Katie was wonderful with our very funny and particular pup. We received lots of notes and pictures. She even gave us notes on our plants and home. When we returned, our house was the same as when we left. Our dog must have thought they were great too because now they keep looking out for them.

Melissa did great with our girls. One doesn't have a care in the world, but the other is reactive and takes a very long time to trust someone. Melissa stayed patient with her and even had to change her walking plan with them, but Layla warmed up at the end. I didn't worry anymore then I normally would about them with her. She sent pictures, when there was a tornado warning, she did all the right things and messaged us about it. She kept us updated all week. We are booking her for more stays over the next few months already even before we even got back from our trip!

About: I bring years of hands-on animal care experience from veterinary clinics, kennels, and long-term pet sitting, including special-needs care for a senior dog who requires diapers, hourly potty breaks, medication management, and a strict diet. My background in veterinary support and my 5-year commitment to caring for three dogs from one family means I’m reliable, detail-oriented, and fully comfortable supporting pets with complex routines. I treat every animal with patience, confidence, and genuine love, giving owners peace of mind while they’re away. Pet care fits easily into my weekly routine because, with school wrapping up, I have plenty of time to focus on consistent, reliable visits. I plan my days around each pet’s needs, keeping feeding, walks, and medications on schedule while balancing a few prior commitments on set days. For the most part, I’m available daily, which allows me to offer flexible booking, dependable check-ins, and attentive pet-focused care that never feels rushed. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow their routine exactly, keeping feeding, meds, and potty schedules consistent while maintaining a calm, clean environment. I provide gentle companionship, monitor behavior and health closely, and send regular updates so owners feel connected and reassured. My goal is to respect the home, reduce stress, and ensure every pet feels safe and understood.

About: I have been trusted with the responsibility of pet sitting since I was able to drive. Whether it is friends, family, neighbors, or friends of friends, I have always been someone my circle feels like they can depend on to take care of their homes & precious fur babies! I have experience with dog walking, house sitting, as well as drop by pet sitting. I have also been fortunate enough to have a dog of my own, Ginger, who is a 7 year old Bernadoodle! I am currently post grad working a part-time hybrid social media marketing position in town that only requires me to be on-site 2-3 days a week. Getting to spend time with animals during my down time would be a dream come true for me as I would feel great not only filling a need but getting to hangout with new fur friends while I do it! I will ensure your pet is consistently cared for and is provided with everything they may need. It is my goal to help them stay on their normal routine as much as possible while you are gone. They will be fed regularly, always have fresh water, and always be given the loving they deserve!

Tanya provided exceptional care for our cat and two dogs while staying over a long holiday weekend in our home. She asked excellent questions during our "meet and greet," so when it came time for us to leave our animals we knew they were in good hands. She arrived to house sit early afternoon on Friday and left late on Monday to accommodate our travel schedule. Our animals each have particular needs and personality quirks. For instance, we have one high energy dog that requires oral medication, frequent potty breaks, and long walks. Our other dog is content sleeping all day and needs to be convinced to take short walks! Plus, the energetic dog will eat the lazy dog's food if given the opportunity, so we feed them separately. Then, our cat is low maintenance, but still needs food, water, affection, and to have her box cleaned daily. Finally, the dogs wake up at 5am for breakfast (whether we're awake or not). Caring for the three of them is a lot of work and Tanya did a great job attending to their needs! We came home from vacation to happy, heathy pets and a clean house. We could not have asked for a better pet sitter. I highly recommend Tanya and would absolutely employ her services again.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Wilbur Heights

Johanna is the absolute best pet sitter we have ever found through Rover. We have three dogs and one cat. She walks two of our dogs first and then the third one separately because he has old and slow. She plays ball with our energetic, middle-aged dog, keeps the youngest dog from digging holes in the yard, and make sure the senior dog is comfortable and loved. The cat is not neglected. Either, she keeps the cat fed and litter box cleaned. We came home after a four day trip to sparkling cleaned house and four happy animals. Communication is also great, she sends picture updates and is responsive, but only interrupt our vacation when absolutely necessary. I can tell she’s good at figuring out what the animals need to keep them happy which is no simple task when there are four of them. Highly recommend.

Nicole watched our small dog while staying at our house while we were away for about 5 days. Our dog seemed to really like her. She kept him happy with small walks, lounging in, or rolling in the grass, or just hanging out cuddling. She kept us well-informed about how he was doing, and sent pictures daily (which made us miss him more!) We wouldn't hesitate to ask Nicole again to sit for us.

Mark was fantastic! We were out of town for nearly a week the first time Mark house/dog-sat (he had previously walked our pup), and Mark handled everything. Most importantly, our dog loves him! But Mark also brought in the mail, kept an eye on things around the house during some large storms, and communicated with us regularly. The day we were coming home, Mark was willing to stay later during a tornado watch when our flights were delayed. He also left the house very clean in terms of dishes and laundry, which was not required but a nice way to come back from a trip. We will definitely be using Mark again in the future!

Absolutely the best experience! From the moment we met, my usually independent dog melted into his lap during the meet and greet. Throughout the overnight stays, I received adorable pictures of her comfortably cuddled up beside him—she clearly felt safe and loved. My older male dog also went on walks and played with toys, adding to the joyful environment. Honestly, I think they might have preferred I didn’t come home! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a caring and attentive caregiver.

FAQs for House Sitting - Wilbur Heights

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Wilbur Heights on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 215 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Wilbur Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wilbur Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wilbur Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wilbur Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Wilbur Heights. On Rover:

  • 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 93% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
