“Michelle was great with our pup, Duke! Duke can be a handful and was recovering from surgery while Michelle was here. We thought he might be confused and anxious while we were out. But he took to Michelle right away and was responding to commands before we even walked out the door. Michelle sent us pictures of him calm and snoozing while we were out too. Michelle was on time, personable, and friendly. We plan to book again in the future!”

“My pups and I all love Olivia! She did a great job with my two shy pups and sent me pictures and an update after the visit was over. I will be booking with Olivia again!”

“Melissa was wonderful and did a great job watching my cat, Sophie. I loved getting the daily checkin cards. Sophie was happy and really seemed to enjoy the company. Her coat was so soft and shiny, she must have enjoyed being brushed as well. Will certainly book again!”

“We’re excited for Sophie to watch our cats in a few weeks, and this was a great practice night! She is friendly and clearly cares about the pets in her care. One of ours needs meds, and she handled it perfectly! We were incredibly comfortable with her caring for them.”

About: Greetings! First - thank you for considering me and my services. I have been a pet owner all my life, and have been the proud parent of hamsters, fish, cats, dogs, and a rabbit! I'm also a responsible house sitter, having been both a homeowner and a renter, I understand the value of not just your pets, but your possessions, your mail and plants, the cozy space of your home, the relationships with your neighbors. I have provided these services for friends and families for most of my life. I have always loved animals and I have always owned pets, been a member of dog parks and puppy play groups, and I volunteered for the Champaign Humane Society for many years. I have also had pets with medication needs, so I am experienced in that area. For years I also groomed my own dogs, and I know that each pet has its own needs, preferences, and personalities. Finally, I recently lost my dog of 15 years, and although I now live somewhere that does not allow pets, I need animals in my life! From my own experience of being a Rover customer for many years, I also know how important it is to pet sit within your home with no disruption to your pet's routine or surroundings. I'm retired, so I can be flexible with your scheduling needs for both your pets and your home. I'm both an early riser and a night owl, so whatever works for you also works for me! I have been both a renter and homeowner, so I know how valuable your pets are, but also your cozy home, your plants, mail, and relationships with your neighbors. I have owned a bunny, hamsters, cats and dogs. But I also have an affinity for birds and reptiles. I have provided services for friends and family most of my life, now I just want to bring in a bit of extra cash to supplement social security. I'm also mainly a homebody, so if your home or your pets need extra care or a lot of time, I'm fully available.
About: I have two friendly cats and backyard chickens. I have had cats and dogs for most of my life. I go trail hiking at local forest preserves and state parks 2-4 times a week and would love to take your dog with me! I only have one dog guest at a time (unless they are from the same home) so I can give them lots of care and attention and provide you with regular updates and photos. You will know your pet is being well looked after. My goal is to make your pet feel like it is on a fun vacation while you are on a fun vacation. Nothing makes me happier than dogs I've cared before, coming back and pulling on their leash to come into my house on their next visit! I only work half-time so I have plenty of time for pets. I know how important your pet is to you and I'm very responsible. My dog guests are walked at least three times a day including a walk or hike of 30 minutes or longer. They are also able to use my fenced in backyard when the chickens are locked up for the night .
“Amber was great, again. She provides informative updates with pictures after every visit so I know how things are going and how my cat is doing, and I know my cat is in good hands while I'm gone.”

“Thank you so much, Ava! I could tell Mikey was well cared for because he wasn’t even that excited to see me when I got home 😆 thanks for taking such good care of him, I really appreciate it!”

“Theresa was absolutely wonderful! She was prompt and reliable and so attentive to our cats. Theresa is clearly an animal person and we will book her again in a heartbeat!”

“I needed a cat sitter last minute, and Kenzie responded quickly . She followed all the instructions carefully and sent me photos of my two cats and the outdoor cat she cared for. Kenzie was very responsive and responsible. She went above and beyond by taking care of them. She always showed up on time, and all the cats are doing great. I will definitely hire Kenzie again next time!”

About: I’ve spent 7+ years caring for friends, families, and neighbors. Animals have always been a big part of my life, and I treat all animals like they’re my own. I’m attentive, patient, and detail-oriented when it comes to their needs, whether it’s a long walk, a belly rub, or just quiet company. Because I work from home every day, your pet will never be left alone for long. I can easily adjust to your pet’s feeding, walking, and playtime schedule, and I’ll always make sure they feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. I have a flexible schedule due to my work-from-home lifestyle. I already take morning walks to start my day, mid-day walks to recharge, and evening walks around 5pm CT - perfect times for furry companions to get exercise and fresh air. During the workday, I can easily accommodate feeding, potty breaks, or playtime, and weekends are even more open for longer walks, drop-ins, or overnight care. Your pet’s comfort and routine will always be my priority. When I’m caring for pets in my home, I create a calm and safe environment with plenty of cozy spots for rest and areas to play. I follow your care instructions closely — from feeding times to exercise routines — and keep your pet’s wellbeing front and center. I will maintain your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible. I make sure they have fresh food, water, and a clean area, and I always send regular photo and message updates so you can relax knowing they’re happy and well cared for.
“Sarah was a wonderful pet sitter! We got updates and pictures, which were not expected but totally appreciated. She was communicative, easy to work with, and so very kind to our doggies, even spending a little extra time with them. We couldn’t be happier with her!”

“My German Shepherd dog fell in love with Tanya at first sight! She's obviously loves animals. Everything went great, will definitely book Tanya again! Appreciated the photos of my dog and cat while I was away!”

“Alicia always does a wonderful job but this was our first time ever leaving our boy for the day with someone other than family. She was so kind with him and provided the most detailed updates. Best dog sitter ever!”

“This was my first time using Rover to allow somebody to come in my house and walk my dog. Faith’s says it all. She was very loving toward my dog sent pictures and updates which I loved. She has just a natural way of making you feel comfortable and dog feel comfortable. I felt relieved being a state away that my dog was being taken care of so well I recommend faith 100 out of 100.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Champaign
Archie was amazing with my cat, Connie. It was my first time leaving him alone for two weeks but Archie kept me updated with everything going on. I returned to a really happy, content kitty and a well-kept home. Archie also took care of my plants, I’m so thankful to have had them look after everything. Will rebook Archie in a heartbeat 💓

Ann was such a great find! She’s personable and clearly knows cats and how to deal with them. Our three are all very different, with a weird separation schedule, and she handled so them with ease. We will definitely be contacting her for our next trip. Feel free to contact me if you’d like to know more or want a reference.

Katie has been very accommodating and patient as we do some drop-in meetings so that she and SugarBear can get to know each other, as a lead-in into a longer, dog-sitting session. I appreciate Katie being available to work with SugarBear, who is always happy (too happy!) to see her.

Highly recommend. My first time using Rover and wasn’t sure what to expect. I usually take my two (older but active) dogs with me on trips, but couldn’t this time. Sarah bonded with the dogs quickly, and then went beyond my expectations in check-ins, providing not just basic care, but giving meds, playing with them, and giving me the reassurance I needed.

This is the second time Faith has looked after my dog. Our interpersonal interaction was cordial. She sent pics of my dog, and he seemed like a pretty inferior guard dog based on how it seemed he interacted with her. My dog seemed happy when I got home. In other words, I'd request Faith's services again.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
