“Katie is so wonderful and our pets had a wonderful long weekend with her! She was very communicative, sent such cute pictures of both pets, and gave them so much love! She was also very patient, accomodating and good with our senior dog (13) when he had a rough night and wasn't sleeping well. Our cat, who isn't always the most social, also enjoyed her company (& getting food from her, of course). I would recommend Katie 1000 times over!!!!”

“Brittnee is an amazing dog sitter! She took such great care of our puppy fisher! Followed all instructions and even sent us go pro photo and video. Fisher was in great hands and got lots of love from her!”

“Mindy is a good communicator and a reliable sitter. She always leaves my house as good (or better) than I leave it, and my pets are happy and content when I get home. 10 out of 10, would recommend!”

“Cory was an excellent dog walker and sitter for Hugo. He communicated really well throughout, was attentive to Hugo’s needs, and took great care of him while we were travelling. We felt completely at ease knowing Hugo was in such good hands. We’d definitely recommend Cory and look forward to having him care for Hugo again in the future.”

“Olivia is fantastic. I was very nervous to leave my cats and dogs and she was reassuring and very communicative when visiting our house to care for our Pets. From the moment we met Olivia, I could tell that she genuinely cared about our pets. I highly recommend her to anyone needing pet care.”

“Melissa did great with our girls. One doesn't have a care in the world, but the other is reactive and takes a very long time to trust someone. Melissa stayed patient with her and even had to change her walking plan with them, but Layla warmed up at the end. I didn't worry anymore then I normally would about them with her. She sent pictures, when there was a tornado warning, she did all the right things and messaged us about it. She kept us updated all week. We are booking her for more stays over the next few months already even before we even got back from our trip!”

About: Greetings! First - thank you for considering me and my services. I have been a pet owner all my life, and have been the proud parent of hamsters, fish, cats, dogs, and a rabbit! I'm also a responsible house sitter, having been both a homeowner and a renter, I understand the value of not just your pets, but your possessions, your mail and plants, the cozy space of your home, the relationships with your neighbors. I have provided these services for friends and families for most of my life. I have always loved animals and I have always owned pets, been a member of dog parks and puppy play groups, and I volunteered for the Champaign Humane Society for many years. I have also had pets with medication needs, so I am experienced in that area. For years I also groomed my own dogs, and I know that each pet has its own needs, preferences, and personalities. Finally, I recently lost my dog of 15 years, and although I now live somewhere that does not allow pets, I need animals in my life! From my own experience of being a Rover customer for many years, I also know how important it is to pet sit within your home with no disruption to your pet's routine or surroundings. I'm retired, so I can be flexible with your scheduling needs for both your pets and your home. I'm both an early riser and a night owl, so whatever works for you also works for me! I have been both a renter and homeowner, so I know how valuable your pets are, but also your cozy home, your plants, mail, and relationships with your neighbors. I have owned a bunny, hamsters, cats and dogs. But I also have an affinity for birds and reptiles. I have provided services for friends and family most of my life, now I just want to bring in a bit of extra cash to supplement social security. I'm also mainly a homebody, so if your home or your pets need extra care or a lot of time, I'm fully available.
About: I bring years of hands-on animal care experience from veterinary clinics, kennels, and long-term pet sitting, including special-needs care for a senior dog who requires diapers, hourly potty breaks, medication management, and a strict diet. My background in veterinary support and my 5-year commitment to caring for three dogs from one family means I’m reliable, detail-oriented, and fully comfortable supporting pets with complex routines. I treat every animal with patience, confidence, and genuine love, giving owners peace of mind while they’re away. Pet care fits easily into my weekly routine because, with school wrapping up, I have plenty of time to focus on consistent, reliable visits. I plan my days around each pet’s needs, keeping feeding, walks, and medications on schedule while balancing a few prior commitments on set days. For the most part, I’m available daily, which allows me to offer flexible booking, dependable check-ins, and attentive pet-focused care that never feels rushed. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their routine exactly, keeping feeding, meds, and potty schedules consistent while maintaining a calm, clean environment. I provide gentle companionship, monitor behavior and health closely, and send regular updates so owners feel connected and reassured. My goal is to respect the home, reduce stress, and ensure every pet feels safe and understood.
About: Hi! I’m Sophia, a dependable and caring animal lover with years of experience providing attentive care and creating safe, positive environments. I love staying active, so whether your pet enjoys long walks, playtime, or just extra cuddles, I’m happy to make them feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away. I treat every pet like they’re my own and always make sure owners stay updated for peace of mind! I am currently home for the summer and work part time every once in a while so am pretty free for over night stays, drop ins or walks. I care for pets in their own home by following their normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding, walks, playtime, medications, and lots of attention. I make sure pets feel comfortable, safe, and cared for while keeping owners updated with photos and messages.
“MEGAN AND ERIC ARE THE BEST!! They took expert, loving care of our pets! They played with them and sent pictures of a game of fetch with our dog. They even stayed to comfort her during a scary thunderstorm. They're truly wonderful people. Highly recommend.”

“Kortney followed our instructions and sent us updates as requested. I felt comfortable leaving my cats with her and I’m sure they loved her! I would definitely use her services again when needed”

“Tanya provided exceptional care for our cat and two dogs while staying over a long holiday weekend in our home. She asked excellent questions during our "meet and greet," so when it came time for us to leave our animals we knew they were in good hands. She arrived to house sit early afternoon on Friday and left late on Monday to accommodate our travel schedule. Our animals each have particular needs and personality quirks. For instance, we have one high energy dog that requires oral medication, frequent potty breaks, and long walks. Our other dog is content sleeping all day and needs to be convinced to take short walks! Plus, the energetic dog will eat the lazy dog's food if given the opportunity, so we feed them separately. Then, our cat is low maintenance, but still needs food, water, affection, and to have her box cleaned daily. Finally, the dogs wake up at 5am for breakfast (whether we're awake or not). Caring for the three of them is a lot of work and Tanya did a great job attending to their needs! We came home from vacation to happy, heathy pets and a clean house. We could not have asked for a better pet sitter. I highly recommend Tanya and would absolutely employ her services again.”

“Michelle is incredible! She helped us immensely by caring for our pupper in home while we enjoyed a weekend away. Having recently moved, It was important for us to keep our pup less stressed in a familiar environment - Michelle totally understood and approached Finley with patience and KINDNESS!! Michelle sent the best photos of our little man and I knew he was in excellent hands. Michelle is an animal whisperer and we are just so glad to have found her 🥹 ty Michelle!!!!!”

“We found Lorri on Rover while looking for a new sitter after moving from out of state. Our two dogs were especially sensitive after changing homes and routines, and we can’t believe the strides they made while in her care! She sent thoughtful detailed daily updates with pictures and let us know about all the “wins” she was celebrating with our very anxious pup, Pepper. It’s clear she is a natural with animals and is so patient and compassionate with them. Our house was well taken care of and I could tell our dogs were her priority while we were away—could not have asked for anything more. Will absolutely book Lorri again and would recommend her to anyone!”
“Marissa was a great sitter for our Kai dog. She sent pictures daily and Kai ate great with her. The house was clean when we returned and Kai was well taken care of. We’d be happy to have her sit for us again :)”

“Hannah was amazing with both are twin puppies. Very prompt In responding and the pictures were amazing! I was able to enjoy vacation knowing my dogs were taking care of so well by Hannah! I will be using Hannah every time we need someone to take care of my dogs!”

FAQs for House Sitting - Rising
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 212 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Rising. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Rising walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Rising maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rising choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Rising. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 93% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
