“First time using Rover and Lee for house/dog sitting for a weekend. My dogs were happy and not exhausted from stress (like when they’d come back from the kennel). Both are a seniors- 14 and 13- and one takes a little more attention. Lee left the house better than I left it even (was in a hurry). Would always let me know when he was leaving to go take care of other dogs and when he came back. Will definitely be using in the future!”

“This was my first time using Rover and Sarah was an amazing pet/house sitter! She was very attentive to detail and did a great job keeping my cat's routine. She also provided thorough updates that gave me peace of mind knowing my cat was in the best care while away. Sarah truly went above and beyond in every way! I absolutely recommend her and would book with Sarah again in the future!”

“Mikayla took fantastic care of our babies and our home while we were away for the week. We could tell she really takes pride in what she does and how she does it. Our Pups really like Mikayla and even wanted to follow her home when we returned. Our house was exactly as we left it a week earlier. Great job! 🐾”

“Our second time booking with Chris and we will continue to book with him! He’s so attentive and thoughtful when it comes to watching the fur babies! There are no worries when Chris is around!”

“Bella was wonderful! She swooped in to save the day at the last minute and took great care of my furbaby and my home while I was out of town for a few days. Will definitely be reaching out to her in the future.”

“Jessie was amazing. She took such great care of all 3 of our dogs and sent updates/pictures every time she went over to care for our dogs. We will absolutely be using her again!”
“If they had 10 stars, I'd give Grace that! She was the BEST house & pet sitter ever!! The pups loved her, and she clearly knew how to handle my Goldens... especially my rowdy younger one. She took care of absolutely everything on our very long list of "to dos", so that when we came home it felt like we were coming into a brand new house. She texted me daily with updates and photos, and on her last day even explained that she likes to "leave places better than [she] found them or with no trace"! So true!! We will definitely use her again the next time we go out of town. She was absolutely perfect!”

“I would give Julie more than 5 stars if that was possible. This was my first time using Rover and my experience could not have been better. Julie made me feel comfortable letting a stranger (feels like a friend already) into my home, she sent photos and updates, and left the sweetest card and gift for when I got back home. MY ONLY REGRET was not fining Julie sooner! Book her and you won’t regret it. I now found my go to person for all dog watching needs.”

“Ted was absolutely awesome! We always feel so comfortable leaving Waylon at home when we are out of town because we know Ted has him in the best of care! He is super responsive and always sends pictures each day of the adventures that they had. We are so thankful to have him!”

“I just moved to South Carolina a month ago and had to be away a couple of days this past weekend. I was quite anxious having to find someone to stay in my home and take care of my sweet, Nala. She is older, is a rescue, is a large dog, and the move was alot for her. I arranged a meet with Jerry and I was at ease right away; more importantly, Nala was at ease right away. I think dogs sense immediately if a person is a good fit or not. The day I had to leave, Jerry showed up on time (a bit early, actually, which I truly appreciated) and Nala was very excited to see him. Jerry sent many pictures and texts about how things were going over the two days, let me know when he had to leave for awhile and communicated when he was back. Nala needs alot of love and Jerry was attentive and very willing to give affection to her. The stay could not have gone better. Jerry was also very respective of my home and took good care of everything while I was gone. I highly recommend Jerry and am grateful I found him on Rover.”

“Daniela was amazing to have stay in our home and care for our 4 fur-babies while we were away. She was attentive, communicative, and demonstrated great compassion for our animals. I would absolutely recommend Daniela for your pet/house-sitting needs!”

“Zia was the perfect sitter for my pup! I will be using her on a regular basis as I work out of town a lot. She left my home cleaner than when I left, she gave me regular updates and pictures and my pup absolutely adored her! 5+ stars!”

“Crystal was great! She followed all instructions and provided updates and pictures of our 3 fur babies regularly. It’s nice to be able to relax on vacation knowing your pets are being cared for by a professional.”

“Christine was very conscientious and kind when caring for our 8 yr old pup. She sent photos every day and always responded to my text messages. I felt that she took her responsibility seriously and spent quality time with our dog. Our house was very tidy when we returned from being away. All in all, a positive experience!”

“Our 4 year old goldendoodle , Rosey, has NEVER been left alone. We had to fly to NYC to visit our grandson and left Rosey in Mia’s hands. Rosey adopted Mia IMMEDIATELY. Mia was fantastic. By the time we got back home Mia was Rosey’s best friend! Mia was fantastic and will be Rosey’s ONLY caregiver”

“Jasmine was a delight to work with. She is responsible, reliable, and intentional in everything she does. I especially appreciated that she asked thoughtful questions to make sure everything was in order before I left. She arrived early and took amazing care of my dog, Tucker. Each day, she sent me a special photo from their walks or playtime, which gave me great peace of mind. She also did a wonderful job caring for my chickens and watering my plants When I returned home, everything was spotless and in perfect order. I highly recommend Jasmine and would gladly trust her with my home and pets again!”

“Carissa was excellent, made sure she met us as well As the dogs prior to her staying here with them . Professional , our dogs were well adjusted to her , she made sure their routine was not disrupted and we are very pleased ! To be honest we were skeptical about using ROVER but now - there will be no other way ! Great experience , Carissa left the home clean , our dogs were so content ….THANKS ROVER and Carissa .”

We needed an all day sitter last minute. Miriam was so sweet and came over the meet the dogs ahead of time. And then the day of, she picked them up and brought them home. We had a wedding that day and couldn't be home. It worked out great! I can't wait to utilize Miriam again. :) I highly recommend!!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Bells Crossroads walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Bells Crossroads maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Bells Crossroads choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
