“We were only away for a night and Elena did a great job checking on our golden doodle, Arya, playing with her, and making sure her food and water bowls are refreshed. She was timely and started the check-in around the same time that she said she would. We will definitely be using her again!”

About: My son and I live on a quiet dead end street in Holladay. We cared for 2 of our own dogs for 11 years. For the last 3 years we cared for a small dog with a heart condition who recently passed away at 17 years old. I am retired, so lots of time to care for dogs. My son’s schedule is flexible and will be able to assist when I need to be away from home. We have a fenced yard for your dog to play in and explore. There is also a doggy door. Your dog will have access to the whole house.

“Sara helped us with a last-minute request to drop in on our 2 cats (and a gecko!) for several days. She responded immediately and was super communicative throughout our time away. She made me feel at ease that our pets were in good hands, she was happy to help with a couple other things we needed taken care of, and our kitties clearly enjoyed having her visit!”

“Madison was like a breath of fresh air after having an horrific experience with my previous sitter (not from Rover). My boys love her and she took such good care of them. I will definitely be using her again and so should you!”

About: If I had to choose between a room full of people and a room full of animals, I’m choosing the animals. Every single time. I’ve been an animal person for as long as I can remember, and I genuinely believe that caring for someone’s pet is a huge responsibility. I have two beloved cats of my own who are my entire world, so I know firsthand how much trust it takes to leave your animals in someone else’s care. I don’t take that trust lightly. My cats are strictly indoor cats, and I’m extremely attentive to keeping them safe and secure. I know how important it is to follow each pet’s specific routine and boundaries—from making sure doors are never accidentally left open to keeping potential hazards out of reach. The little details matter, and when it comes to animals, I’m pretty obsessive about them. I’m the person who notices if your pet’s water bowl is getting low, double-checks the door before leaving, makes sure there isn’t a rogue hair tie or piece of string within reach, and will happily send you way too many photos because I know you want to see your fur baby. 🙂 I’m naturally very organized, attentive, and probably a little Type A when it comes to animal safety and wellbeing, which is exactly how I think it should be! I also have a huge soft spot for pit bulls. I absolutely adore their goofy, sweet, big-hearted personalities. But honestly, I love creatures of all kinds. I’m the person who will carefully escort a spider outside rather than squish it. Every animal deserves kindness, patience, and respect. During the week, I work from home in a corporate role, which gives me flexibility in my schedule and allows me to be available for walks, drop-ins, and plenty of attention throughout the day. I’m reliable, communicative, and will treat your pets and your home with the same care and respect I would expect from someone caring for my own. Whether your pet is a social butterfly who wants to play, a couch potato who just wants company, or a little more cautious and needs someone to earn their trust, I’m happy to meet them where they are. Your pets are FAMILY. And I’d be honored to take care of yours. 💚🐾 I work from home in a corporate role Monday-Friday, so I have a flexible schedule and availability throughout the day. I can accommodate walks, drop-ins, and house sitting, and I’m happy to work around your pet’s normal routine. I love having animals as part of my day, so they’ll get plenty of attention, playtime, and companionship rather than being left alone for long stretches. I’m extremely detail-oriented when it comes to animal safety and care. I’ll follow your pet’s routine closely, including feeding, medications, walks, and any specific instructions you leave. I’m especially mindful of doors, gates, leashes, and potential hazards, and I’ll always treat your home and your pets with the same care I would my own. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you know your pets are safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away. My two cats are strictly outdoors and not once have they ever gotten out, nor have I ever not been aware of where they are at all times.
“Isabelle went above and beyond. The amount of care, concern, and thoughtfulness Isabelle showed was exemplary. We appreciate Isabelle’s check ins, communication, and thoughtful questions.”

About: I have 2 active Australian shepherds that I care for. They go to the park twice a day! Both are very hyper so I always make sure to give them multiple walks as well as park time. I feed my dogs on a set schedule around 5-6pm with one large meal as well as a lighter meal in the morning. My dogs are always up to date with checkups and shots! I don’t play favorites and will divvy up play time equally. I owned multiple cats growing up as a kid as well as a Jack Russell Terrier during high school. I also have experience caring for exotic pets, such as rabbits/bunnies and have owned 2 previously. I work from home full time so I am able to care for multiple pets. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to walk my dogs multiple times per day and usually 2 long walks at the dog park. I wake up around 6am to walk them then work between 9-5pm. In between those hours I take my dogs out for a walk or two as well as entertain them on my breaks. We have plenty of dog toys available for them to entertain themselves. I allow my dogs to free roam the house because they’ve earned that privilege but crate time every now and then is also utilized. I also run a lot with my dogs, so if your dog enjoys runs I am happy to do that as well. I keep my dogs upstairs with me while I work or sometimes leave them downstairs where they nap on the couch and relax. I like to give my dogs dedicated decompression time in their crates after play time or during dinner. I have a fully fenced yard will plenty of space for your pets to roam. I will always treat your pet as if it were my own. Trust is not built in one day, but it can be lost instantly!
“Ashley did a great job checking in on our cat Leo! We are grateful she was available during Christmas. She made sure to spend time cuddling and playing with our social cat and sent lots of cute photos. We even came home to a printed out photo she took of Leo! Will be booking with Ashley next time we have a trip!”

“Yosis was unbelievably helpful with a last min drop in booking! I have one wild puppy and another senior. She went above and beyond. I would highly recommend her for drop in visits or overnight stays”
About: What sets me apart from other sitters is my genuine love for animals and my eagerness to provide the best possible care. While I may not have formal experience, I have spent a lot of time caring for pets of friends and family. This has given me a deep understanding of their needs and behaviors. I am a quick learner and very attentive to the unique needs of each pet. Whether it’s providing plenty of playtime for energetic puppies or offering a calm and comforting presence for senior pets, I am dedicated to ensuring that every pet feels loved and cared for. My enthusiasm and dedication make me a reliable and compassionate pet sitter. I am committed to building trust with both pets and their owners, ensuring a positive and enjoyable experience for all. Pet care fits seamlessly into my daily and weekly routine, complementing my active and flexible lifestyle. I work part-time, which allows me to dedicate ample time to caring for pets and ensuring they receive the attention and exercise they need. I love spending time outdoors and frequently go hiking, which provides a fantastic opportunity for dogs to join me on these adventures. The regular outdoor activities not only keep me active but also ensure that pets in my care get plenty of exercise and stimulation. My flexible schedule allows me to be available for pet care throughout the week, accommodating various needs such as feeding, walking, playtime, and administering medications if necessary. My passion for the outdoors and love for animals make pet care a natural and enjoyable part of my routine. When caring for pets in my client’s home, I focus on providing a comfortable and stress-free experience tailored to each pet’s unique needs. My services include: 1. Feeding and Hydration: I ensure pets are fed according to their regular schedule and dietary requirements, providing fresh water at all times. 2. Exercise and Play: For dogs, I incorporate regular walks and playtime, both indoors and outdoors, to keep them active and engaged. Cats receive interactive play sessions and enrichment activities to stimulate their minds and bodies. 3. Medication Administration: If needed, I carefully administer any medications, following the owner’s instructions to ensure the pet’s health and well-being. 4. Comfort and Companionship: I spend quality time with pets, offering plenty of affection and attention to help them feel secure and loved while their owners are away. 5. Cleanliness: I maintain a clean environment by cleaning litter boxes, disposing of waste, and keeping feeding and play areas tidy. 6. Routine Updates: I provide regular updates to pet owners, including photos and reports on their pet’s activities and well-being, giving them peace of mind. My goal is to replicate the pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, minimizing stress and ensuring they remain happy and healthy in their familiar environment.
“We had never used Rover before, but were told by others to schedule a meet & greet. From the moment my husband and I met Leigh, we knew she would do a great job taking care of our cat. We came home to a clean home and to a cat that was obviously well taken care of. We received daily updates through Rover as well as photos. Rover should be proud to have Leigh representing its company.”

“Tess was amazing with my 10-week old puppy, Cash. I was really worried about leaving him and going back to work but she was great. She was on time, took him out to potty, played with him for the full 30 mins and tired him out. She sent me a few pictures and updated me on how he was. I will definitely schedule with her again. I highly recommend!”
About: I have raised my German Shepherd since she was a puppy and trained her myself. We got compliments all of the time for her well behaved and nice selection of tricks. I grew up with cats as well and know that it takes some time to adjust to someone new, as I respect animals need for that period of adjustment. I have a genuine love for animals. I currently have two orange cats, Pumpkin and Butternut who are spoiled rotten. I’d love a chance to spoil your fur baby! I am currently a full time student at SLCC in the nursing program. I attend class every Wednesday and Friday from 8am-12pm which would be the only time I am unavailable during a typical week! If booking on a Wednesday or Friday morning, I would have to guarantee enough time for me to be at class on time. I am currently not offering boarding services, but I am offering house sitting services. I live in a townhome with no yard and have two cats that are not a fan of dogs.
About: Growing up, I have always been surrounded by animals, whether they were reptiles or dogs. I currently have three rescued felines and they are my world. Home is wherever animals are. I work from home and am available to attend to your pets’ needs Monday through Friday. My flexible schedule ensures I can provide consistent care and attention for your pet. My apartment is surrounded by areas where I can take out your pet for a walk and for potty breaks. I also have friendly cats who don’t mind dogs.

Brooklyn was amazing with my Princess! This was my first time ever leaving her with someone, and I was naturally a little nervous. Brooklyn made me feel so at ease and gave me the confidence to trust her with my baby. When Princess threw up, she immediately notified me to keep me informed and reassure me that Princess was okay. She even cleaned it up, which I truly appreciated! Princess absolutely adored her, and that means the world to me. I’m so grateful for the love, care, and attention she gave my girl. I would absolutely trust her with Princess again!

Gaby is amazing with our girl, Mika! She helps us out with daily drop-in visits, and we couldn’t ask for a more kind, caring, and reliable sitter. Mika (and our kitty Kiki) absolutely love her. Gaby has been doing drop-ins consistently for 7 months and we would highly recommend her services! Thanks, Gaby!

Jami was wonderful and took a booking for our spicy cat at the last second when we found out he’d be needing medicine twice a day while we were out of town. A total professional from the first moment we met her I trusted her in my home and with my cat who has scared away countless friends and family who never had to consider administering him medicine. She brought us amazing peace of mind so we could enjoy our trip. HIGHLY recommend!!

Very great communication and most of all I felt comfortable leaving my Zara with her. Diana knew all of the right questions to ask and was very courteous with keeping the house clean. Zara does not like most sitters and somehow Diana was able to get her to come out, play, and receive treats which made me so happy. We will definitely book again!

I have never had such wonderful care for my kitties. Being away for two weeks without a worry and coming home to everything and I mean everything clean and in place and well cared for was a first. Sylvia was fantastic with my three kitties. I am very happy and grateful.

Lauren is so friendly and she was wonderful with our cat Pipkin. She was on time each visit and did a great job following our preferred feeding schedule - which is a bit tricky. She provided daily updates and photos and helped us keep on eye on the temperature in our home during a heat wave. She was accommodating to our every wish when it came to the care of our pet. We would definitely use her again for daily drop-in visits when we are out of town. I’ll also add that she took the job booking kind of last minute which was a great relief. If you want the very best care for your pet - Lauren can deliver!

Sarah really helped me out for a last minute long-term booking when my plans fell through right before an international trip. She was great! Frequent pics of the cats helped me feel little stress that they were taken care of while I was away. She also stayed longer one day when the batteries in my CO sensor died and the alarm was going off to make sure she and I talked and things were ok. Would definitely hire again, thanks Sarah!!

Anna did a fantastic job caring for our two cats while we were on a two-week vacation. She was incredibly responsive, kept us updated with pictures after every visit, ensured both cats were eating well, and spent time playing and hanging out with them daily. It was clear that both cats were relaxed and comfortable with her taking care of them. It was very reassuring to know they were in good hands while we were gone, and we would 100% recommend her to care for your cats and would be happy to book her again.

Sean had great, prompt communication and was able to help out with my cat Juneau, fish and kept an eye on plants as I rushed out of town before my father passed. I appreciate knowing my cat could stay in my home while I was away. Sean was attentive to how to best be around my space (asking questions early when clarification was needed). He even gave me some recommendations based on things he used for his cat. Thanks Sean.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
