“Ashley was fantastic! One of the best rover experiences we’ve had. She did everything we requested and more. It’s evident that she loves dogs and our dogs loved her too, even our fragile shelter pup who takes awhile to warm up. Both our pups were calm, energetic and happy when we got home, couldn’t have asked for more.”

“Shannon was great and took really good care of Lady! She sent pictures and was very communicative the whole time. I could tell she really cared for Lady while she watched her.”

“Anh was amazing with Pico. She jumped in last minute and handled everything so thoughtfully - including some unexpected tummy issues and his occasional puppy chaos. She kept me fully updated the whole time and sent lots of great photos, which I really appreciated. It made such a difference being able to see how he was doing. Pico is used to being with me all the time, so social interaction is really important for him. Anh adjusted to Pico’s needs and routine and also made him part of hers - giving him so much extra love and attention. You can’t always guarantee that level of care when you’re away, and I’m so grateful I never had to worry. I would absolutely recommend Anh to anyone without hesitation!”

“Alayza was really responsive throughout, and sent frequent updates. I especially appreciated being able to have a meet & greet prior to booking, to ensure my pups and Alayza would be comfortable with each other (and of course they were!). We will definitely work with her again!”

“Jayla was amazing, she took great care of my furry best friend and my home. She sent regular, wonderful updates so I could tell my pup was happy and safe, and allowed me to really enjoy my time away. I would absolutely trust her to watch my pup again and recommend her!!”

“This was our 2nd time booking Hannah, and our first time being away from our dog for so long. Hannah kept us updated with pictures and anecdotes throughout the day. We would definitely book with Hannah again in the future.”

“Mya did a wonderful job watching our two dogs! She went above and beyond in spending extra time with them and sent us tons of photos and videos. It was obvious that our dogs loved spending time with her and were well cared for. We would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, hands-on dog sitter for their pup(s)!”
“Dee was great! Very communicative and sent lots of pictures while I was gone. She was great at recognizing and giving my dog the time she needed to get used to a new person and brought the nice calm energy that she needs.”

“Keisha saved our Christmas plans! When our sitter canceled last minute, it was such a relief when Keisha was so willing to do a same-day meet and greet, and stay with my elderly dog for the week of Christmas. She was responsive the whole time, and we returned to a happy dog and clean house. She even treated Marley to a Christmas present, which was so sweet!”

“Bryan was a wonderful guest and communicator! His flexibility was much appreciated when we had a medical emergency with our youngest that required some last minute schedule changes. We will definitely be using him again!!”

About: 🐾 About Me Hi! My name is Amiria, and animals have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve personally cared for dogs, cats, and even a snake, so I’m comfortable with pets that have different personalities, routines, and care needs. Whether your pet is energetic and loves to play, independent and likes their space, or just wants someone nearby to keep them company, I’m happy to work with their personality and needs. Most importantly, I’ll treat your pets with patience, kindness, and care. I know they’re family, and I’ll do my best to make sure they feel right at home while you’re away. 🐶🐱🐍 My schedule is currently very flexible, so I’m available most days and times, including weekdays, weekends, evenings, and overnight stays. I have plenty of time to play with your pets and give them the care and attention while your away. I’m comfortable caring for pets in their home, allowing them to stay in a familiar environment while I maintain their normal routines and provide attentive care.

“Anthony watched our senior pup and cat and they were happy and healthy when we got home! Anthony was a good communicator leading up to and during the stay and treated our home with respect. Thank you!!”
“5+ stars. All the stars! Due to my schedule I couldn't do a meet and greet beforehand, but that didn't change anything. Our 3 Bullies LOVED her! You would've thought she had been with them before. I returned home to happy, safe, and exercised doggies! I had such peace just knowing they were taken care of. She has skills. Period!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - District Heights
This was the first time that I worked with Bradley and had him both house sit and most importantly dog sit for my 135 lb. mastiff mix dog. He did a great job caring for Bosco; Bosco was in great shape when I returned from my trip. Bradley also cared for the house, getting the mail, checking for damage after a major thunderstorm and then letting me know that everything was ok. When I returned everything was in great condition and clean. I would not hesitate to ask Bradley for help when the need arises.

I had never met Emily before our meet and greet, so this was my first experience with her housesitting for my two kittens. Do not be put off by her low number of reviews on the platform - snatch Emily up when you can and help her grow her business on here. During the meet and greet and during her time watching Enzo and Romeo, she was thoughtful, respectful, and asked good questions. She was wonderful with the cats, they looked so happy in all the photos and videos she sent each day. We came back, as others have mentioned, to a very tidy apartment, and she had even washed the sheets which was so appreciated but not necessary! Our boys were so soft (and we can tell they are happy and healthy by the quality of their coats) so they were clearly happy and healthy after Emily cared for them. We will be thrilled to hire her again and trust her to care for our babies!

Mizu was in the best care while I was gone. Anh gave daily updates and made sure medications were given on time. She gave Mizu regular walks and prepped all his meals accordingly. She kept the house neat and clean after. She was also responsive and kept me updated at all times. She notified me as soon as she saw Mizu's usual skin condition to be sure everything was okay. I will definitely reach out if I need her again next time I plan a trip.

Trina was absolutely amazing! She kept me fully informed with regular updates throughout the entire stay, which gave me total peace of mind. To make things even better, my travel plans got seriously delayed on my way home, and Trina was incredibly responsible and accommodating. She immediately adjusted her own schedule to cover the extra time needed until I could get back. I cannot recommend her enough and will definitely be booking with her again!

Kayla was an amazing sitter for Asja during my time away! I am very particular about my dog and can normally gauge from the meet and greet if the sitter is a good fit. The care, attention to detail, follow up, professionalism, and the love she has for her job and her furry clients are just a few shining examples of her superior work ethic. We were gone for almost a week and I could enjoy my trip knowing she was there taking care of and giving the best of care to my Asja. I highly recommend Kayla and plan to use her for future sittings.

Natalie is an outstanding sitter. She is super professional and intentional with caregiving. Our dogs got plenty of exercise, stayed on their schedule, and got a ton of extra attention while we were away. We received updates and photos throughout. Natalie stayed in our home, and communicated any home related issues and took wonderful care of our space. You won’t regret booking! We look forward to working with Natalie again in the future.

I am a first time Rover user, and was for a long time very wary of allowing strangers to take care of my fur babies. Roy, unequivocally, is the reason this site works. Roy communicated often, thoroughly, and was even patient when we had app difficulties and my communication lapsed. Roy took care of my two dogs and one cat and provided stimulation and lots of cuddles. We came home to a house that was pristine and three happy and healthy pets. As I told Roy personally, having the peace of mind to actually enjoy the vacation is nearly invaluable. We are very thankful to Roy and will definitely be booking again should the time come!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in District Heights on Rover is $39.59 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 10,312 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across District Heights. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred District Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in District Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in District Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in District Heights. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
