About: I’ve grown up taking care of both cats and dogs, including small and large breeds. I currently have a chocolate lab who I walk, feed, and play with every day. I also have experience caring for senior dogs and cats, and I understand the extra patience, attention, and care they may need. I love cats and am comfortable feeding them, changing litter, playing with them, and giving them lots of attention. I’m reliable, caring, and truly enjoy being around animals! I’m home from college until August 10th. I’m available all day on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 8 AM–3PM for dog walking, pet sitting, and drop-in visits for both cats and dogs! I’m also available on weekends and am flexible with timing. I’m happy to work around your pet’s normal routine to make sure they feel comfortable, cared for, and safe. I’m always mindful, respectful, and responsible when caring for pets in someone else’s home. I make sure to keep a clean and safe environment, follow instructions carefully, and handle everything with care. I understand how important trust is when someone is caring for your pets and home, and I’ll always do my best to make both you and your pets feel comfortable and secure.
“Dorothy was outstanding coming to our house to feed and let out our 2 dogs. She was great with the dogs, responds quickly to questions and sent many photos while we traveled out of state for a wedding. We trusted her and did not worry about our dogs. I would highly recommend her services.”

“Madeline is an outstanding cat sitter! She took such great care of my two cats and followed all of my instructions perfectly. She was always punctual and made sure they had their wet food, refilled their dry food and water, played with them, and kept everything clean—including the litter box. She even vacuumed the floor since my dad has allergies, which I truly appreciated. I’m so glad I found her here—she’s easily the best pet sitter you could ask for. I highly recommend booking her right away. She’s absolutely wonderful!”

About: I’ve been around animals my entire life, and over the years I’ve turned that love into hands-on experience working in both boarding facilities and pet retail. Always looking for a reason to be around more adorable fur faces! I have both a cat and a dog and make sure they’re fully prioritized after I get home from work because they’re the best friends anyone could ask for! I care for pets based on their routine and personality, keeping things consistent and stress-free while you’re away. In your home, I follow feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and keep spaces clean (like litter boxes and water). I’m attentive to behavior and provide regular updates with photos.

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs for the last 7-8 years for my family, friends, and neighbors. They have trusted me with walking, feeding, and overall loving their furry friends! When my family first got our dog in 2020, I assisted in training him and learning how to take care of a puppy. I have also helped to take care of my roommates pet dog and cat in these last few months as well! During the summer of 2024, my dog suddenly went paralyzed and lost function of his back legs. We had to learn how to take care of him and walk him using unconventional ways, while teaching him how to learn to walk again, so I have experience with a dog who has been partially disabled (but he has regained his ability to walk and is doing great!!) I recently graduated from Miami University, Ohio with my masters degree in speech-language pathology. I just moved back to Illinois and am looking to do some dog walking and pet care/love this summer before starting a new job in the schools this upcoming August as a speech-language pathologist. I will adhere to any requests that the client has. I am willing to put them in their crates, give them treats, play with them in the yard, or go for a nice long walk with them. It really comes down to the clients preference and I will stick to their normal routine!!
“Janet, from the time we met you we felt comfort with you taking care of our baby girl Nala! You gave timely and detailed updates and loved the pics you included. We will definitely be contacting you again when we need a trustworthy and caring dog sitter!”

“Jennifer did so great with our floofs! She took the time to get to know them and took pictures of the cuddles she got from them, which meant they were super comfortable with her!”

About: I started and successfully managed my own dog walking business at the age of 15, serving clients throughout my local neighborhood. Over time, I built a loyal client base of more than 20 regular customers and provided a range of services, including dog walking, drop-in visits, and occasional bathing. This experience helped me develop strong time management skills, reliability, and a deep understanding of pet care. I currently have full availability and am eager to meet new dogs while continuing to provide dependable, high-quality care. As a welcome offer, new clients will receive $20 off their first booking with me. I am also happy to assist with basic dog training upon request, reinforcing positive behaviors during visits. While I do not have a yard available, I focus on providing attentive, active care through structured walks and drop-in visits to ensure each dog receives proper exercise, stimulation, and attention. In addition to dogs, I have hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of reptiles and exotic pets. I understand their unique environmental needs, including maintaining proper temperature gradients, humidity levels, and lighting. I have worked with species such as snakes, lizards, and other small exotics, ensuring their enclosures are clean, safe, and enriching. I am also knowledgeable about specialized diets, including live feeding, supplementation, and species-specific nutrition. I carefully monitor animal behavior and can recognize early signs of stress or illness. My approach emphasizes patience, consistency, and minimizing stress during handling and daily care routines. I am comfortable following detailed instructions and adapting to each pet’s individual personality and needs. Overall, I am committed to providing attentive, responsible, and knowledgeable care for all animals. I currently have unlimited availability and am here to meet all the new pups and help deliver exceptional service and dog training services if requested by owner. Upon arrival at a client’s home, if a backyard is available, I conduct a thorough perimeter check to ensure there are no gaps in the fence and that all gates are securely closed before allowing dogs outside. I follow each pet’s established feeding schedule and ensure fresh water is provided and replenished regularly. For overnight stays, I provide attentive in-home care to maintain your pet’s routine and comfort. If a walk requested during the booking exceeds 15 minutes an additional booking fee will apply for walks ranging from 30 to 60 minutes. If your pet requires medication, please inform me in advance so I can ensure it is administered safely and according to your instructions.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Algonquin
Jessica did an amazing job being a first time sitter for my 2 cats one of which is very shy. She sent photos and updates each day after drop in visits which made me feel so at ease while on vacation. She went above and beyond caring for my house, bringing in the mail and watering 2 flower pots. I will absolutely hire Jessica again! I wish I could give her more than 5 stars! She treated my pets as her own.

Samantha was wonderful. She went above and beyond. She stayed in constant communication with me. Sent me silly and lovely pictures of my babies. Dealt with a last minute booking on my part. I could not ask of a better person to watch my girls (3 cats) I trusted her completely.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Algonquin. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
