About: Have had dogs most of my life. Everything from a Chihuahua to a Rottweiller and German Shephard. Have always loved dogs. Look forward to meeting with you to discuss your needs. My schedule is quite flexible. I am willing to travel to homes in Aurora, Newmarket and parts of King City. We currently have a rescue from Georgia. We have also rescued a racing Greyhound and a Siberian Husky. Will also apply my dog training experience while walking your dog. We have lived in Newmarket for 3 1/2 years. Prior to that we lived in Richmond Hill. Our previous dogs lived a long time which is a testament to how well we took care of them. Our Rottweiller and Siberian Husky lived to almost 15 years old. I am retired. So my schedule is in my control. I am able to be available for furry friends as needed. Looking forward to new 4 legged friends. When looking after your pet, they will become a part of our family. They will get lots of attention. Have access to our large yard and go multiple walks per day.

About: Lifelong dog owner and passionate animal lover. Although I don't have professional pet care experience, I've cared for dogs for family, friends, and neighbours for years. I'm reliable, attentive, and committed to making sure your dog feels safe, happy, and loved. I am currently working part-time/causal so I have plenty of time to play with your pups! I can stop by really anytime throughout the day unless stated others. I am also very flexible on weekends! For dog walks and drop-in visits, your pet's safety, comfort, and routine are my top priorities. I understand that every dog has unique needs, so I ask owners to provide a written summary of their pet's routine, feeding schedule, walking preferences, commands, medications (if applicable), emergency contacts, and any special care instructions. This helps me provide consistent care and ensures your dog stays comfortable while you're away. During visits and walks, I will follow your instructions carefully, provide plenty of attention and exercise, ensure fresh water is available, and keep your dog safe at all times. As a lifelong dog owner, I know how important it is to maintain familiar routines and provide loving, reliable care you can trust.
“Thanks Melanie Duke loved your visits. The pictures you sent were priceless I looked forward to your report cards everyday. Melanie was very kind and will definitely look after your pet as if they were her own I will definitely use Melanie again no issues”

“Deborah was absolutely amazing with Ernie(our St.Bernard/Poodle). She came and met him and was gentle and soft spoken and only took a few minutes to see the connections. She communicated extremely well, and sent pictures and video updates while caring for Ernie, which was amazing. Ernie seemed to be very happy and we would definitely be calling on Deborah in the future.”

“Thank you Lisa for not only taking good care of Alexa but also patiently cultivating a friendship with her 😊 Communication with cat parent was grear too! Will definitely book again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Newmarket
They did drop in visits with my 2 very shy cats while we were out of town. We told them to not expect much from our one of the cats so we were shocked to receive pictures of our most timid cat getting close to them almost immediately and then happily receiving pets after only a few days. Clearly they have a special way with cats! Litter was clean and cats were fed and given lots of love while we were away. I hope to hire them again next time we need cat care.

We can't express enough for Anthony took care of Rockie when we were on vacation. It was the first time Rockie was away from us. He is 8 yrs old St Bernard. We were really worried at the beginning. Anthony dropped in on time every day. He fed and walked Rockie and sent us pictures and videos every day. Rockie likes him and we feel he did not miss us at all LOL. We had a great vacation all because of Anthony's help. Really appreciated! If anyone needs drop in visit or even just walking for their pets, we do strongly recommend Anthony.
Laura was amazing. Very attentive to our cat and treated him like family. Mikko is a shy boy but he opened up to her right away. Laura provide great feedback and took excellent photos. We felt at ease with Laura watching our boy. Will definitely be using Laura again when we go out of town. Thanks again!

Ariel is wonderful! Our shepherd pup Gus can be a bit aloof and unsure of new people but he has warmed to Ariel quickly and has a blast when she stops in for his pee & plays whilst we are at work! She’s great at following specific schedule needs and is considerate of our home too 💕 Would highly recommend

John has looked after our 2 dogs once so far but we will book with him again! He was very communicative and sent a bunch of photos and a video which showed that our dogs were very happy to spend time with him. Everything was great! He's very knowledgable about dogs and we trust him to look after our dogs.

Ankita took such great care of my two dogs while popping in for a drop in visit today! We first started with a meet and greet to see if we’d be a good fit and then scheduled a visit. I felt incredibly comfortable with Ankita! She sent me photos and updates about the girls visit. Will book again and refer :)

Whether you’re at the office for the day or travelling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer poop breaks during a Newmarket stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. You can coordinate how much supervision you want directly with your sitter. While every sitter’s schedule varies, here are some examples of supervision by pet care service:
- Boarding or doggy day care: Many sitters can provide frequent companionship because they design their day specifically around the pets in their care or work from home.
- House sitting: Your sitter generally stays in your home for the requested duration, which may include overnight care. They may step out briefly to visit other pet clients, but your home remains their primary base.
- Drop-in visits or dog walking: These can be scheduled in 30- or 60-minute windows (and can be shorter or longer at your request) to help your pet receive dedicated attention and care during those specific times.
Interested in constant or 24/7 care? This service often incurs an additional fee but many sitters are happy to discuss this option with you.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Newmarket choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
