“We are so happy with Shana! Our dogs and cat are so happy and content when we come home after a weekend away. Shana leaves our home very clean and just as the way we left it. We will definitely have her stay with us again!”

“Erik was absolutely great with our puppy! He updated us throughout the day with videos and pictures and it was clear how much he enjoyed spending the day with her. He took her on lots and lots of walks, which was so appreciated! Highly highly recommend”

“Kirsten took exceptional care of our two dogs while we were away, and I am so grateful we found her!!!!!! Our 10-year-old senior dachshund has significant anxiety and has only ever stayed with one trusted sitter since she was a puppy. Leaving her with someone new was a huge step for us. Not only did our senior girl eat all of her meals while we were away, but she was relaxed, comfortable, and even slept with Kirsten- something she has never done with anyone she didn't trust. Our seven-month-old rescue puppy is still learning all the basics, including leash walking and building confidence outside the home. Kirsten was patient and wonderful with her, and our puppy did great during her walks and daily training routine. The greatest compliment I can give is that I felt completely comfortable leaving our dogs in Kirsten's care. It was clear they felt safe, loved, and well cared for. We came home to happy, settled dogs, which means everything to us.They are my baby’s and I can’t remember a time I left and felt this way. Thank you, Kirsten, for taking such wonderful care of our girls. We would happily trust you with them again.”

“Leah was an absolute lifesaver during a very difficult time for our family. She went above and beyond from the very beginning, making time to meet us, our dogs, chickens and ducks beforehand and accommodating a last-minute booking with less than 24 hours’ notice. Communication was outstanding throughout the entire experience. Her pre-booking contact was thorough and reassuring, and she kept us updated while we were away, giving us complete peace of mind. Most importantly, Leah genuinely prioritized our dogs’ needs. They are loving but reactive dogs and can be demanding to care for, yet she handled them with patience, understanding, and confidence. She took them on adventures, ensured they were well cared for, and treated them as if they were her own. We could not be happier with the experience. While Leah may be at the higher end of the price range, she is worth every penny for the level of care, professionalism, and peace of mind she provides. We are incredibly grateful for everything she did and would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for exceptional pet and house care. Especially more demanding or special need scenarios. Thank you Leah!!!”

“As far as we are concerned Magdala is a dog whisperer. We have an extremely timid Shih-tzu we got during Covid. She has never been left alone. We tried some doggy daycares but she was very stressed out. Magdala came over for a meet and greet and Pepper spent the whole time by her side. That has never happened! Today Magdala came to our place to look after Pepper all day and after the initial excitement of us coming home she is totally relaxed. 5 stars all the way!!!”

“Karissa has been so great! We appreciated the updates and photos of Bowie on walks and snuggles, definitely a dog lover. So lovely, calm and we definitely are glad we made such an awesome connection, highly recommend Karissa! Kathy, Huntley & Bowie”

“Lora was super friendly at the meet and greet and was great with both of our dogs. She sent an update every day while we were which was much appreciated! The dogs were clean and happy when we came home ?”

About: I have looked after family and friends dogs. One particular friend has a dog who is very physically impaired and very nippy with people. Many neighbours complimented me on how I was managing this dog as a few of them had to attend to him from time to time and had not had a great experience. I looked after this dog in his home for 12 days and had no problems. They have invited me back to take care of him anytime they go away. My daughter just got a new dog and she is full of energy and I love looking after her. Most dogs are attracted to me. I have been told many times that this dog never goes to strangers and they’ll come to me.. I am retired so with a few days notice I can alter my schedule to give you piece of mind and come let your dog out and take it for a walk. I am physically fit and love walking. I can take care of your dog in your backyard, house or go for a walk. I love to give them lots of cuddles and scratchings, And treats only if approved by owner. I will never give any food/treats to a dog unless I consult with the owner.
“Eva was amazing. I wish I could leave more than 5 stars. She took such great care of my cat and also went above and beyond to take care of my home while I was gone. That was such a treat to come home to after an exhausting trip. She listened well to all my instructions and took great care to make sure everything was taken care of. Will definitely be using her services again.”

“Skyler stayed in our home and cared for our zoo of two large dogs, two large cats and two goldfish. During his stay he sent us regular photos and updates of what they were up to which was nice to see! We knew the animals were all being well cared for. When we arrived home, Skyler left a cute little surprise of polaroids of the animals pinned to our christmas tree. It was the sweetest touch. We definitely will be hiring again!”

“Isabella is the best! She is very responsible and personable, and took great care of my cat Gooseberry! I appreciated the pictures she provided over the weekend. Goose also liked her a lot! :)”

“Melissa was AMAZING! She took such good care of our 1 year old Bernese Mountain dog, Luna, and it was so nice to feel at ease while we were away. She took Luna on lots of adventures and updated us every day! We will definitely be asking her to dog sit again, thank you Melissa!”

“I was so reluctant to use Rover but then I found Shelly! Now I’m reluctant to leave this review because I don’t want her to get too busy and not be available but she deserves a glowing reference from me. Shelly, is absolutely the best and I feel so blessed to have found her…she is experienced with all their meds, loving and reliable. I highly recommend her as a caregiver. A+++ (and I don’t leave this review lightly….I am very particular when it comes to my babies )”

“I can’t say enough about Tiernan! She was so good to my 7mth old puppy. I had to leave him for 5 days for the first time and was a bit nervous. Tiernan came over a few days before to meet us and I instantly felt better about leaving Archie in her care. She sent the sweetest pictures and messages about Archie AND I came home to a spotless house! I really hope I can have Tiernan stay with Archie the next time I have to go out of town. ❤️”

“What a relief leaving Rosie with Jada. She was kind and professional. Sending photos daily of Rosie. Would highly recommend Jada to anyone that needs a kind caring person for their pets!”

“Sasha was absolutely wonderful with our puppy, Lambo. She showed up on time, she settled him from his separation anxiety quite quickly, she provided us photos and updates by text message while we were at a wedding. When we were checking out of the Inn the next day, the host mentioned that she saw her walking Lambo around the property and sitting with him in an onsite gazebo giving him plenty of attention. We couldn't be more pleased with the service that Sasha H provided us. We would definitely use her services again!”

About: I have a deep love for animals and years of hands-on experience caring for pets of all ages, from playful puppies to senior companions. What sets me apart is my ability to understand each pet’s unique personality and needs—whether it’s providing gentle care for older animals, reinforcing training with consistency and patience, or ensuring high-energy pets get the exercise and stimulation they need. I’m also highly responsible and detail-oriented, making sure feeding schedules, medications, and routines are followed exactly as needed. Beyond basic care, I genuinely enjoy bonding with animals, offering plenty of attention, affection, and playtime to keep them happy and comfortable while their owners are away. I know how important peace of mind is when leaving a pet in someone else’s care, so I provide regular updates and photos to keep owners reassured. Whether it’s a quiet cuddle session, a structured walk, or keeping up with training cues, I tailor my care to what each pet needs most. Pet care seamlessly fits into my daily routine as I prioritize reliability and consistency. Whether it’s drop-in visits, walks, or overnight care, I ensure pets get the attention, exercise, and affection they need. My flexible schedule allows me to accommodate various needs, from morning feedings to evening cuddles. I prioritize creating a safe, stress-free environment for every pet. I carefully follow all care instructions, maintain clean and pet-friendly spaces, and ensure routines are consistent to provide comfort and stability. Trust is key—I communicate regularly with owners, respect their home, and always prioritize a pet’s well-being and security.
About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover with a special soft spot for cats. I’ve had cats my entire life and understand their personalities, quirks, and need for calm, consistent care—especially when their humans are away. Whether your pet is social and playful or more on the “observe from a distance” side, I’m happy to meet them where they’re at. I’m comfortable administering medications (oral and topical), have experience with daily insulin injections, and I take a patient, gentle approach to make it as stress-free as possible for your pet. While cats are my specialty, I’ve also cared for small dogs and even chickens—so I’m very comfortable managing a variety of routines and needs. I work a structured 9-5 daytime schedule, which allows me to provide consistent and predictable pet care. I am available for morning and evening visits, and I offer overnight house sitting for pets who are comfortable with a normal daytime routine. Because I carefully manage my schedule and take on a limited number of clients at a time, I can provide reliable care, regular updates, and plenty of attention while you're away. When caring for pets in a client's home, my goal is to keep their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, litter box and exercise routines, and any household guidelines provided by the owner. I understand that every pet is different. Some cats want lots of interaction and playtime, while others prefer quiet companionship and consistency. I take the time to learn each pet's personality and adjust my approach accordingly. Safety and communication are important to me. I provide regular updates and photos so owners know how their pets are doing while they're away. If I ever have a question or concern, I communicate promptly rather than making assumptions. I also treat my clients' homes with the same care and respect I would expect in my own home, ensuring pets remain safe, comfortable, and secure until their owners return.

Eva was so amazing with our two dogs! Our one dog is reactive and anxious and she did so amazing with him. They were so settled and content while we were away! She went above and beyond in our dog care and took amazing care of our home while we were away! I could not recommend her enough!

Janine is fantastic! She is professional, reliable, and always go above and beyond when caring for our pets and home. We have complete peace of mind while we're away. As an added bonus, we always come home to a sparkling clean house. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an exceptional pet sitter!

Melissa was great; she sent me updates and pictures of my precious Bella while I was away. Bella is always a little shy at first but it didn't take her long to warm up to Melissa and they had a great time while I was away on business. I would not hesitate to to reccommend or have Melissa sit for Bella again!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Kelowna maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Kelowna walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Kelowna choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
