“Brooke and James are awesome! They took such good care of our furbabies! I would definitely recommend them to other people! The house was clean with all the bedding and towels washed, which made for a pleasant return!”
“Tamara was amazing! She was sending pictures of my dogs every day without me asking for them which I really appreciated. She’s the sweetest. Her and her partner left the house clean and tidy. I would have them again at home anytime!”

“I have had Leah house sit my senior cat several times and each time has been fantastic. She sends photos and detailed notes every day. I have no issues leaving my cat in Leah’s care and will definitely request her again next time I am going out of town.”

“Morgan went above and beyond our expectations. She is a genuine animal lover and it is so evident. We have two demanding male cats and a senior female cat who has special needs. We came home to happy and well fed kitties - not to mention a very clean house. Morgan stayed in contact with us while we were away with lots of photos. Any concerns we had were non-existent as we realized what a responsible and caring person Morgan is. Would not hesitate to recommend her and we will definitely ask her again to pet sit.”

“Kirstin was INCREDIBLE with our puppy!! Our puppy instantly loved her when she came into our home and Kirstin was very easy to communicate with during scheduling and while we were away on our trip. She went above and beyond for us. Highly recommend! We will definitely be booking her again.”

“This was our first time meeting Christina and having her stay overnight with Bean. Christina has a very calm energy and clearly loves animals. 10/10 good with communication, responsible, reliable, and "go with the flow" attitude. Will 100% book again.”

“Lindsey was absolutely fantastic. I felt so at ease leaving Buddy (my 8 year old cocker spaniel) with her. She was super organised and her communication was excellent. She sent updates and pictures at the end of everyday and put Buddy’s needs first. Our home was super clean and tidy when we arrived home. I would 100% have Lindsey to sit Buddy in the future and would not hesitate to recommend her to take care of your pets and home.”

“Tammy stayed at our house to watch our two senior dogs, including one that requires twice daily medication. She was easy to talk to, got along great with the pups and left the house in perfect order when she left. I'd definitely recommend her and plan to use her again!”

About: Just lost my 18 year old teacup yorkie to old age and missing furry companionship but don’t want to commit to another 18 years yet I work in the evening Friday and Thursday and Saturday dayshifts I work evenings caring for a lady with dementia as well but dogs are welcome there and the 92 year old loves dog visits ! Makes her happy! I have a fenced yard but would be taking your pet out on leash walks and loving them and my daughter loves dogs as well
About: I've had many pets throughout my life, including a snake, hedgehog, dog, and many cats! I'm a quiet person and I enjoy spending time with animals. I recently moved back to the area so I have a lot of free time to watch your pets! Day or night, whatever you need. If I'm staying at your house I will respect the house rules and follow the guidelines you give me in order to give your animals the best experience possible.
“Nadia was wonderful with Molson. She gave us daily updates and included pictures. She also went above and beyond and made sure that our home was spotless when we returned. This was a bonus that I wasn't expecting but was much appreciated given that we arrived home late in the evening after a long day of travel. We would highly recommend Nadia. Thank you! Thank you!”

“I can’t say enough good things about Sarah’s calm, kind nature and how wonderful she was with our beloved pet cat Hannie. Hannie bonded with Sarah straight away and we felt very comfortable leaving Hannie with her. Not only was Sarah a wonderful pet sitter, she did odd jobs around the house as well. I would highly recommend Sarah to anyone as a house/pet splitter in their home.”

About: Hello! I am a zoology (animal biology) graduate from Laurentian University who has an extreme passion for the care and health of wild and domesticated animals. I’ve had/cared for multiple types of house pets including cats/kittens, dogs/puppies, snakes, lizards, turtles/tortoises, birds, and fish ever since I was 10-12. I have experience administering medications to cats and dogs under my care, ensuring they have enough exercise, and giving them love and care every animal deserves. For those looking for cat care, I have multitudes of experience with cats as I have adopted and raised my own cat (Arlo) since a kitten and have helped/advised family and friends on the care for theirs. I’ve done cat sitting since I’ve been really young with senior/kittens and volunteered at a cat rehab centre during university giving me experience with slowly socializing feral and temperamental cats. Those looking for dog care, I’ve had dogs all my life, mostly medium to large dogs like my families St.Bernard/Lab/Mastiff and our passed Labrador but I also have experience looking after smaller dogs. I’ve cared for puppies to middle age to senior dogs and have also had experience with dogs with medical issues (ex. Dogs who have experienced seizures or strokes). Pet care has always been a natural part of my daily life. As a recent graduate with a flexible schedule, I now have even more time and energy to dedicate to caring for pets. I love spending time outdoors and being active, so daily walks and playtime with pets easily fit into my routine. I also enjoy creating a calm and safe environment for animals at home, whether it’s feeding, grooming, or just giving them the attention they need. When pet sitting in a clients home, I make sure to follow the pet’s usual routine to help them feel comfortable and secure while their owner is away. This includes feeding, walks, playtime, and any special care like administering medication or sticking to training habits. I keep the home clean, ensure your privacy as a client, and treat the home with the same respect I would my own. For dog walking, I focus on safety by making sure leashes and harnesses are secure, avoiding unsafe or overly crowded areas, and keeping a close eye on the dog’s behaviour and energy level. I also believe communication is key, so I can also provide updates to let you know how your pets are doing.
About: **PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING** Hi there! My name is Melissa. I have been caring for dogs since I was 10 years old. Some people call me the dog whisperer but I'm not here to brag ;) A little About Me… My dog Daisy is the love of my life so I completely understand how scary it can be leaving your precious fur babies with a stranger. My hope is to make sure that both dogs and owners are comfortable and happy with allowing me to take care of their pets while they are busy or away. Which is why I always meet pet parents before booking with me. I have owned and cared for puppies, adult and senior dogs. I treat all dogs as if they were my own. I promise, I will love and care for your pet with patience and compassion. I can walk dogs and check in on pets multiple times a day. I’m a student but doing all my schooling online so my schedule is very flexible. I care for pets in the same way I would care for my own and based on the instructions given by the owner. It is pet specific.

About: I've always had a deep care for animals, and have never met a pet that I didn't love (and that didn't love me)! I have lots of experience (unfortunately) with administering medications and caring for my own terminally ill rescue pets over the years. I am between jobs at the moment, so my schedule is wide open! I love to explore the valley, so I'm consistently between Westbank and Enderby scoping out new hiking spots. I will stay with your pet for as little or as much time as you'd like! I am a helicopter parent to my own pets, so I have no issue following whatever requests you have that might seem crazy to others.
“Alara was great with house sitting and caring for my two senior cats, one of whom needs twice daily insulin injections. I came home to two very chill kitties, and a home that was kept very clean and in order. I really appreciated it and I would have no hesitation in booking Alara for the next time we go away and want to feel at ease with leaving our pets.”
About: 🐾 What Sets Me Apart 🐾 I have had pets my whole life. Since I was a young child. We always had dogs, cats, chickens, hamsters and fish. I loved taking care of them but since getting older I have not had a chance to have my own as I generally am in rentals that don't allow pets so I love to look after others when they are away. I treat every pet like my own, catering to their unique needs, routines and quirks. I am experienced & trustworthy – I have years of experience with dogs & cats of all sizes, breeds and temperaments. Clients often call me the pet whisperer as their pet comes to me willingly when they might not with others because of my calm, gentle and grounded personality. As a trauma recovery coach specializing in nervous system regulation, I create a soothing and safe environment for pets, especially anxious or rescue animals. I take your dogs on engaging walks, engage in interactive play with your pets and give mindful attention to their well-being, not just basic care. I am flexible & reliable – I work around your schedule to ensure stress-free pet care. I work from home as I am a Trauma Recovery Coach so I see my clients online. I generally help clients regulate their nervous system or give them mindfulness practices. So I am often doing meditations with them or calming sessions with them. I take breaks in between clients and go for walks so can be sure to give your pet the extra attention it needs. I generally go to your home to take care of your pet. I do have a yard with a fence right now though which is helpful.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Vernon
This was our first time using a dog sitter in our own home & not only were we blown away with Brooke, but we could tell our dog was a lot happier/more comfortable while we were gone. The updates we received from Brooke were great & allowed us to fully enjoy our trip since we could see our dog was having a blast and well taken care of (he was definitely getting more attention and exercise than he normally gets due to us having 2 young kids)! I almost felt sad for our dog that he would have to say goodbye to Brooke. It’s a good thing we will definitely have her watch him again! A bonus: There was no evidence that someone was in our house while we were gone as we came back to a super tidy & clean space.

Tamara was great! I got lots of updates during my trip about my house and my dog. Abloh had a great time going for runs beside her bicycle, camping, and swimming. She really treated him like her own! I would highly recommend to anyone needing a sitter in the future.

Alara was amazing with our dog Sammy! Sammy is a very anxious dog and Alara has a very calming demeanour and Sammy reacted very positively to her. She took him for walks every day and sent us many pictures. We were gone 10 days and I was concerned as we had never left him with someone he doesn’t know. I wouldn’t hesitate to have Alara stay with Sammy again!! 5 ⭐️ for sure!!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vernon maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vernon walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vernon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
