“My dog is so shy around strangers, but Kathy really knew how to treat her. I didn't worry and was able to enjoy our get-away. I've already booked another stay with Kathy.”

“Such an amazing person! Our fur baby was in amazing hands! She updated us and wasn’t annoyed when I texted her all day! We will definitely be using her again! Thank you Hannah!”

“Left my pups (and houseplants) with Jenny while I was gone on vacation over the Christmas holidays. She was great, and the pups were pooped when I brought them home! I happened to have a vet appointment for Max that I'd scheduled a couple of days after my vacation. Both dogs had lost a few pounds, yeah! And Max's back right knee was doing very well, no swelling, heat or favoring. Jenny and her family did a great job with keeping an eye on him and keeping him from overdoing it. They were also very understanding when I managed to screw up my pickup date. I'd inadvertently written down my return flight on the day before it was actually scheduled, so I'd scheduled their pickup time for the next day, just about at the time when my flight was supposed to depart. And of course, the flight was delayed about two and a half hours. Luckily, I was able to pick them up about 5 hours after the designated pickup time. I will definitely be looking to her for boarding again in the future!”
“Gary and Carol are so predictably wonderful. Waldo always bounces up the steps in excitement when we drop him off. Gary and Carol have always been easy to communicate with and roll with the bunches when needed! They’re the best!”

“I’m glad we chose Shane to watch our dog on 4th of July. He is a nervous boy around fireworks and gets scared. He seemed comfortable right on drop off and excited to play with another dog. He was tired when he got back home from all the play- and that’s a good thing. Would definitely book again.”

“Kristi is one of the kindest thoughtful sitters I’ve found. She’s responsive and takes such good care of my dog that he doesn’t want to come home. I highly recommend her to anyone. She’s simply the best.”

“Our pup had a wonderful stay! Lajetta sent tons of pictures of our dog while we were away and was super responsive to texts. We will definitely try and book her again in the future!”

“I had to have surgery and needed someone to watch my boy for a month. Maryorie was FANTASTIC! It was such a relief to know he was taken care of and gave me the grace to be able to focus on healing instead of worrying. I HIGHLY recommend her and will definitely use her again.”

“Haleigh is always great with our Shihtzu Aika! She sends plenty of updates and we can see from the pictures that Aika is always having a great time with her family! Thank you for adapting to our last minute change, when our flight got canceled and we were only able to arrive later in the evening to pick-up Aika!”

“Hailey and her family were so friendly, kind, and easy to work with. We met ahead of time to make sure it was a good fit, and Hailey was so thorough and asked great questions, which gave me a lot of confidence in leaving Willow with them. Willow had the best time while we were away. We will definitely book with Hailey again the next time we need a sitter.”

“Paul and Arnel treated our little old man like a king, and sent the photos to back it up. We were able to fully enjoy our vacation knowing the pup was WELL taken care of. Five stars, highly recommend. Thank you guys!!”

“David took very good care of Cooper and Chandler. He was very understanding of both their behaviors. It is very difficult to find someone who cared, observed and communicated as clearly and frequently as David did. 5 out of 5 we would recommend him to any of our friends in the area.”
“Annika, John, and Pepper were great with our pup Lemon. She’s very shy and takes a little bit to warm up, but she was cuddling with them in no time. They were very communicative and sent us updates so we were never worried. And Pepper is a perfect, well behaved playmate. :)”

“So glad that I found Kristen! She has a great set up for both overnight and short term stays. Her back is lovely and very secure. My Archie loved rolling and running in the green grass and playing with the other dogs. Although Archie gets along with all sizes of dogs, its nice that Kristen only takes small dogs; which puts everyone on the same level when rough-housing. Kristen truly loves dogs. Its so nice to leave Archie with someone I can trust”

“Kristopher was so wonderful with Maya! He has such a calm and gentle demeanor that helped Maya feel at ease when getting introduced to the other pets. He was also very communicative and accommodating during her stay. Highly recommend!”

“I am so happy with the care my girl received from Dana and Mark! The updates on her while we were gone were wonderful. I appreciated how they allowed her to meet the other dogs slowly so she didn’t get overwhelmed. She looked happy the whole time. Thank you!!”

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beyond Grateful — Truly Exceptional Dog Sitters It is difficult to put into words how grateful our family is to these two wonderful human beings, Carley and Eileen for the extraordinary care they gave our dog during our 11-day family vacation to New York. From the very beginning, we could tell that they genuinely love dogs. When my husband and our two sons first brought our dog to meet them, he was nervous and unsure of his new surroundings. He became so anxious that he had an accident and pooped right in the middle of their living room—something he had never, ever done before. I was so touched when I heard how kindly they reacted. They didn't make it uncomfortable or treat it as a big problem at all. Their response was simply patient, understanding, and compassionate. That first moment told us so much about the kind of people they are. Leaving a beloved dog behind while traveling across the country can be difficult, but from the very next day, they began sending us pictures every single day. Those pictures became such a wonderful part of our New York vacation because we could actually see that he was happy, comfortable, safe, and loved. And he wasn't simply staying at their house—he was having his own vacation! ❤️🐾 They took him for car rides and even for an ice-cream treat. We received pictures of him enjoying the park, relaxing in their yard, sunbathing, playing, and simply enjoying life. They also welcomed him around their own dogs and gave him the opportunity to develop a beautiful bond with them. By the end of his stay, it was obvious that they had genuinely fallen in love with him—and that he had become comfortable and attached to them as well. What touched us most was realizing that none of this felt like simply a job to them. Their kindness toward animals is sincere. They are professional, patient, responsible, compassionate, and truly loving dog people. When we returned from New York and picked him up, they saw how excited and deeply connected he was to us. Coming from people with so much experience caring for dogs, hearing them tell us that they had rarely seen such a strong bond between a dog and his owners touched our hearts beyond words. But we also saw something else during those 11 days: he had formed a bond with them, too. That is perhaps the greatest compliment we can give them. To anyone considering leaving their beloved dog in their care: you can have peace of mind. Go on your trip, enjoy your time with your family, and know that your dog is with people who will not merely feed and watch him, but will notice him, understand him, include him, comfort him, and genuinely care about his happiness. Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts for giving our dog such a safe, happy, loving home while we were away. Thank you for every picture, every outing, every treat, every moment of patience, and especially for the love you gave him. We trusted you with a very precious member of our family, and you treated him like a member of yours. We could not have asked for anything more. We recommend these two wonderful ladies without hesitation and with our deepest gratitude. Five stars do not feel like enough. ❤️🐶🐾

This was the first time I had needed to board my puppy. Due to late booking, we weren't able to conduct a meet and greet first. However, I left knowing she would be well taken care of which put my mind at ease. Emily sent daily photos and updates during my pups stay. I have already booked her next stay. I highly recommend Emily and Eric.

We had a great experience with Kathlene & her family! We really appreciated how attentive they were to the details of our dog’s care plan during her stay with them. They were very communicative and sent us lots of updates and pictures, which made us feel very at ease with her being away from home. We would definitely board our dog with them again!

Deanna is wonderful. She took care of both our older cats for almost a month while we were on honeymoon and moving into a new home, and patiently took care of our oldest kitty when she became ill. The cats seemed to really love her, and when we both came down with flu she let us extend the cat's stay. Highly recommend her and will use her again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in WA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
