About: As a pet owner myself, I know how important it is to leave your furry family member with someone you can trust. I’ve owned my French Bulldog for the past 3 years and have also cared for larger breeds such as Golden Retrievers and Huskies. My experience includes walking, feeding, playing, providing companionship, and even taking dogs to veterinary appointments when needed. I take the time to learn each pet’s routine and personality so they feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for. I also have experience caring for rabbits, giving me confidence working with different types of pets. I’m currently home for the summer while studying dentistry in Europe, which gives me a very flexible schedule. I can dedicate my full attention to caring for your pet and am available throughout the week, including weekends. I’m also happy to accommodate your pet’s regular routine and, when possible, last-minute bookings. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I carefully follow feeding schedules, walking routines, medications (if needed), and any special instructions you provide. I understand that every pet has different needs and personalities, so I adapt my care accordingly. To give you peace of mind, I’ll send frequent photo and video updates so you always know how your pet is doing while you’re away.
“Jessica is a wonderful doggie sitter 5 +++stars! We have 3 dogs so she had her hands full ! Jessica was so amazing with them as one of our boys is elderly at 16.5 years old and needed a little more tlc. Jessica went above an beyond with them & we couldn't be more thrilled and happy they were looked after so well. I think the dogs wish she was still here instead of us with all of there extra attention they received . We would hands down book Jessica again for our next trip.”

“This is my 5th time booking with Bozhena, and I still couldn't be happier. I was worried about this booking because it was over the holidays, but Bozehena bent over backwards to make things work, and left my home in perfect condition knowing I still had hosting duties when I got back. But most importantly, my dog was happy, healthy and well-cared for as always! I came home to a stress-free pup!”
“Anna was a wonderful sitter for my two pups. They had an amazing time and were well cared for and tired out by the time we got back. She kept us updated throughout the day and sent lots of pictures of their happy faces. I would definitely recommend Anna to anyone looking for a sitter.”
“Thank you Reba for taking care of our two cats and dog while we were away for 2 nights. Reba is communicative, she can handle our timid rescue dog and is easy to work with! Thank you Reba!”

About: I went to college for Veterinary Assisting in 2019, and have had various experiences. I've worked in Vet clinics and hospitals and frequently pet sit for friends and family. I have a huge love of animals of every kind! From the furry, to the scaly, and even the feathered! I have experience working with animals from all stages of life, as well as furry friends with specialized diets. Put your faith in me and you won't be disappointed! I have full availability for your furry friends when I’m not at other pet sitting jobs! I am super flexible so feel free to send me a message to see if our schedules align :) This is dependent on the species, breed and what their specific needs are. For example, in college, I owned 2 rats who needed consistent enrichment activities, regular baths and grooming, as well as all the love and snuggles they wanted! They both lived 2 very long happy lives up until and even past their life expectancy. I now own a large and thriving aquarium which I love and adore.
“This was my very first time leaving my fur baby and I can only try to express how amazing Ella was overall. I have major issues with anxiety and OCD, however she was so patient with me and answered all my questions prior to us leaving. She was nothing short of amazing as she kept me updated each day and when we came home it was obvious my fur baby absolutely loved his time with her as he didn’t want her to leave. We will definitely be having her back again!”

“Having Maria (and her partner Max) staying at our place with our pup Brandee was like having family staying with her. We loved receiving the updates and pictures (we just knew that she was well care for). Our original plans with Maria included Brandee being left alone for a period of time until we returned home but our travel plans were delayed. Maria returned (without hesitation) to ensure that Brandee was ok, took her for a walk and then another treat of course. This just proves Maria’s commitment and passion for the care of your furry little family member. We definitely have Maria & Max back to look after Brandee.”

About: ***PRICE TRANSPARENCY: It's come to my attention that Rover service fees are inflating prices for what you can see on my profile. I am not happy about this. I am currently making $19.20 per 30 min drop-in/walk, but the posted price by Rover is much higher <---It was never my intention to charge this much, and I encourage clients to send Rover Support feedback about their fees, pricing and how their hijacking sitters' profiles by doing this. If you are unable to afford the current price, please message me anyway, and I can try to work within your budget. I'm an experienced Foster home, home visit and phone screener previously for a few home based rescues for dogs and cats. I've owned dogs and currently have 4 rescue cats. Adopt, don't shop is how I live. Experience and age (mine lol) matter. I love pets; I've opened my home numerous times to foster animals. I regard myself as an important link in the chain to allow pet owners to keep their pets instead of having to give them up due to having to work outside the home, or other reasons that we confront in rescue :) I collect pet food donations from PetValu partners in the city and give to citizens in need & sanctuaries. I want to make a difference. Creator of Ava's Foundation. I work a hybrid schedule, therefore many days of the week I am available for a drop in to your own place or possibly dog walking before work, during the work day, after work and in the evenings. I try to build up rapport with the dog or cat in question by talking to them as I enter the house, make them feel at ease with my voice in my presence, so that they love to see me and know that I mean fun and games and FOOD. I always make sure that the litter is cleaned or the dog is petted and loved and I’ve even taken care of rabbits who loved to see me because they knew that they would get fun and treats and their living area cleaned and tidied..

I treat every pet as if they were my own, ensuring they feel comfortable, happy, and well cared for while you're away. I currently work full time at a veterinary clinic, however, I have 2-3 days off each week that I dedicate to pet care services. My experience in a veterinary setting has strengthened my knowledge of animal behavior, health, and well-being, allowing me to provide attentive and reliable care for pets of all ages and needs. “Finding the right person to care for your dogs is never easy, especially when you have two energetic six-month-old puppies. Deborah exceeded every expectation. Her energy matched theirs perfectly, and it was clear from the start that she is not only a wonderful caregiver but also highly experienced with young dogs. What impressed us most was her commitment to maintaining the training and routines we had been working so hard to establish. That consistency was incredibly important to us, and it gave us complete confidence that our puppies were in excellent hands. Deborah was also exceptionally flexible and accommodating as our travel plans unexpectedly changed throughout the week. Her willingness to adjust her schedule without hesitation made an already stressful situation so much easier. We returned home to two happy, well-cared-for puppies, and we are genuinely grateful for the care, professionalism, and peace of mind Deborah provided. We would recommend her without hesitation and look forward to having her care for our dogs again.”

Ella house sat and watched our two big dogs for a week. The boys had loads of fun, great walks, and the house was really clean when we came home! We have a reactive anxious dog and she was able to accommodate his crazy :) - would def recommend and we will be using again.

I'm so grateful I found Amanda on Rover. I can tell by the pics she sent me how comfortable Cornie felt with her and I'm so grateful. It's always difficult to leave my baby and all the updates made it so much easier. I'll definitely be booking Amanda in the future.

Jessica seemed to a wonderful job looking after Emma. This was our first experience with a private dog sitter. Emma told me she did a good job walking her in a timely fashion. The only thing that Emma(the dog),was that she did not think that she got enough food. 😁. Over all we were very pleased with the whole experience. 👍

Anna was a wonderful sitter for my two pups. They had an amazing time and were well cared for and tired out by the time we got back. She kept us updated throughout the day and sent lots of pictures of their happy faces. I would definitely recommend Anna to anyone looking for a sitter.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Newmarket maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Newmarket walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newmarket choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 81% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 88% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
