“Gail/Gale was amazing with our very senior dog and middle age cat. We had updates and pictures that really gave us a sense of their wellbeing. Our dog doesn’t typically eat for anyone other than us for the first while but he did for her! Amazing. The house was kept up perfect also. I would recommend her for anyone that needs loving care for their fur babies. :)”

“Kathryn was a fantastic sitter for our two cats and somewhat difficult dog at times. He's afraid of strangers but warmed up just fine after we were away for ten days. Kathryn updated us daily with adorable photos and asked straight forward questions about our household to make her stay better (some details we forgot to provide before leaving!) She put in time before our departure to get to know our dog several times, going on walks We highly recommend Kathryn!”

“Angela did FANTASTIC with our pets. There were things we were worried about because our animals are….unique and quite sappy, but that wasn’t a concern to Angela at all. She rocked it and did so great with them. Our dog usually gets nervous with us leaving and doesn’t eat or go to the bathroom much, but that didn’t happen with Angela at all. She is very confident and is fully capable and able to take care of our animals, no problem. We highly recommend her! Will be reaching out to her again on our next travels for sure!”

“Kailey did an amazing job watching our dog & cat! She sent daily updates without being asked. She left a note with details when she left. The pets were happy & the house was clean! What more can you ask for! Would definitely recommend!”

“Erik is fantastic, he took the best care of our home and boy, and we could not be more pleased with his service. Everything in our home was gleaming, and our boy was calm and satisfied when we arrived home which told us so much. Thank you Erik for everything. We cannot recommend you highly enough to the entire Rover community. Truly deserving of every single star in this 5 star review.”

“Darcia was amazing! First time we hired her and it was the best choice! Our two dogs absolutely loved her staying with them and we got daily photos and updates which helped us to truly relax knowing they were in such great care. Our house was spotless coming home! Really looking forward to our next travel so we can hire her again!”

About: I've grown up with pets and have experience caring for dogs of all sizes and energy levels. Whether your pup loves lounging on the couch or going on an adventurous hike, I'm happy to match their vibe. I’m also comfortable with senior care and basic puppy training, so your pet will be in good hands, no matter their age or needs. Since I work from home most days, I have plenty of time to care for your pet. I can easily fit in walks, playtime, or cozy check-ins throughout the day to keep your furry friend happy and comfortable. Being home means I’m always nearby, ready to give your pet the attention they need whenever they need it. When caring for pets in my home, I create a safe, calm environment where they can feel relaxed and loved. I stick to their usual routines as much as possible, including feeding, playtime, and rest. When I care for pets in their own homes, I respect their space and follow any instructions carefully to keep them comfortable and stress-free. Whether at my place or theirs, my goal is to provide consistent, attentive care tailored to each pet’s needs.
About: Hello! I have lived with dogs & cats numerous times over the years and miss being around them! I grew up with many small animals well loved including a tarantula, gold fish, frogs, budgies, and a cockatiel. I have owned two guinea pigs as an adult and absolutely spoiled them with a massive cage and toys, to make up for the one I had as a kid I didn't know how to take care of and have extensive knowledge with them. I also have experience watching bearded dragons, crested geckos, and other small animals. I love looking up information on different animals and breeds as I get to know them and further my knowledge. Thank you for considering me! I work part-time and attend school. Caring for animals is a wonderful way to relax and enjoy life and the personalities that all different animals offer. I am very cautious with plants, things left on the floor, food sensitives and any instructions and needs that the animal has to offer, and you request to feel reassured leaving your pet in my hands.
“Lorina was a huge help for me! I had reached out on Christmas Eve to be a house-sitter as the one I had bailed on me last minute. Lorina came over Xmas day when she had time and also stayed the night and spent all the next day at my house with my 13 year old cat. She made all the worry go away and I’m so thankful she was able to help me with such short notice!”

“Rachael was wonderful, housesitting for our two senior cats. I don’t really like to take them out of their home environment anymore and Rachael was a perfect fit - from the moment she met each of them, they felt comfortable with her… even our shy guy, Thomas, who usually spends the first 24-48 hrs hiding from anyone who he considers a stranger! We’d love to have Rachael housesit for us - and the boys - again.”

“Kayla is conscientious and caring. She seems to understand my dog's needs and works with them. She has been working with my one dogs leash reactivity and understands her behavior. I so appreciate Kayla's gentle and calm manner.”

“Kirstin was INCREDIBLE with our puppy!! Our puppy instantly loved her when she came into our home and Kirstin was very easy to communicate with during scheduling and while we were away on our trip. She went above and beyond for us. Highly recommend! We will definitely be booking her again.”

About: I am a university student at UBCO living at home with my family and 2 dogs. This gives me the unique flexibility to stay overnight and care for pets on short notice. I have had dogs my whole life, and currently have a senior rescue, and a puppy at home. This gives me the experience I need to care for all kinds of dogs, well trained, not yet trained, puppies, seniors, rescues, purebreds etc. I have been dog and cat sitting for family friends several times a year for over 3 years since high school. I am a very responsible person, extremely reliable, and communicate well. I love the outdoors and going for walks, as well as lazy days at home. I have a very flexible school and work schedule. I am a student at UBCO and have several 3-4 hour gaps in my day which I can come home and spend time with the pets. I am done my classes around dinner time, and can come straight home for the evening. On the weekends, I am a server at a restaurant in town and generally only work 4-6 hour shifts. This means I am around for the majority of the day. I have been dog walking for many years as I have had dogs my whole life. With clients, I try and keep the pet’s routine as similar as possible to their owner’s. I like to be around as much as possible and keep the pets as comfortable as they can be while their owner is away.
About: I’m currently experiencing puppy fever, but I’m not entirely sure if I should commit fully to a pooch at this point as I am in a apartment. But for short visits and long walks would be amazing at this time. Looking forward to getting to meet your little one! I grew up with a beautiful golden retriever who loved the outdoors and swimming. I miss her sooo much. I’m thinking about getting a smaller dog! So here I am, willing to care for your precious pup. Looking for companions to keep me busy and someone to take on long walks. I work from 3pm-11pm Tuesday-Saturday. I also have Sunday/Monday completely free :) I would prefer dogs to come stay with me, but willing to come to yours if your dog prefers to stay at home. I make sure nothing is left out for the dogs to get into. I follow personalized instructions to respect the owners training. We go for walks that are suited to each dog.
About: I've had animals of my own my whole life and taken care of other's pets for 30+ years. I love all animals, but dogs are my favorite and they only sleep with me if they're allowed 😉. I'm just as happy cuddling with a cat though! I work from home, so I can provide around the clock care for your fur babies! I work from home and have lots of freedom and time to walk and care for your pets. I enjoy being active with the animals, also cuddling up and relaxing. I will provide care for your pets in your home exactly as you see fit. I follow directions well, am adaptable, and just want you and your animals to feel safe and cared for. I'm clean, conscientious and understand the trust and respect needed to have others in your personal space, and I honor that.
“Lora was a wonderful sitter for my dog, Mo. She was very friendly at the meet and greet and asked all the right questions, and I could tell right away she would be great with Mo. While I was away, she sent photos and updates and I came home to a content pup. I would definitely recommend Lora!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Kelowna
We had such a great experience with Felicia! Polly is fear reactive and has a lot of specific needs, so we were a little nervous leaving her, but Felicia was calm, patient, and caring from the start. Polly warmed up to her right away and so we instantly felt great about leaving Polly with her. She sent daily updates and photos, took amazing care of Polly, and also left our house in great shape. We felt completely at ease knowing Polly was in such good hands. We would highly recommend her and would happily book with her again!

We are so pleased we booked Carla for Gracie’s care. Carla displayed confidence and as a result, Gracie responded positively to her. I was very happy that Carla kept us well informed on a daily basis of how things were going, as well sent us numerous photos. We have already booked her for our next trip!

Rachael was wonderful, housesitting for our two senior cats. I don’t really like to take them out of their home environment anymore and Rachael was a perfect fit - from the moment she met each of them, they felt comfortable with her… even our shy guy, Thomas, who usually spends the first 24-48 hrs hiding from anyone who he considers a stranger! We’d love to have Rachael housesit for us - and the boys - again.

Rhiannon took wonderful care of our two pups in our home while we were away for an extended weekend. Both dogs warmed up to her instantly upon meeting her, and we very much enjoyed the daily photos of them having fun together. We came home to happy, healthy dogs and our home in great condition. We would be happy to have Rhiannon stay with our beloved pups again in the future!

We booked Jocelynn last minute as our typical sitter was away. She was amazing with our girls, followed all instructions, sent lots of photos and videos for us to see, and went above and beyond our expectations. Will definitely book again when we need a sitter!

Shana did a wonderful job of looking after our 3+ animals and our home while we were away! I was anxious having a stranger in our home and looking after our fur babies but I would not hesitate to hire Shana again. Our animals were healthy and happy when we returned. Our home was immaculate and even all the plants were alive. We have two cats and a dog and a few hens. Each with special feeding requirements. Shana did everything that was asked of her and was respectful of our home and our privacy.
Courtney has cared for our anxious pup three times now and we have been very happy. Our dog seemed so much more comfortable this last time we left for 10 days. She takes this job very seriously and demonstrates a strong sense of compassion and care. She was flexible and willing to adapt when we had to add a couple of days to our trip. Thank you Courtney!

I wanted to share my wonderful experience with Ashley. She provided exceptional care for my 2 fur babies, and I truly appreciated the consistent photo updates she sent. It was clear that their well-being was her top priority. Ashley is highly attentive and professional, adhering to her own disciplined standards, such as never leaving the dogs alone for more than four hours. She was very accommodating of my schedule and paid close attention to every detail. As an added bonus, she even tidied up and washed the sheets during a single-night stay. This was absolutely five-star service, and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Kelowna on Rover is $51.06 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 322 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kelowna. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kelowna maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kelowna walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kelowna choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
