“Rachel Rachel was absolutely wonderful with Nilo. This was our first time using her services after our regular sitter had an unexpected emergency, and she was kind enough to meet with us right away. Nilo can be a little challenging at times, so I made sure to explain his personality, behaviors, and needs. Rachel was incredibly patient, understanding, and caring from the very beginning. She took the time to make Nilo feel comfortable, took him on several walks, and it was clear that he felt safe and relaxed in her home. It means so much to find someone who genuinely cares for your pet, and Rachel did exactly that. We felt at ease knowing Nilo was in such good hands. We are so grateful for her help and would not hesitate to book with her again. Thank you, Rachel, for taking such great care of our Nilo! ❤️ We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter.”

“Troy was an absolute godsend. We had a last minute 5 day trip come up and I was nervous handing off our Newfoundland to someone new, especially on short notice, but Troy put me at ease from the first message. He asked all the right questions upfront, was flexible with our chaotic schedule, and clearly knows how to handle a big, gentle giant breed. He sent photos and updates without me even having to ask, and I could tell our dog was genuinely comfortable and happy with him the whole time. We came home to a relaxed, well loved pup and zero stress on our end. Troy is reliable, communicative, and just a genuinely good person to trust with your dog. Can’t recommend him enough, we’ll absolutely be booking him again.”

“My dog had a wonderful time with Joanne + family! He immediately made himself at home when I dropped him off and looked like he had the best time in all the photos and videos I received. I’m always nervous leaving him with anyone who isn’t family, but I had the peace of mind that he was well taken care of and having fun while I was out of town.”

“Judy was incredible! Auggie and Judy hit it off at first sight. She stayed in touch with me with pictures and texts. Auggie loved Judy’s house so much that he was reluctant to get in the car when it was tjme to say goodbye. Judy is a gem!!”

My experience includes puppy socialization and specialized senior dog care, ensuring every dog in my charge receives the individual attention and expert care they deserve, making their time with me feel just like your home. We were a little nervous leaving her, since its her first time with you after so long but seeing how happy, calm and well-adjusted she was with you had put our hearts completely at ease. Troy did a great job watching our two Weimaraners, Remi and Ruger. They can definitely be a handful at times, so finding someone we feel comfortable leaving them with is really important to us. Troy took great care of them and we felt completely comfortable knowing they were in good hands while we were away. Both dogs were happy and well taken care of when we got back. We had a great experience with Troy and would definitely use him again. Highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone reliable and trustworthy to take care of their dogs. Thanks again, Troy!

Genarina Z. Is a very caring person towards the cats that she takes care of, she keeps you up to date on your pet’s daily happenings and is very attentive towards them, we are extremely happy that we came across her on rover, she will definitely be our go to person to take care of our little one. We strongly recommend Genarina in taking care of any of your little furry little ones.

Charlotte was absolutely amazing with our girl Lexi!! Not only did she make us feel so relieved and secure the entirety of our trip, but Lexi eventually opened up to her which is something so huge for her. We were very very anxious about trying a sitter again considering Lexi had a terrible experience with a past sitter, which has caused mistrust towards strangers. It took some time and warming up to do but eventually Lexi caved in! Charlotte sent so many pictures and updates throughout the day which we absolutely loved. She is very sweet, patient, understanding with Lexi’s situation, and just overall an awesome sitter. Lexi will definitely be coming back!!

Trevor and Sabrina did an absolutely amazing job with my dog, Clyde. I received photos, communication was seamless, and due to my travels being delayed was able to have my dog spend some extra time there with no hesitation. Overall the experience was amazing and will definitely be returning to them in the future.

Diego was fantastic…. From the meet and greet, to the booking, the drop off , the stay and pick up.. Diego made everything easy. He is great with Cali and communicated everyday with a quick check in. Cali had a great stay with Diego and I was completely relaxed on vacation knowing my Cali was with someone loving and caring with animals.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
