“Jayne did a great job caring for my cats and dog while I was away for a week. They were happy and my place was left just as I left it (maybe even a little cleaner). I would definitely hire her again.”

About: I grew up with many pets. For example, I’ve had 6 birds, 3 hamsters, 1 dwarf gerbil, 1 leopard gecko, 2 cats, 2 dogs, and possibly more. I currently have 2 dogs. Both are rescues. Jasper is 2 years old and I’ve had him since he was about a month old if even that, and Raleigh who is 7 now. I’ve had her since she was 2. Aside from the doggy babies, I also currently have a brown anole that I took in from Florida. His name is Tommy and I’ve had him for 4 months now. He was a baby when I found him. I also have 2 fish, Gumball and Penny. I personally believe all animals are babies. I’ve also pet sit for family members before. I’m currently working part time and I am also a freshman in College. I do have a good bit of free time, and because I don’t live alone I have people home to help take care of my furry and scaled friends, where as some people may need some extra help that I’d be able to provide! I was raised right. I’m respectful, do not cross boundaries, and know better than to disrespect clients (human and animal, of course!) I’m a big empath, I love animals beyond comprehension. I’m a vegetarian that’s working my way to veganism if that can show you how empathetic I am. I also cry while watching Ratatouille. I love walking, I love talking to animals, I treat animals as if they are literal babies because they are just too cute!

“Nadia was absolutely amazing!! She took such great care of my baby girl!! she pays great attention to detail and was able to help me a lot when it came to my puppies potty routine. I work overnight shifts so having someone as caring and amazing as Nadia helped ease my anxiety while I was at work! 10/10 recommend💗💗💗. Will definitely be booking with her again!!!”

“Second time I used Imani and not only did I come home to a happy dog (as happy as he can be as the grumpiest dog ever) but also to a perfect home which makes it seem like she was never here and so she must be a wizard! Thank you see you next time!”
“We recently hired Sara to take care of our cat while we were away for two weeks. We had hired her last year as well, and our kitty loves her, so we knew he would be in good hands. Because he likes being with people, Sara stayed in our house. All went very smoothly. She communicated with us regularly, sending photos and videos, and we came back to a happy kitty. The house was in great order, and she went the extra mile of watering some of our outdoor plants during a hot spell, putting trash down to the street, and even washing the towels and sheets before she left. We highly recommend Sara and she'll be our first call next time we need cat sitting!”

“Jaz was great. She took wonderful care, including lots of brushing, for our two cats for an extended period. She was responsive and also took great care of our house while we were gone. Would definitely book again.”

“Very grateful for Jayla!! She sent me constant updates on my pet with pictures and left my apartment incredibly neat. She even took the time to organize a bit. Would 100% work with her again.”

“Karima took excellent care of our dog Goose and our apartment while we were away for over a week. She was caring, responsive, and helpful throughout her stay. She sent us daily updates and was very professional. She left our apartment clean and Goose absolutely loved her! I would definitely book with Karima again and suggest her for any of your dog sitting needs.”

“Brian was amazing. We had a last-minute request over the holidays, and he truly saved us. He stayed at our home and took excellent care of our dog, King, who isn’t always the easiest, but Brian stepped in confidently and made it work without issue. Communication was great; he was always responsive and kept us at ease while we were away. We came home to a happy dog and a house left in great condition. We would absolutely book Brian again and highly recommend him to anyone on Rover.”

“Anh was wonderful with our dog Wilbur- she sent us updates and was really sweet to him. She stayed over at our place which we appreciated because our pup can get a little anxious. Anh left us a very nice note and left the house very clean. We will definitely be reaching out to Anh again until the future for dog care!!”

“Jayla did a wonderful job caring for our home and our dog Eli and I would certainly book again in the future. She was communicative, reliable, responsive, and took care of everything we had asked of her.”

“Incredible experience with Latisha. Shiner is healing from a leg surgery and is a high energy pup and she managed his care phenomenally and provided constant updates and photos. Highly recommend working with her.”

“We highly recommend Alex to care for your dog! Once we met him, we had no concerns about leaving our challenging great dane mix with Alex. He clearly loves dogs of all sizes and temperaments, and he took great care of her while we were away for a week. Alex communicated promptly and was flexible, so the dog sitting was one less thing to worry about on our trip. We won't hesitate to leave her with him again anytime we can!”
“Ann did great with Rufus! He loved hanging with her and is already excited for her to come over again. Ann was very responsive when I texted for pictures to help me miss Rufus a little less, and took great care of my home while sitting for Rufus. Highly recommend Ann for sitting services!”

“Shannon was amazing with my dog Cash while I was away for a few days! Shannon provided daily pictures and videos, as well as updates as to how he was doing. I was very impressed with how detailed she was in her updates, and I didn’t worry at all about him while I was away! I highly recommend Shannon!”

“Bria was the perfect pet sitter. She took great care of our dogs over a week period and left our house in perfect condition. She sent lots of photos and asked all the right questions. We will definitely be using Bria again in the future! Thank you Bria!”

Mizu was in the best care while I was gone. Anh gave daily updates and made sure medications were given on time. She gave Mizu regular walks and prepped all his meals accordingly. She kept the house neat and clean after. She was also responsive and kept me updated at all times. She notified me as soon as she saw Mizu's usual skin condition to be sure everything was okay. I will definitely reach out if I need her again next time I plan a trip.

Mickela was truly a dream house sitter! She was incredibly responsive throughout our stay, sent lots of photos and updates, and, most importantly, spent so much time with our pets. We really appreciated knowing they were getting plenty of attention and care while we were away. Our dog has epilepsy and needs medication, which Mickela handled with no problem at all. He also has a habit of getting into things and eating things he shouldn’t, and she was so understanding and attentive to his quirks. She took such great care of both our pets and made us feel completely at ease. On top of all of that, she was extremely tidy and left our house absolutely spotless. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and would highly recommend Mickela to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, responsive, and respectful of their home. We would absolutely have her stay with our pets again!

Trina was absolutely amazing! She kept me fully informed with regular updates throughout the entire stay, which gave me total peace of mind. To make things even better, my travel plans got seriously delayed on my way home, and Trina was incredibly responsible and accommodating. She immediately adjusted her own schedule to cover the extra time needed until I could get back. I cannot recommend her enough and will definitely be booking with her again!

Kayla was an amazing sitter for Asja during my time away! I am very particular about my dog and can normally gauge from the meet and greet if the sitter is a good fit. The care, attention to detail, follow up, professionalism, and the love she has for her job and her furry clients are just a few shining examples of her superior work ethic. We were gone for almost a week and I could enjoy my trip knowing she was there taking care of and giving the best of care to my Asja. I highly recommend Kayla and plan to use her for future sittings.

Corraly did a FANTASTIC job caring for our sweet boy Prince and home while away for a week long vacation celebrating our 1st year marriage anniversary, and we could not have been more pleased with her services. This was our first time working with Corraly and she made a quick bond with Prince that clearly grew during the days they spent together. She texted daily updates and included lovely photos of their time spent together in our home and during long walks and was super responsive throughout her stay. We (including Prince) 100000% highly recommend Corraly and look forward to her future dogsitting stay 🤎 🖤

Natalie is an outstanding sitter. She is super professional and intentional with caregiving. Our dogs got plenty of exercise, stayed on their schedule, and got a ton of extra attention while we were away. We received updates and photos throughout. Natalie stayed in our home, and communicated any home related issues and took wonderful care of our space. You won’t regret booking! We look forward to working with Natalie again in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 10,519 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Capitol Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Capitol Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Capitol Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Capitol Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
