Brooke and James did a great job of taking care of our senior kitty, Darian! They were pleasant during the meet and greet and helped make our first experience with Rover not as stressful. The cute daily updates were very much appreciated and brought a smile to our faces. We were able to enjoy our vacation without worrying about a thing at home. We would highly recommend Brooke and James to others.

Leah is fantastic! She went above and beyond to care for my cat while I was away. From the meet and greet, it was clear she had a natural rapport with animals and immediately put my mind at ease. My cat, who is usually very shy around new people, warmed up to her! Throughout the sitting, Leah provided regular updates with photos which was incredibly reassuring since this was my first time using Rover. She followed all my care instructions perfectly and even took extra steps to ensure my cat was happy and comfortable, such as engaging in playtime and giving her favourite treats. Leah also took great care of my home, keeping everything tidy. Leah is a reliable, compassionate, and professional cat sitter and I will definitely be booking with her again in the future!

Elizabeth and Joao were amazing. They sent us pictures and updates that made us feel at ease. Our dog needs activity and we felt like they took great care of her and gave her lots of walks. I know they did a good job, because our little scaredy cat came out of hiding. They were respectful and tidy in our home. Very trustworthy!

Absolutely satisfied with the care and attention Morgan paid our wonderful puppy Nova and to our home. Apparently we have some doggy depression over the fact that she left lol For a dog who normally doesn’t take to people quickly, this just shows what kind of person Morgan is. Highly recommend her for anyone’s dog and house sitting needs!

Kirsten took exceptional care of our two dogs while we were away, and I am so grateful we found her!!!!!! Our 10-year-old senior dachshund has significant anxiety and has only ever stayed with one trusted sitter since she was a puppy. Leaving her with someone new was a huge step for us. Not only did our senior girl eat all of her meals while we were away, but she was relaxed, comfortable, and even slept with Kirsten- something she has never done with anyone she didn't trust. Our seven-month-old rescue puppy is still learning all the basics, including leash walking and building confidence outside the home. Kirsten was patient and wonderful with her, and our puppy did great during her walks and daily training routine. The greatest compliment I can give is that I felt completely comfortable leaving our dogs in Kirsten's care. It was clear they felt safe, loved, and well cared for. We came home to happy, settled dogs, which means everything to us.They are my baby’s and I can’t remember a time I left and felt this way. Thank you, Kirsten, for taking such wonderful care of our girls. We would happily trust you with them again.

Lindsey was absolutely fantastic. I felt so at ease leaving Buddy (my 8 year old cocker spaniel) with her. She was super organised and her communication was excellent. She sent updates and pictures at the end of everyday and put Buddy’s needs first. Our home was super clean and tidy when we arrived home. I would 100% have Lindsey to sit Buddy in the future and would not hesitate to recommend her to take care of your pets and home.

Monica is beyond a 5 star. She is reliable and professional whilst having the most caring and loving demeanor with my golden retriever. She did everything we asked and much more. She kept track of my flight so when she saw it was delayed she stayed longer to make sure our golden was fed and had a bathroom break. Just a wonderful person all around.

I can’t say enough good things about Sarah’s calm, kind nature and how wonderful she was with our beloved pet cat Hannie. Hannie bonded with Sarah straight away and we felt very comfortable leaving Hannie with her. Not only was Sarah a wonderful pet sitter, she did odd jobs around the house as well. I would highly recommend Sarah to anyone as a house/pet splitter in their home.

Alara was great with house sitting and caring for my two senior cats, one of whom needs twice daily insulin injections. I came home to two very chill kitties, and a home that was kept very clean and in order. I really appreciated it and I would have no hesitation in booking Alara for the next time we go away and want to feel at ease with leaving our pets.

About: I've always had a deep care for animals, and have never met a pet that I didn't love (and that didn't love me)! I have lots of experience (unfortunately) with administering medications and caring for my own terminally ill rescue pets over the years. I am between jobs at the moment, so my schedule is wide open! I love to explore the valley, so I'm consistently between Westbank and Enderby scoping out new hiking spots. I will stay with your pet for as little or as much time as you'd like! I am a helicopter parent to my own pets, so I have no issue following whatever requests you have that might seem crazy to others.

About: I’ve prepared meals for dogs who have sensitive stomachs & dietary restrictions. After meeting with the dog I will individualize the dogs care plan to the what they need. I’m currently working full time however I’m available in the mornings, evenings & full time on the weekends. Will also come and check on the animal on my breaks. I will love on your pooch with everything I have. I am incredibly reliable, trustworthy, and flexible. I wish I could have a dog of my own, but due to frequent traveling, it’s sadly not the right time for me.

Alara was amazing with our dog Sammy! Sammy is a very anxious dog and Alara has a very calming demeanour and Sammy reacted very positively to her. She took him for walks every day and sent us many pictures. We were gone 10 days and I was concerned as we had never left him with someone he doesn’t know. I wouldn’t hesitate to have Alara stay with Sammy again!! 5 ⭐️ for sure!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Vernon

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Vernon on Rover is $53.39 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 269 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Vernon. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vernon maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vernon walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vernon choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
