“Sarah is amazing! Cooper can be iffy with new people and by the 2nd walk he didn’t even bark when she came in and was just excited to see her :) she took so many pictures to share and he was very happy in every one. Will absolutely book her again”

About: I am a lifelong pet owner and animal lover with over 25 years of caregiving experience. I have had dogs almost continuously since kindergarten ranging in size from a 5 lb poodle mix (Trooper) to a 95 lb yellow lab (Nala), in addition to 3 years as a parent to 2 cats, Jules and Gemini. Jules was with us only briefly due to her advanced age when she was adopted, while Gemini is a much younger kitten who wasted no time claiming my home as her own. I also recently lost my 10 year old corgi (Sadie) unexpectedly to an extremely aggressive form of cancer, and so would love the opportunity to spend some therapeutic time with your furry kid. Prior to beginning work through Rover, I have several years of experience caring for cats and dogs for a variety of friends, family, and neighbors including everything from drop-in visits and dog walking to full-time house/petsitting. Outside of my petsitting duties, I am a PhD chemist working hard to make the battery in your phone last longer and your electric car drive further. My wife and I moved to the Silver Spring area in 2024 for her job as a television producer and I am in the process of establishing myself in the DMV research community. Availability: Except in special cases, I am available for booking at any time of day, any day of the week. I am happy to provide everything from drop-in visits to extended overnight stays. I am currently working part-time from home, so I am excited to have the opportunity to care for your pets at any time! This can include drop-in visits to your home, overnight stays with your fur baby, and day-care or boarding at my home (as long as they're friendly with my cat Gemini). I am glad to visit your home as frequently as you prefer. All visits will include checks for water quantity and freshness, any prescribed food refills or walks, and of course play time. I'm also happy to provide overnight care for your pets and home if preferred, please send me a message if you are interested in more long-term visits. I'm also very happy to host your pets in my own home! I have plenty of room for cats and dogs up to 50-70 lbs. Both my wife and I have had pets our entire lives and between the two of us, someone is nearly always home to supervise and provide any needed care. Since I live in an apartment complex, I do not have a private yard but do have plenty of communal space for walks and other outdoor activity.
“Sydni is amazing with my dog and cat. My dog has a habit of hiding under the couch despite the meet and greet. She loved Sydni. Anytime one of my pets had an accident, she went above and beyond to clean it up. Great with communication!!! I.”

“Cindy was great! She was very punctual, communicative, and caring with my dog when she took him for a walk. She also sent me many pictures from the walk. I would definitely hire her again!”

About: I’ve taken care of many animals from dogs, cats, to even certain reptiles, which makes me comfortable with all kinds of animals no matter the shape or size. My daily and weekly routine naturally includes taking care of my pets, and I make sure to give them lots of compassion, consistency, and attention. In order to keep an eye on my general health and mood, I set aside time each day for feeding, fresh water, walks or exercise, and check-ins. Whether it's cleaning feeding places, maintaining litter boxes, or organizing pet areas, I'm conscious of keeping the surroundings tidy. To keep pets cognitively and physically engaged throughout the week, I integrate lengthier walks, play sessions, and enrichment activities. I also keep an eye out for any behavioral or appetite shifts and provide regular reports. My schedule is both flexible enough to accommodate each pet's particular requirements and organized enough to guarantee that they always feel loved, safe, and cared for. When it comes to taking care of pets, whether in my own house or a client's, my primary goals are safety, trust, and a peaceful atmosphere. To make sure each creature feels safe and comfortable, I take the time to learn about their routine, preferences, and any unique requirements. I respect a client's personal space and pay great attention to all care instructions, such as feeding schedules, walk routines, medicine (if necessary), and house regulations. I maintain their space tidy and orderly while ensuring that pets remain in a comfortable, stress-free setting. Additionally, I pay close attention to keeping an eye on my pets while they are outside and making sure they don't have access to anything dangerous. When I take care of pets at home, I make sure the space is hygienic, safe, and equipped for comfort and surveillance.

“Patricia and her husband helped us on a very short notice by feeding and walking our dog when we were away for a night. They responded so quickly to our request. Very reliable and trustworthy.”

About: I have been taking care of my family friends' pets since I was 10. One of those family friends had a chicken, two cats, 1 dog, 2 bearded dragons, hamsters, fish, and a turtle (not to mention a garden to tend to!) all in one go, and I was the one that was called to take care of them all when the family was out of town. I also cared for a 17 year old cat, making sure to give her the medication she needed in a timely manner. I helped my friend care for and train their puppy when it was 10 weeks old, which included socializing it in a variety of situations. Most recently, I took care of my friends axolotl, which had its own specific needs. These experiences have definitely taught me the joys and responsibilities of caring for a pet. Any pet care would easily fit into my everyday schedule. I am currently not working so I am quite flexible every day of the week. I already go on walks at least twice a day, which could easily include a dog by my side! There are trails by my house that I typically love to go to, and beaches where I am a regular. We are a very pet friendly household. I have an entire empty bedroom for a dog to play in or to put their kennel, if they are kennel trained. We do not mind having dogs on the couches in the living room and porch. I spend a lot of time in common spaces already and so much of my time would be spent with the pet, either playing with them, or in their company if I'm working on things on the computer.
“Anton has been walking our Pittie, Mihoshi, for months, and he is an excellent walker!! He’s very attentive to our pup’s behavior and communicates thoroughly. If we ever need to make adjustments, he is flexible. If he has upcoming plans, he informs us weeks in advance so we can work out the schedule together. I couldn’t recommend him more if you’re looking for a walker or sitter for your furry friend. :)”

“Oliver is the best—a responsible animal-lover who walked our corgi for two weeks while I was out of the country. Oliver sent photos and videos, and kept in touch via text message. We will be using Oliver’s services again soon. Highly recommend! Thanks, Oliver!”
“Jenn is great! She kept us well informed about the dog walk with Ashton. I always appreciate her quick response and great communication skills. We will definitely book Jenn again for walking Ashton!”

“So thankful for the help! They were all great pics, and you were extremely punctual. I also really appreciated you stoping by for a meet and greet in such short notice prior to us leaving town. Thanks again for everything!”

“Linda has been walking our 1 year old puppy for a few months now and we couldn't be happier so far. After having a really bad experience with a walker on this app, we were nervous to let someone back in. She is personable, kind, and easygoing. Very responsive and agreeable even when I mess up my own schedule. We were worried our puppy would be too much but she has big dogs and does a good job of handling his energy positively.”

“Cheryl is wonderful, warm, professional and reliable. She was available on very short notice and came over to meet our pups. They warmed up to her right away. Not only did she walk them but spent time playing with them and sent us pictures. She is our go-to!”

“Oluwaseun is such a wonderful dog walker! I will definitely use her again! She went far and above the walking responsibilities. She communicated before arrival and completion, sending cool photos of what my dog Ralph experienced on his walk.💗💗 She was attentive to all the details of what my dog needed. I felt so at ease having her walk my senior dog.”

“Marina is the sweetest and leaves the most in depth and adorable walk cards/updates for my fur baby! Cru recognizes Marina now and does her full routine with her - such a great Walker!”

Zaena was professional, timely and easy to work with! She is very quick to respond and was able to do a meet and greet same day. She took the time to make our dog Guinness comfortable before the first walk, took lots of pictures and had great communication updates for me. She even went out in the rain and made sure Guinness had his raincoat on. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
