“Kimberly is great! She keeps in touch and sends awesome pics of my Dog, so I always felt connected to her! She was very loving and caring towards my dog and goes the extra mile! I have booked her several times!”
“Heather was absolutely amazing watching my dog. She communicated how he was doing with lots of pictures. Its really made being away from my fur baby a lot easier. Thank you Heather so much!!!”

“Marissa was a great sitter for our Kai dog. She sent pictures daily and Kai ate great with her. The house was clean when we returned and Kai was well taken care of. We’d be happy to have her sit for us again :)”
“Zoey did a wonderful job caring for my cats! She was very punctual and followed my instructions very well. She was also very sweet with my cats and communicated well during her visits. I’m so happy I found Zoey. Highly recommend her.”

“Marissa was amazing, she gave frequent updates and pictures. Played with my dog as much as he wanted and even took him to the dog park. She also even came back when she didn’t have to in the middle of the night due to my flight getting cancelled last minute she was a life saver. Would absolutely recommend.”

“Mark was fantastic! We were out of town for nearly a week the first time Mark house/dog-sat (he had previously walked our pup), and Mark handled everything. Most importantly, our dog loves him! But Mark also brought in the mail, kept an eye on things around the house during some large storms, and communicated with us regularly. The day we were coming home, Mark was willing to stay later during a tornado watch when our flights were delayed. He also left the house very clean in terms of dishes and laundry, which was not required but a nice way to come back from a trip. We will definitely be using Mark again in the future!”

“Mindy is a good communicator and a reliable sitter. She always leaves my house as good (or better) than I leave it, and my pets are happy and content when I get home. 10 out of 10, would recommend!”

“Michelle is incredible! She helped us immensely by caring for our pupper in home while we enjoyed a weekend away. Having recently moved, It was important for us to keep our pup less stressed in a familiar environment - Michelle totally understood and approached Finley with patience and KINDNESS!! Michelle sent the best photos of our little man and I knew he was in excellent hands. Michelle is an animal whisperer and we are just so glad to have found her 🥹 ty Michelle!!!!!”

“Samantha was so great taking care of my dog, Figgy. She was responsive to messages and sent updates with pictures. Samantha was super patient with me, as it was my first time booking a sitter, and didn’t even flinch at his complicated feeding routine or high energy.”

“Lauren was truly wonderful, she took the best care of our older dog. He is normally shy of new people, but took to her right away. Between all the walks, play time, and ear scratches, I could tell he was in the best hands while we were gone. She was on time, attentive, very communicative and friendly. She is also very knowledgeable about pets. Highly recommend!”

About: I’ve always taken care of pets anywhere I go. Growing up, I couldn’t have a pet so I made sure to take any chance to spend time with friends’ pets. I’ve raised two puppies now as well as helped care for an end of life dog. I work M-F during the day, so evenings and weekends are generally free. I have a good routine with my two dogs so it would be just fine adding more pets into the mix I enjoy taking dogs on walks just as much as I like snuggling and playing. I have a very small fenced in yard, so I'm used to plenty of walking with my dogs. I also treat other peoples homes with as much respect and care as I would for the people themselves and pride myself on being trustworthy and reliable.

About: I have been trusted with the responsibility of pet sitting since I was able to drive. Whether it is friends, family, neighbors, or friends of friends, I have always been someone my circle feels like they can depend on to take care of their homes & precious fur babies! I have experience with dog walking, house sitting, as well as drop by pet sitting. I have also been fortunate enough to have a dog of my own, Ginger, who is a 7 year old Bernadoodle! I am currently post grad working a part-time hybrid social media marketing position in town that only requires me to be on-site 2-3 days a week. Getting to spend time with animals during my down time would be a dream come true for me as I would feel great not only filling a need but getting to hangout with new fur friends while I do it! I will ensure your pet is consistently cared for and is provided with everything they may need. It is my goal to help them stay on their normal routine as much as possible while you are gone. They will be fed regularly, always have fresh water, and always be given the loving they deserve!
“Lorri was fantastic with my little guy while I went out of town. She had excellent communication with frequent photos and I felt that she genuinely cared for my dog as if it were her own. Very trustworthy and would recommend and request her again in the future!”

“Johanna was wonderful with my animals. Tonks liked her as soon as she saw her. My cat, Cloe, who doesn’t normally get seen snuggled up with Johanna. Will definitely use her again.”

“Tanya provided exceptional care for our cat and two dogs while staying over a long holiday weekend in our home. She asked excellent questions during our "meet and greet," so when it came time for us to leave our animals we knew they were in good hands. She arrived to house sit early afternoon on Friday and left late on Monday to accommodate our travel schedule. Our animals each have particular needs and personality quirks. For instance, we have one high energy dog that requires oral medication, frequent potty breaks, and long walks. Our other dog is content sleeping all day and needs to be convinced to take short walks! Plus, the energetic dog will eat the lazy dog's food if given the opportunity, so we feed them separately. Then, our cat is low maintenance, but still needs food, water, affection, and to have her box cleaned daily. Finally, the dogs wake up at 5am for breakfast (whether we're awake or not). Caring for the three of them is a lot of work and Tanya did a great job attending to their needs! We came home from vacation to happy, heathy pets and a clean house. We could not have asked for a better pet sitter. I highly recommend Tanya and would absolutely employ her services again.”

“Amanda is the best! She is a great communicator and goes the extra mile! Everything has been perfect and my puppies LOVE her! I will continue to hire Amanda if she is available!”

On top of being conscientious and responsive, Mark is just a straight up dog person — he understands them and enjoys being around them. He took great care of my pups during a several day stay while I was out of town. My dogs can be a handful on leash, and he had no problem figuring them out. I definitely recommend him.

Heather is the absolute best when it comes to caring for my dog. She is so thoughtful, kind and sends photo and video updates so I always know that my dog is in the best of care. . She’s my dog’s favorite person and I swear he looks for her when I return from my trips!

Lauren was truly wonderful, she took the best care of our older dog. He is normally shy of new people, but took to her right away. Between all the walks, play time, and ear scratches, I could tell he was in the best hands while we were gone. She was on time, attentive, very communicative and friendly. She is also very knowledgeable about pets. Highly recommend!

Sarah was a wonderful pet sitter and house guest. Throughout her stay, she was proactive, responsive, and communicative, sending regular updates and photos that gave us real peace of mind while we were away. She clearly took the responsibility seriously and made everything feel easy from a distance. We really appreciated her care and would happily recommend her.

Marissa was amazing, she gave frequent updates and pictures. Played with my dog as much as he wanted and even took him to the dog park. She also even came back when she didn’t have to in the middle of the night due to my flight getting cancelled last minute she was a life saver. Would absolutely recommend.

Zoey is fantastic and so accommodating of my pets' additional medical needs. One of my guys ended up super sick right when I was heading out of town (classic), and Zoey took great care of him giving medications multiple times per day and sending photos/updates often. I highly recommend her and always feel that my critters are safe with her.

Cory was an excellent dog walker and sitter for Hugo. He communicated really well throughout, was attentive to Hugo’s needs, and took great care of him while we were travelling. We felt completely at ease knowing Hugo was in such good hands. We’d definitely recommend Cory and look forward to having him care for Hugo again in the future.

Absolutely the best experience! From the moment we met, my usually independent dog melted into his lap during the meet and greet. Throughout the overnight stays, I received adorable pictures of her comfortably cuddled up beside him—she clearly felt safe and loved. My older male dog also went on walks and played with toys, adding to the joyful environment. Honestly, I think they might have preferred I didn’t come home! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a caring and attentive caregiver.
Olivia is fantastic. I was very nervous to leave my cats and dogs and she was reassuring and very communicative when visiting our house to care for our Pets. From the moment we met Olivia, I could tell that she genuinely cared about our pets. I highly recommend her to anyone needing pet care.

Madeline did a great job caring for our 2 beagles. She follows directions very well and is very responsible. We especially appreciated Madeline’s willingness to come on short notice after we had 3 different Rover employees cancel before even meeting us and our dogs. Madeline restored my faith in finding a responsible Rover sitter! We will try to hire her again if we need a dog sitter!

Melissa did great with our girls. One doesn't have a care in the world, but the other is reactive and takes a very long time to trust someone. Melissa stayed patient with her and even had to change her walking plan with them, but Layla warmed up at the end. I didn't worry anymore then I normally would about them with her. She sent pictures, when there was a tornado warning, she did all the right things and messaged us about it. She kept us updated all week. We are booking her for more stays over the next few months already even before we even got back from our trip!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Champaign on Rover is $38.85 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Champaign walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Champaign maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Champaign choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Champaign. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 91% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
