“I HIGHLY recommend David. He is thorough, thoughtful, and follows instructions well. He is clean and respectful and my puppy loves him. We will be using David every day.”

“Elena was awesome!! She took such great care of Neko and I felt so comfortable know she was dropping in on him. She was very responsive to my messages and kept me updated with pics and reports on how he was doing. I would absolutely recommend her to everyone without hesitation 😊”

About: I've had the pleasure of raising 2 amazing dogs over the last 20+ years. Both required special care in their elder years. Friends and family know that I love and care for all dogs and are the first call they make when needing a sitter for their fur babies. I recently transitioned out of the tech industry after a 26-year career, meaning I now have a completely open and flexible schedule to provide your dog with full-time care and companionship. I am looking for something truly rewarding, and there is no better way for me to spend my days than surrounded by the animals that bring me so much joy. Because I am home throughout the day, your pup will benefit from a consistent routine, frequent potty breaks, and constant supervision. The house is fully fenced and features a doggy door to allow pups to come and go safely as they please. I currently do not have any dogs living here, as I sadly lost my precious girl earlier this year. Because of this, your dog will have our absolute, undivided attention and the entire space to themselves during their stay.
About: I have loved dogs and puppies since before I could walk. I was the main caretaker of a 4 year old dog since he was a puppy before I moved to college, and now that I’ve graduated I want to be able to care for dogs again! I absolutely love the outdoors, including going on walks or hikes and parks. I'm very energetic, hard working, and punctual! I'll try to get back as soon as I can on any sitter requests. Feel free to let me know any special requests with your dog, I'm pretty flexible.
“Keslee was great with William, my senior dog, and Stella, my energetic Aussie. Provided photos, was prompt, communicated well. Will book her again in the future.”

“Sylvia was great. One of our cats rarely comes out for other people, but she came out when Sylvia was there. She really knows how to interact with shy cats and made ours feel comfortable, giving us peace of mind while we were gone. Thanks Sylvia :)”

“Wendy is amazing. So patient, kind and accommodating. She was great with being patient with Arthur, and even providing emotional support to me as a new dog mom! lol. Highly recommend.”

“Sara helped us with a last-minute request to drop in on our 2 cats (and a gecko!) for several days. She responded immediately and was super communicative throughout our time away. She made me feel at ease that our pets were in good hands, she was happy to help with a couple other things we needed taken care of, and our kitties clearly enjoyed having her visit!”

About: Dogs have always been a part of me growing up. I've always had at least two dogs from small dogs to big dogs. Now, I just have Klaus, my 8yo Schnauzer. He enjoys company from small ones to doberman sized dogs. I do have work Mondays to Fridays but am able to go home at lunch if needed. I also get every other Fridays off. I always walk Klaus regardless of the weather and will treat your dogs like they are mine - always with love and special care. I can also administer medicine if needed. When my pets get sick, I care for them and give them more than the vet's recommendation. Your pet will be safe and will have a great time with my household.
About: My son and I live on a quiet dead end street in Holladay. We cared for 2 of our own dogs for 11 years. For the last 3 years we cared for a small dog with a heart condition who recently passed away at 17 years old. I am retired, so lots of time to care for dogs. My son’s schedule is flexible and will be able to assist when I need to be away from home. We have a fenced yard for your dog to play in and explore. There is also a doggy door. Your dog will have access to the whole house.

“Four stars for finding an alive and healthy cat, 1 less star for filthy litter box, bone dry water fountain and crusted dry wet food bowl and visit hours that were sporadic and disconnected from requested slots. Meghan might be an awesome dog walker and pet host, though I have not used her for those services, I will hesitate to recommend her for cat drop ins. I have used better cat sitters from Rover.”

“Sariah is amazing! So kind, patient and sweet :) She was so patient with Arthur who is slow to warm up to new people. She had him on a walk within minutes :) I’ll be reaching out to her again for sure!”

About: Most of my experience caring for others pets come from my roommates, I’ve cared for and loved their dogs and cats like they are my own. I am my friends go to for sitting their pets when they go out of town. I am comfortable cleaning crates, bathing, feeding, walking/hiking, and playing with your pet. I will go above and beyond to provide care for your family member. I am currently working part time so I will have plenty of time to stop in and care for your dog. I am mostly available during the day times but some evenings. I have one friendly and playful yellow lab puppy who would love to meet your pup! I live close to parks and dog parks and take my pup on regular walks around the neighborhood.

Gaby is amazing with our girl, Mika! She helps us out with daily drop-in visits, and we couldn’t ask for a more kind, caring, and reliable sitter. Mika (and our kitty Kiki) absolutely love her. Gaby has been doing drop-ins consistently for 7 months and we would highly recommend her services! Thanks, Gaby!

My husky, Tosh, is 14.5 years old with lots of health issues, and Beverly has been so great with him and all his needs (specifically mobility issues)! She sends plenty of pictures and updates, which gives me peace of mind while I’m away. She’s always on time, very respectful of our home, and Tosh is always excited to see her. Having someone this trustworthy and responsible looking after him has been a Godsend. I’ll definitely be booking her again next time he needs a sitter.

Jami was wonderful and took a booking for our spicy cat at the last second when we found out he’d be needing medicine twice a day while we were out of town. A total professional from the first moment we met her I trusted her in my home and with my cat who has scared away countless friends and family who never had to consider administering him medicine. She brought us amazing peace of mind so we could enjoy our trip. HIGHLY recommend!!

Cooper was really punctual and made sure I got feedback everyday. I got photos and update on her eating and moods, which I loved! She was super sweet with momo (I could tell from all the flopping she did) and I am already planning future bookings with her again. Highly highly recommend.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
