“Rachel took great care of my four pets for six days and did a wonderful job. She was communicative throughout the stay, sent updates, and made sure everyone was happy and well cared for. I felt comfortable knowing my pets were in good hands while I was away. I’d happily book with her again.”

“Phenomenal. Rachel was an absolute blessing when all my regulars were unavailable. She was great with the dogs - including a very high energy puppy. She kept me updated regularly and was so accommodating as my plans changed last minute. It’s always a little weird to welcome a stranger into your home, but meeting Rachel the pre-visit, I knew immediately she was a kind and trustworthy person with a true love for animals.”

“If I could give over 5 stars.. I would! Cannot recommend Tana and Eduardo enough. They cared for both our dogs for over two weeks and did such a phenomenal job caring for them and all their quirks! Tana communicated with me daily - sending pictures and updates. We were able to travel comfortably knowing our dogs were in the best of hands!”

“After meeting Zach we knew that he was the one who we wanted to watch our home. You could really tell he takes what he does seriously. It was so amazing to leave town and know that our home and pets were being taken care of.”

About: Our dog passed away and I miss her very much. Recently relocated to Alaska and loving it! Have extra time on my hands to care for your furry bundle. I’ll take care of her/him/them like my own. Sorry I can’t commit to a reoccurring schedule at this time. Currently between jobs (indefinitely!) so I have plenty of time until then to give your loved ones attention. I love being outdoors so plenty of fresh air is not an issue or playing inside and curling up on sofa with your fluff ball is cool too. No problem if your pet prefers their own space, I am open to all types of personalities. Happy to care for pets in your home according to your normal routine. I am currently renting so care in my home is not an option. Thanks for understanding.
“Nancy did a great job watching our house and our sweet Lottie. We were totally comfortable being gone for almost 2 weeks with Nancy taking care of everything. We will be using her again when we travel.”

“We loved having Kerry house sit for our dogs. She is very good with them and we can tell our old ladies were well taken care of. She is observant and communicates well.”

“Natalie was so great with our dog and kitties! My dog is very shy and takes a lot of warming up to new people, but Natalie got him playing and made sure he was happy and taken cared of. I definitely recommend her for watching after your fur babies!”

“Bradley did a fantastic job house and petting sitting my 2 dogs and 5 chickens. He was a good communicator and followed instructions perfectly. I highly recommend him to anyone needing a pet sitter.”

“Hawk was terrific with our two big goofy dogs. Great communication while we were away, and we came home to happy, tired dogs. We’ll definitely look to rebook Hawk the next time we need a sitter.”

“Kara was amazing once again! Second time booking with her and she made me feel so comfortable leaving my babies for a 4 day trip. Daily updates and photos, so communicative and responsive, beyond respectful of our home and belongings. Seriously love love love her and hope to use her for as long as she offers her services. Thank you Kara for taking the anxiety out of our trip and loving our babies.”

“Erica cared for our little guy Milo who requires someone who has a lot of patience and understanding and at this particular time would be needing additional attention to post manage a recent recovery from where Milo was treated for severe back pain from compressed discs-which gave us reservation about leaving him for 2weeks… but upon meeting Erica and shortly after leaving AK -it was no time at all that we were 100% rest assured that Milo was in good and caring hands. Erica stayed in our home to care for Milo and was so very helpful and considerate. ( not to mention this was during the holidays) Erica was excellent in caring for Milo and was so very thoughtful in sending us photos and updates. She is responsible, caring, a great communicator and would highly recommend her. We would most definitely seek her care and assistance/ availability for future care. Can’t thank you enough Erica!!”

“Maggie was an amazing find! She sent daily updates and photos and our dogs absolutely loved her. I will absolutely use her again in the future for our dogs and she gave us such a peace of mind that both Teddy and Sadie were happy and well cared for!”

“Jazmine did great with my two dogs! I was in an area with spotty cell service all week and felt very comforted knowing Jazmine was caring for my dogs! She even had little report cards for them when I returned. It was so sweet!”

“Sarah did a great job of taking care of my pup and house. The pup was happy and heathy at the end of Sarah’s stay and the house was very tidy. I’d highly recommend Sarah to anyone needing a sitter!”

About: I have owned and cared for dogs since I was a little girl . Currently I have a two very spoiled furbabies that are my life. We like to stay active by going for walks and outings to the dog park. I love dogs and feel comfortable handling all sizes/breeds. The last two years I’ve spent at a doggie daycare/boarding facility as a handler dealing with all shapes, sizes, breeds and even reactive dogs. I enjoy being active with dogs and providing them with activities so they don't get bored/destructive. I love going to parks, playing fetch, and going on long walks. Let me know what your dog's favorite activity is and I'll do my best to accommodate! I look forward to meeting you should you decide I’m a good match for you and your fur babies! I currently only work part time, on weekend nights, so would have plenty of time to be with your pet(s)! My schedule is very open I prefer watching dogs in their own home but have some flexibility at my house to possibly watch a dog there. My two dogs go with me as well, if able.
“Paulyne did a great job watching my dog for a week of house sitting. I came home to a clean house, happy dog and she sent daily pictures to put my mind at ease. I’d recommend booking her!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Anchorage
Natalie is a wonderful dog sitter, and we hope she will always be available when we need someone to watch our pets! She sent several daily updates with photos and videos during our two night trip. My young dog and my daughter 's senior dog both took to her immediately and were clearly well cared for. She was also flexible and accommodating of our schedule. A-plus!!

Bridget was fantastic! She took great care of our two dogs while we were away and gave us real peace of mind during our vacation. She was communicative, reliable, and clearly cared about our pups. We came home to two happy, well-cared-for dogs, and we wouldn't hesitate to book with her again. Highly recommend!

She was great! I got pictures and video updates of my two dogs nearly every day. They were well cared for and happy when I got home. She also left me a clean house which is a nice bonus! She was a real life-saver as she took the job at super short notice because my scheduled house sitter canceled on me with only six days notice! So glad she took the job as my boys seem really happy :)

Jes and her husband were the best first Rover experience we could have asked for! Great to communicate with, took excellent care of our dog, Leeloo, and left our home spotlessly clean. We wouldn't hesitate to book again, all of our anxieties were immediately put at ease and everything went great!

Maia has been great! We've had her sit for us several times now and she has done great managing our chaotic 4 pet household while we've been out of town. Unfortunately we're moving out of the area and we're really going to miss having her as a sitter but I highly recommend her to anyone looking!

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 372 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Anchorage. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Anchorage walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Anchorage maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Anchorage choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Anchorage. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
