the first time in a long time and sent us so many updates and pictures! It was our puppy’s first vacation and Elena took the utmost care of her (and all of our fur babies). I’d so highly recommend her to foranyone at any time. We cannot wait to have her come stay again.

About: I am currently a veterinary student at the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine, here in Oro Valley, AZ. As a student, I work with all kinds of animals, from companion animals to reptiles and farm animals! I graduated with my bachelor's degree in pre-veterinary science from Arizona State University in 2025 and hope to graduate with my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 2028. I've been an animal lover since I was a child when I started volunteering at my local animal shelter! I've worked in veterinary clinics as a veterinary assistant throughout undergrad so I have a lot of experience with all kinds of pets. I love pet-sitting through Rover as a de-stressor from school, as animals always make me happy :) I am currently a full time professional student doing Rover on the side to help pay off my student loans! I still have school over the summer! My classes are from Monday-Friday. The times we have are variable for each day and are range from 8am-5pm. Drop-ins/dog walking: We usually have a 1-hour break at 11am where I can stop by if you live close to my school, or I can come when classes are over for the day. House-sitting: I am fully available to house-sit on weekends, but I have classes on weekdays. Though I am still able to house-sit on weekdays, keep in mind that I may be not be able to stay at your house for a chunk of the day, depending on my schedule. If you need weekday house-sitting, please reach out to me with the days you need and for how much of those days you need me to be at your house! I can check my schedule and get back to you. Sometimes, we have whole mornings off or get done super early, so it just depends. Drop-ins/walking: I will always message you the time I completed my visit and send you photos of your furry friend! I can provide you with any details of the visit you need such as if they went potty. House-sitting: I know it's nerve-racking to leave your pet home and go off on a trip. I can send you updates with photos as often as you'd like so that you feel confident that they are in good hands. I'll always keep an eye out on my messages during my stay so I can answer you and respond with updates. I will reliably follow the directions you provide for me, making sure your pet feels safe & secure.

Maria really saved us! We had another, different Rover dog sitter cancel on us a couple days before a week-long vacation to Mexico we had planned way out. Maria went well out of her way to make her schedule work for us at the last-minute. Most people would not want to deal with the hassle and we were convinced we might have to cancel our trip. She was great with our four-month old puppy. She kept us updated every day and took wonderful care of our house. She even helped us keep tabs on some construction we were doing in the back of the house. We can’t wait to book her again

Mackenzie took wonderful care of my pets and my house. This was my first time having anyone other than family take care of my animals and she gave me great piece of mind knowing they were safe and fed. She is very quick answering messages and gave reassurance that everything was okay, and I was able to relax and enjoy my trip. My home and animals were in great shape when I got home and I will definitely be using Mackenzie again when I travel. Thank you, Mackenzie for going the extra mile to relieve my anxiety about leaving my boys with a "stranger". You're not a stranger anymore and I'm thrilled to have you as part of my little, furry family.

FAQs for House Sitting - Cortaro

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Cortaro on Rover is $41.42 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 999 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Cortaro. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cortaro walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cortaro maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cortaro choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Cortaro. On Rover:

  • 97% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
