“Leaving Max with Michelle for nine days was the best move ever. She sent me several pictures and two videos during that time. In each one Max looked like he was having the time of his life. Michelle is an amazing pet sitter.”

“Aubrey was fantastic with our two little guys! Knowing this was our first time leaving them with someone who wasn’t family, she did a thorough meet and greet, let us see the space where they’d be staying, took all special needs into consideration, and sent regular updates! They had a great time and were very well taken care of while we were away. We couldn’t be more thankful for Aubrey’s care and diligence while watching our guys! Highly recommend!”

“Ashley was absolutely amazing!!!! We left our dog, Stella, with her for a week and a half while we got married and went on our honeymoon and felt like she was in the most capable hands possible. Ashley made sure we were kept up to date on everything and sent us plenty of pictures of our pup throughout the time she was there! She was extremely accommodating to us and made sure we felt comfortable with everything while we were away. When we picked Stella up she seemed extremely comfortable and at ease at Ashley’s house and around Ashley. We’re extremely grateful for Ashley and we will absolutely be using her again in the future. We 100% recommend Ashley for anyone looking to have a piece of mind while having to be away from your pet!”

“I can’t begin to describe what a pleasant experience this was all around. My partner and I have had the same Rover doggy-god-mother for about 2.5 years and she recently moved to NYC and we were desperate and scared to find a loving caretaker for our pups. Sarah and Anthony are the definition of doggy heaven! We were so anxious and they were willing to do a meet and greet with us two weeks before the scheduled overnight stay! It was an instant click! Their apartment is beautiful and the yard is a godsend! During the actual stay Sarah was amazing with updates and pictures that really helped to ease our anxiety. The at the end of the stay, when we thought it couldn’t get better, they came home with a letter from the pups detailing their visit and their experience! Wow! Beyond impressed with Sarah and Anthony! Bambina and Bruno will be back very very Soon! Thanks for existing you lovely ”humans” as the dogs call ya on the letter (haha!)”

“Nick was excellent and I recommend him. Very caring, prompt communicator and made time for walking/playing with my dog (and best friend). Nick kept him safe (which is always my top priority), he was well fed and sent at least 2 updates with photos on the walk everyday. There was another dog present in the house (at least part of the time) but there was not supposed to be other dogs present; Nick explained the situation and I did not have concerns with the other dog (a smaller-size puppy) and they got along very well. I will definitely ask Nick to care for Cuper again.”

“Hali was great with my Archie! She sent updates when I asked for them! He seemed to have fun and was perfect when I picked him up! I'll deff use Hali again to watch my fur baby 🥰”

“Kristina took amazing care of Darby!! She bought her toys and treats. I could tell Darby had a great time and I enjoyed my vacation knowing my dog was in good hands :)”

“I’ve boarded Murphy with April and her family 2x and it’s been a great experience. She always keeps me up to date with how he’s doing and he takes very long naps when he gets home - that tells me he had a lot of fun. Murphy is looking forward to his next stay!!!”

“My poodle got to be one of the family with Elizabeth and Ryan! He got play time with their pups and cuddles from Elizabeth. Elizabeth was very responsive and flexible. Couldn't ask for more!”

“Kara sent us twice daily updates and pictures of our pup and gave her lots of cuddles and playtime. It made us so happy to know that our dog was loved and taken care of during our vacation. Our dog loved being a part of her family for the week.”

“Janet and Ken took excellent care of Lily. They took photos and videos throughout the week to let me know how she was doing. I felt very comfortable leaving Lily with them, and would definitely use this service again. ”

“Susan was wonderful and very communicative! She welcomed my pup with open arms and it was a last minute booking. Susan was very flexible and made me feel comfortable leaving my pup with her. I am so grateful and will be booking again!!”

“She took amazing care of Jack and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. She was attentive, gentle, and clearly loves animals. Jack felt comfortable and well cared for, and I had total peace of mind while he was with her. Communication was great, with updates and quick responses, which I really appreciated. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and professional caregiver for their pet. I will definitely book with her again.”

“Stacey was great with our little Rocky! We had such a great experience with her and it helped us feel at ease on short notice when our old sitter had to cancel! We will definitely be back! Would highly recommend to anyone who needs a safe place for their furbaby while away!”

“Stephanie was the perfect choice to take care of Merlin for our long vacation! She was extremely thorough and thoughtful with her questions and updates. It gave us peace of mind to know that she had every aspect of Merlin’s care under control while we were away!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Chesilhurst
We are so grateful to have found such a wonderful dog sitter. Samona is caring, thoughtful, and you can immediately tell how much she loves animals. Rooster is genuinely happy in her home, and we love knowing he is treated like part of the family. Their two lovely dogs play so well with him, which makes the experience even better. Highly recommend!

Just WOW! I found Samona last minute as our other sitter canceled. While I was initially nervous, our meet-and-greet quickly reassured me the boys would be well taken care of. I knew the boys were going to be in good hands. The daily photos and videos showed us how happy and comfortable our boys were. It gave us a sense of comfort while away from them. When we picked up the boys, it was clear they had formed a bond with Samona and her husband. We’re thrilled to have found a trusted caregiver/friend. Our boys will be returning!

Samona is absolutely wonderful! We were nervous about leaving our dog for 3.5 weeks but she made it so easy! Our dog took a while to warm up to the other dogs so she made sure she was watching them closely when they were together, while also allowing him to have his own outdoor time. Our dog loved the huge yard and all the toys they had (including the drone)! Plus, we got numerous updates (more than I have ever gotten from any other Rover) which made us so happy. I cannot wait to drop my pup back with Samona!

While we were away on vacation, Kim and Barb took great care of Brewzer at Camp Mimi. They sent us pictures and videos of Brewzer each day, so that we could see he was having such a wonderful time relaxing and roaming their beautiful home and yard. Seeing Brewzer having so much fun and being well taken care of at Camp Mimi, allowed us to have a wonderful and relaxing time on vacation. We will definitely request Kim and Barb to watch Brewzer for our next vacation and highly recommend them for watching your dog.

Thank you so much camp Mimi for treating Louie like he was your own! This was our 1st time using rover or a sitter for a last minute trip, Kim & Mimi were so amazing with updates to keep our mind at ease while we enjoyed our vacation. Louie definitely found his new sitters!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
