I returned home to happy, safe, and exercised doggies! I had such peace just knowing they were taken care of. She has skills. Period!

This is Andrew's second time with Stephanie pet sitting and I know it will not be his last! He was calm and clearly well-cared for when we got home. Andrew is blind so it's not easy for him to have new adventures but Stephanie kept him occupied with massages, games and lots of affection. He is not crazy about taking walks but Stephanie somehow got him to take a 45 minute walk! She sent us detailed updates and funny, adorable photos. I feel very comfortable with Stephanie. We were able to take our trip without worry. Plus, the house was beautiful when we got home.

She asked lots of questions to make sure she was on top of everything, especially since we weren't able to do a usual meet and greet in advance. She kept me informed about the pets during her entire stay. Her willingness to be flexible and communicative made an awful situation less stressful.

Mark went above and beyond, not just walking and caring for my dog, but taking him for road trips around the area during a weeklong stay. Watching him and my dog interact, it’s clear that my dog really liked him and that Mark combined gentle caring with firm direction in an optimal way. Mark also left my house cleaner than he found it, which was a nice bonus. Would wholly recommend Mark if you need a safe set of hands to dog/house sit.

Atiya was amazing! She stayed at our house for a week and took care of two dogs and a cat. One of the dogs went on a hunger strike and she was patient and creative in trying to get her to eat. She eventually shared her own dog’s food and treats, and that worked! Then she left a baggie of it for us when she left. Incredibly kind and a great communicator. The house was perfect when we got home as well. Highly recommend Atiya!

MJ was outstanding. Our regular sitter wasn't able to watch our dogs for our 10-day vacation, but MJ was able to step-in and take care of them like they were her own. She also took care of our tortoise and watered our plants while we were gone. I can't recall the last time I was on vacation and not worrying about our dogs back home. I would book MJ again in a heartbeat.

We had such a wonderful experience! He stayed at our house over the holiday weekend and cared for our dog, our cat, and even our foster cat. From the start, he put all of our worries at ease with regular updates and pictures, and it was clear how much he genuinely loves animals. All of our pets were happy and well cared for when we got home. On top of that, he was respectful of our home and left everything in great shape. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for reliable, caring help!

This was the first time that I worked with Bradley and had him both house sit and most importantly dog sit for my 135 lb. mastiff mix dog. He did a great job caring for Bosco; Bosco was in great shape when I returned from my trip. Bradley also cared for the house, getting the mail, checking for damage after a major thunderstorm and then letting me know that everything was ok. When I returned everything was in great condition and clean. I would not hesitate to ask Bradley for help when the need arises.

I had never met Emily before our meet and greet, so this was my first experience with her housesitting for my two kittens. Do not be put off by her low number of reviews on the platform - snatch Emily up when you can and help her grow her business on here. During the meet and greet and during her time watching Enzo and Romeo, she was thoughtful, respectful, and asked good questions. She was wonderful with the cats, they looked so happy in all the photos and videos she sent each day. We came back, as others have mentioned, to a very tidy apartment, and she had even washed the sheets which was so appreciated but not necessary! Our boys were so soft (and we can tell they are happy and healthy by the quality of their coats) so they were clearly happy and healthy after Emily cared for them. We will be thrilled to hire her again and trust her to care for our babies!

Mizu was in the best care while I was gone. Anh gave daily updates and made sure medications were given on time. She gave Mizu regular walks and prepped all his meals accordingly. She kept the house neat and clean after. She was also responsive and kept me updated at all times. She notified me as soon as she saw Mizu's usual skin condition to be sure everything was okay. I will definitely reach out if I need her again next time I plan a trip.

Mickela was truly a dream house sitter! She was incredibly responsive throughout our stay, sent lots of photos and updates, and, most importantly, spent so much time with our pets. We really appreciated knowing they were getting plenty of attention and care while we were away. Our dog has epilepsy and needs medication, which Mickela handled with no problem at all. He also has a habit of getting into things and eating things he shouldn’t, and she was so understanding and attentive to his quirks. She took such great care of both our pets and made us feel completely at ease. On top of all of that, she was extremely tidy and left our house absolutely spotless. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and would highly recommend Mickela to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, responsive, and respectful of their home. We would absolutely have her stay with our pets again!

Corraly did a FANTASTIC job caring for our sweet boy Prince and home while away for a week long vacation celebrating our 1st year marriage anniversary, and we could not have been more pleased with her services. This was our first time working with Corraly and she made a quick bond with Prince that clearly grew during the days they spent together. She texted daily updates and included lovely photos of their time spent together in our home and during long walks and was super responsive throughout her stay. We (including Prince) 100000% highly recommend Corraly and look forward to her future dogsitting stay 🤎 🖤

I am a first time Rover user, and was for a long time very wary of allowing strangers to take care of my fur babies. Roy, unequivocally, is the reason this site works. Roy communicated often, thoroughly, and was even patient when we had app difficulties and my communication lapsed. Roy took care of my two dogs and one cat and provided stimulation and lots of cuddles. We came home to a house that was pristine and three happy and healthy pets. As I told Roy personally, having the peace of mind to actually enjoy the vacation is nearly invaluable. We are very thankful to Roy and will definitely be booking again should the time come!

FAQs for House Sitting - Fairmount Heights

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Fairmount Heights on Rover is $52.71 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 10,656 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fairmount Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fairmount Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fairmount Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fairmount Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fairmount Heights. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
