“Tyler did an awesome job taking care of Harry this weekend! He was attentive, communicated often, sent pictures and truly loved on our dog while we were away! We will be reaching out to him again!”

“Emily was great to work with and communicated really well through the whole process. We’d never used Rover before and she made the process a breeze and made our pup (and us!) comfortable as we were out of town😊 definitely will use her services again!! Thank you Emily!”

“We had a wonderful experience with Michela! She stayed at our house for two nights and took care of our 10 year old pup. Michela communicated with us throughout the stay. This was our first visit, and it was clear early on in the visit that our dog was in caring and trustworthy hands. Michela is kind, reliable, understanding, and she treated our pup with so much care and attention. We would absolutely recommend Michela to anyone looking for a dependable and compassionate Rover sitter, and we look forward to booking with her again!”

Over the summer I'm looking for work wherever I can take it but mostly open. In the school year I am usually never gone more than 3 hours. I live in a pet friendly basement apartment with air conditioning. There is space for a kennel and other supplies if needed. It's not gigantic is very clean and the complex has a bark park.
“Eliza was wonderful to work with and a total natural with animals. We were so impressed by her flexibility; when we realized we’d booked the wrong return date, she didn't hesitate to stay an extra night to ensure our dogs were safe and cared for. Highly recommended!”

“Adriana was willing to watch our dog overnight while our dog was recovering from a surgery. We were very grateful to find someone so compassionate on short notice over a holiday.”

About: Hi! I’m Grace, a proud doodle owner with experience caring for dogs of all personalities, including administering medications. Whether it’s a walk, drop-in visit, or overnight stay, I’ll treat your pet like family and make sure they feel safe, loved, and well cared for while you’re away. I currently work part time, this gives me flexibility to do drop-in visits, walks, and overnight care. I’m available nearly everyday and would love to meet your pets. Your pets comfort is my number one priority. I want to make sure I stay in routine with what they are used to while a new face is around.
“Elizabeth did an excellent job with our 2 big dogs, for a 2-day out of town trip (on rather short notice). She kept us updated with videos, walked both of them and now has 2 new furry friends.”

About: Hi, I’m Bailey! My love for pets has become a big part of my personality, as I grew up in a household that adores the company of furry friends. Currently, we have two loving Bernedoodles, three fuzzy cats, 4 calming fish, and a goofy ferret. Our home just doesn’t feel the same when there’s not a different creature in every room! Over the years, I’ve become the go-to sitter for friends, family, and neighbors as well. Through my personal life and pet sitting, I have experience with dogs of all sizes, and cats of all ages. I’ve cared for all sorts of animals, from guinea pigs, rats, and hamsters, to fish, turtles, and frogs. In addition, I’m well versed in young pet training, senior pet care, and medication of many types. That being said, my eagerness to provide does not stop at my experience, and I am always open to opportunities to learn about and spend time with new animals. I graduated high school in 2026, and I am looking for a fun way to gain experience and earn money during my gap year. I love nature, adventures, and creative endeavors of all sorts. I work a part time job at a family-owned restaurant in the Cedar Valley area, and this usually requires around 5 hours of my time, 2-3 days a week (Typically Tuesday/Wednesday, and Friday/Saturday). I want to make sure your pets get the care they deserve, and I will redirect you if this responsibility of mine conflicts with your schedule in a way that compromises the care you expect for your animal(s). I am open for daily check-ins, but my focus is on overnight stays. I would love to help everyone in your household stay comfortable during the occasion that you are separated from your furbabies. My main emphasis with pet sitting is well-rounded communication, especially in regards to you and your animal’s preferences. This includes any expectations you have of me, whether that be for meal times, activity, medication, or potty schedules. I am flexible and eager to help, but most of all, I want to ensure your pets stay healthy and happy while you’re away. In my experience, transparent communication is the key to achieving a smooth and stress-free sit. Nonetheless, I prioritize communication on my end as well, and will send updates and pictures as often as you would like me to. I enter every home with respect for the space and it’s inhabitants. I understand that to your furry companions, I am a stranger, and I allow pets to approach and introduce themselves to me at whatever rate they feel comfortable. I am adaptive to personal preferences, and will accommodate your pet’s needs to the best of my ability. Whether this entails snuggles and pets, enrichment and play, or walks of varying length, I am open to it all! I want to make sure your furry family member feels the pressure of routine change at the very least intensity possible. Caring for pets is a huge passion of mine, and I would be honored to take yours under my wing. Contact me for further information! At my current part-time food service job, I am occupied for 4-5 hours, 2-3 days a week. This typically falls on a Tuesday or Wednesday, and Friday or Saturday. These five hour shifts either start at 10:00 am or 3/4:00 pm, leaving plenty of time in my day to care for your pets. I also attend martial arts practice 45 minutes every Thursday evening. The only other time-consuming parts of my daily routine are commitments to family and friends, and volunteer work as a member of the nonprofit Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Of course, when pet sitting, your animals are my top priority. When I have your furry companion under my care, my more ‘’optional” duties come last. I am very flexible when it comes to adapting to your household’s routine, and will go above and beyond to accommodate. Whether this calls for 5:00 am feedings, or extra long walks, you can count me in! I enter every situation with patience, making sure your animals are first met with calmness. I believe that animals can be quite intuitive, and often feed off energy from those around them. Allowing them to approach me first, and modifying my behavior in response to different body language signs is how I secure trusting relationships with animals. In terms of daily expectations, I can manage daytime activities like walks, play, or trick-training, feeding requirements like free-graze, routine meals, or food-aligned medication, and nighttime expectations like kenneling, or staying in a certain area during bedtime. Just let me know what you and your animal need, and I’ll be happy to make it happen! Outside of pet care, I can help make sure your home stays in order while you’re away. I love cleaning, and if you need the trash taken out, the mail picked up, or the plants watered, shoot me a message! I am not only house sitting for your pet’s sake, but for yours as well, and I want to help ease the anxiety that comes with being away from home.

“Claire was the perfect sitter! She is professional and a great communicator. We were out of the country and felt completely at ease knowing she was with our two dogs. She kept in touch daily with updates and pictures. When we got home, we could tell the dogs (and our house) were well taken care of. She also proactively offered to stay longer, knowing a snow storm was on the way that may delay our travel. Would highly recommend her to anyone needing a long-term sitter.”

“Canzadie was wonderful- she was on time and took wonderful care of Bella. When I got home Bella was sleeping and not anxious at all - this is the first time I had left her all day and so happy with the care and love she had while I was out. Will definitely contact Canzadie again and would recommend her.”

We had a wonderful experience with Michela! We would absolutely recommend Michela to anyone looking for a dependable and compassionate Rover sitter, and we look forward to booking with her again!

Harley stayed with Lindsay for almost a week while I was out of state. We did a meet-and-greet beforehand and Harley immediately felt comfortable around her. This was his first time staying with someone while I was gone, but I felt confident he was in great hands. He came home happy and well cared for!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cedar Falls walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cedar Falls maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cedar Falls choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
