“Heidi and her son were absolutely wonderful pet sitters! Our dogs loved them, got lots of cuddles and Heidi was great about sending pictures. We would recommend them to anyone looking for sitters! Thank you Heidi for caring for our boys and home.”

“Stephany did a great job watching our dog, Laila, while we traveled home for the holidays. We just moved here so it was important to us to have someone stay with her while she was still adjusting to the new apartment. Stephany was very responsive, flexible, and communicative when caring for Laila. Stephany followed our care instructions and sent us plenty of updates and photos throughout her sitting. It was just what we needed to so we wouldn’t have to worry and we could enjoy our time with our family!”

“Heidi was amazing! My dog is scared of most people, and she was so patient with her. She won my dog over and in no time and they were snuggling and the best of friends. I knew she was in good hands. I’ll be calling Heidi again for any future needs”

“Would definitely reccomend Raymond. I was very nervous about leaving my two large labradoodles and special needs cat with someone new. Raymond came out to meet all the animals on his own time prior to watching them. While we were gone, he sent frequent updates which was very much appreciated. We will definitely use him again if we are going out of town :)”

“A top tier sitter. We’ve used her for two long trips now and each time she has went above and beyond with our dogs! We will continue to use her for any trip she is available for!!”

“Jaxon was an outstanding house/pet sitter. He followed instructions exactly and I think the dogs miss him. He left the house clean and tidy and we will definitely be using his services again in the future.”

“Corey was absolutely amazing while we were away on vacation! She took such great care of Brutus, our sweet old bulldog, and Pepper, our cat, and gave us complete peace of mind the entire time. It was so clear our pets were happy, comfortable, and well loved in her care. She kept the house tidy and organized, and we really appreciated all of the photo updates she sent throughout the trip. Seeing Brutus and Pepper relaxed and cared for made it so much easier to enjoy our vacation without worrying. Corey is reliable, thoughtful, communicative, and genuinely caring with animals. We came home to happy pets and a clean home, which says everything. We would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and compassionate pet sitter!”

“Tiffany was amazing! She stopped by every other day and hung out with my cat for 30 min! She let him out, gave him water and checked on my house! I will definitely be using her for future sitting needs.”
“Thomas was fantastic with our two German Shepherds. He stayed overnight with them for 8 days and walked them as well. They are dog aggressive on walks and he handled them with no problems. He also gave them medication. He followed all the house rules and kept our place looking great! We will definitely be going with Thomas again in the future. His communication was also fantastic! Overall we were so pleased to have Thomas stay with our boys!”

“Jacqueline has done a great job with overnight stays watching 2 dogs and 2 cats! The animals are comfortable with her and she takes great care of them! Definitely recommend using her for your needs!”

“Madison house/dog sat for us while we were out on vacation. She did a wonderful job keeping us updated and left the house in perfect shape. We will definitely be booking her again for our sitting needs in the future!”

About: I've been caring for dogs since I was a child. In my adult years I've learned all the nuance and niche dog care that is needed for specific breeds or conditions. I love dogs, learning about dogs and meeting new dogs. I work full-time(8am to 5pm Monday through Friday)at Colorado's biggest hospital so my availability is limited to evenings and weekends for now. Currently not available for mornings but I am working on opening that timeframe up I live in a townhouse so I have to potty my dog every 4 to 5 hours. Food is not allowed outside of the kitchen, and we regularly ensure the house is dog proofed aka baby proof. Any instructions for caring the dog would be reviewed w/ the owner and ask any questions I may have pertaining to care of dog(s).
“Nikole was great! She was communicative, on-time, and very professional. She handled our odd-combo dogs really well (rambunctious husky and old snuggly chihuahua), and the house was in great shape upon return. We received daily updates of the dogs with pictures and how they were doing. Our dogs seemed happy when we got back (which is important to me)!”

“Josie was very kind and respectful of my house. I barely could tell She was even here. She was very responsive and sent me pictures and videos daily while I was gone. My dog seemed happy, we’ll use her again!”

“Yet again, Kristina was great! She was super responsive, very considerate, and left the place looking just as we left it. She sent lots of pictures and updates, so we knew our pup was having a great time! She also left a hilarious pet report card and extra treats when she left. Will definitely be booking with her for all of our dog sitting/walking needs!”

“Noa is fantastic!!!! We all love her. So great with our animals (1 dog and 1 cat), our home, and very sweet to our daughter too. Great communication and wonderful personality to boot.”

“Morgan was amazing - daily updates and pictures - arrived to a clean home - and most importantly, my dog was happy and well exercised when I got home! I will definitely use Morgan again! She even sent me pictures of my flowers that bloomed while I was away!”

Daniella did an amazing job watching our three dogs in our home for a week! She kept us updated with photos and messages, and it was clear our dogs were well cared for and comfortable. We came home to happy dogs and a clean house. We would definitely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!

Caitlyn was absolutely fantastic with our two Golden Retrievers! She kept us updated with messages and photos, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. One of our Goldens ended up needing some unexpected, last-minute special care, and Caitlyn handled everything without hesitation. She was attentive, compassionate, and communicated with us every step of the way, making what could have been a stressful situation much easier. We came home to two happy, well-cared-for pups, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We highly recommend Caitlyn to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and dependable dog sitter. We’ll definitely be booking with her again!

Sarah is amazing! She takes such good care of all our pets, big and small. She keeps our house just like we're there. She communicates frequently and keeps us appraised of all the happenings. We love her, our pets love her, and we are so happy to have found her!

Shelia is always absolutely wonderful to have watch the pets and house sit. She takes such great care of Rosie and Murphy, they absolutely love all the attention she gives them. It is so nice knowing someone is caring for them so well at home and we don’t have to send them somewhere out of their comfort zone to be boarded. We feel so lucky to have found Shelia!!

Garrett watched my dog, Cooper, on short notice as I headed out of town for an extended weekend. He showed up to the meet and greet that I had to schedule only mere hours before catching my flight, got along well with Coop, and took great care of him throughout the stay. I received pictures and updates at a regular cadence, and Cooper was acting his happy self upon my return. He enjoyed his time spent with Garrett! My home was also left in great shape! I would definitely have Garrett sit in my space with Cooper again.

Candice was absolutely amazing! I was very nervous about using Rover again after a bad experience and she completely changed it for me. She treated my dogs as though they were her own and sent plenty of pictures and videos which I always love to get when I am away. I already decided to rebook with her for another weekend, so I highly recommend her to anyone that needs a dog sitter.

We are so grateful for Kate’s love and attention with our house and dogs! Kate was patient and kind to them, gave them extra walks and consistently gave them enrichment treats, and sent tons of pictures and detailed updates. And somehow Kate left our home even cleaner than we did after the stay. We would definitely work with Kate again!

Jordyn is maybe the best house/dog/cat sitter we have had. She was very communicative with us before the visit and during the stay. She showed our cats and dog the utmost care and love and was helpful in managing our cat who was having a little anxiety about being separated. I would absolutely book with her again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for the best care.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Altura on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 8,231 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Altura. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Altura walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Altura maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Altura choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Altura. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
