“We had a perfect experience with Courtney! She came to stay with our dog and cat - she left two happy pets and it was like she was never in our house it was so clean. Our cat is less than friendly but Courtney didn't bat an eyelash. We really appreciate having someone we can count on and are looking forward to having her sit again.”

“Lori was incredible. Laidback, effective and ensured our pups were comfortable. She came to meet them and another time to make sure they knew her when she stayed in our home while we vacationed. She cleaned, staged our our home (we are selling) and entertained our pups during showings. She even left us some food for our homecoming! Communication excellent. Can't say enough. Wow!”

“Theo had a wonderful time with Daniel. It was very clear when I got back that he was well taken care of! Thank you again so much and I’ll be reaching out next time I go away!”

“We are so happy that Ross was available for us on short notice! He kept our pups company in a hotel while we attended an event. We got lots of updates and photos throughout the evening and overall we are very pleased with the service!”

“Michelle did a great job taking care of our senior pup for a week! She provided daily updates with photos and took great care of the house. She even offered to pop over to check on the pup when our flight was delayed. When we got home from the trip the dog was relaxed and not stressed.”

“Miranda was an amazing dog sitter and dog walker. She is always available at a moments notice if need be and treated Ernie like he was her own. She has been amazing and would 10/10 definitely recommend her services!”
“5 star plus for Kathleen. We have a selective/unique cockerspaniel who loved her. She provided daily pics and updates keeping us in the know, especially when we were missing him. She left the house in great condition and communicated efficiently with family that was helping out. Thank you, Kathleen. Look forward to booking you again for our next getaway.”

“Natalia did such an amazing job taking care of Winston, she sent lots of updates with pictures and was very prompt with responses. Came home to a very happy and tuckered out boy! She’s so sweet and professional, will most definitely have her as a sitter for Winston again in the future :)”

“Benjamin was amazing with our three dogs. They are not often left alone which caused a bit of nervousness (from them and also me!) Benjamin sent pictures during the evening and was always quick and professional when responding. Our most nervous dog was sitting on the couch with him shortly after we left! We definitely recommend Benjamin any time!”

“Loren was amazing while taking care of my VERY particular pup. Great communication and left my house clean. I will definitely use Loren's services again and recommend Loren.”
“Sara has provided cat sitting services to me twice now. Both times she was absolutely amazing. My cat Nala loves her company. Sara is reliable and great to work with. Last time I had booked her, one of my flights was delayed by a day, and she was flexible and kind enough to do additional visits with Nala until I was able to get back. She is my go to now!”
“Naomi did a house sitting for us and was great with our little dogs! We got pictures and updates daily. The house and pups were in great shape when we got home. Great communication. We’d feel very comfortable booking her again.”

“Gigi is the best!!! She was so kind and took amazing care of our sweet Molly (who is unique and has narcolepsy so we are always nervous leaving her). Excellent communication, and it is so clear she adores animals. Would definitely rebook in the future. 1000/10 reccomend”

“Jaiden did an excellent job with Bucky! She took him for long walks and kept him happy while we were gone. She was flexible when we needed to extend our stay due to the weather. We would definitely book her again!!”

“Pets (2 cats, 2 dogs) were all well cared for and Cleah got up to speed with all the ‘personality’ from each of the fur-babies. Got lots of check-ins and pics, which was appreciated. Any questions or issues were resolved with a quick text. Overall, very happy with our experience!”

“Michelle took such great care of my dogs while I was away. She kept me updated regularly with photos and messages, which gave me so much peace of mind. She made sure both of my dogs were well cared for, and she paid special attention to Coco, who has IVDD and requires a special diet. Knowing that she followed his routine so carefully meant the world to me. Thank you so much, Michelle, for treating my dogs with so much love and care. I truly appreciate everything you did, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book with you again. Highly recommended!”

About: The particular joy, learning opportunities, sense of fulfillment and gratitude that dogs bring to my life is unparalleled. Throughout my 15 years I learned a simple principle: the more time I spend taking care of doggos, the happier I am 🤓👍. I’ve had the privilege to care for dogs of all ages, with health conditions such as epilepsy and diabetes. Suffice to say— family, friends and neighbours deem myself as the reliable choice when it comes to pet care. My schedule is quite flexible and walking is a part of my day so I am ALWAYS willing to incorporate doggos into my routine 😃🙂 My building is very dog friendly! So much green space around, ideal for walking. Lots of cuddles and exercise guaranteed. I love to keep a list of dietary restrictions.
“Emily once again took great care of our feline friend over the weekend. Excellent communication, lots of photos, and super professional. Thanks again for giving us such peace of mind and providing our cat with terrific care!”

Clara was the perfect pet and house sitter! She was very friendly, reliable and a great communicator. She did a great job with our high energy 80lb dog and our three cats. Lots of photos were provided over the week and regular updates on how the pets were doing. Clara also accomodated a last minute change to add an extra day. Bonus that the house was tidy on our arrival home. Thanks again Clara. We highly recommend her for any pet or house sitting jobs!

Maggie gave us peace of mind while we were away for 9 nights. She was great with our two cane corsos and 4 cats. Not only did she take great care of them, the house was neat and tidy when we got home (she even washed and made the bed for us). We will definitely rebook with Maggie next time we go away.

You cannot put a value on how much it means to be able to leave your pet when you go on vacation and not have to worry. Our 14 year old German Shepherd absolutely adores Kate. We've booked them several times and really appreciate getting little updates several times a day with photos and check ins to let us know how Pippin is doing. ❤️

We had a great experience with this lovely couple. They stayed in our home and took wonderful care of Blue and Masha while we were away. They kept in touch and sent us updates every day, which we really appreciated. When we returned, the house was in pristine condition, everything had been very well taken care of, and most importantly, both animals were happy and relaxed. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and caring pet sitters, and we will definitely use them again.

Tamanna and Pramod did an excelent job! We love them, but most importantly, Murphy does too and he gets so excited now when he sees them. We booked Tamanna and Pramod for the third time in a row now. We changed the routine a few times around regarding food/ medicine and supplements for our boy, Murphy (due to some health issues) and we are so grateful that Murphy continued to have the same amount of care in Tamanna’s and Pramod watch. We could not be happier for their excellent care and could not recomand them enough!

If you're looking for a friendly, reliable, and trustworthy sitter to care for your beloved pets.. I highly recommend booking with Haley!! She has been so wonderful with my fur babies. I'm completely comfortable and confident to leave her in my home. Haley has accommodated my last minute requests on several occasions, she is always kind and easy to deal with. We are so very grateful to have found such a fantastic sitter ❤️

Gigi is the best!!! She was so kind and took amazing care of our sweet Molly (who is unique and has narcolepsy so we are always nervous leaving her). Excellent communication, and it is so clear she adores animals. Would definitely rebook in the future. 1000/10 reccomend

Signy was great with our reactive pooch. She made us feel very comfortable that we were leaving her in good hands while we went camping with little to no service. She kept my baby happy and healthy and was great dealing with her leash/dog reactivity. Would definitely use her again.

Ben was exceptional! We have a full house with 3 cats and a large dog that are new to living with each other but Ben took great care of everyone and made sure these anxious mamas were updated on the babies, despite us having limited service on our trip. When we returned, the house was tidy, he'd done his own laundry and our fur kids were all very happy and well cared for. Definitely will be booking him again when we need care!

Lyne was amazing! She took great care of our dog and cats while we were away. We got lots of updates with pictures. When we came back, the house looked the exact same as we left it! This was our first time leaving our fur babies home on vacation and we very much appreciate the care she gave them and reassurance she gave us. We would definitely book her again!!

Jenna did an excellent job of caring for our girl. When you meet her you can immediately tell how much she loves dogs and understands dog behaviour and their individual quirks. Emmy liked her right away and I felt confident that she would do a great job. She sent pics and videos to keep us updated while we were away. I highly recommend Jenna if you are looking for a pet/houses interested!

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dartmouth maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dartmouth walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dartmouth choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 75% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
