If I could give Tom 100 stars, I would. He truly went above and beyond in caring for our dogs. From the moment we left, we received continuous updates and photos which gave me complete peace of mind. He didn't just cover the basics, he showered them with so much genuine love, care, and attention. The real proof was in our dogs' behavior they were actually sad when he left! It is so rare to find someone who connects with your babies like this. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Guillermo was awesome taking care of my dog. He went above and beyond taking care of her he took her to the pond and took her on a car ride which she loves. When I got back and said my goodbyes to Guillermo my dog kept looking back at the door waiting for him to come back and stay. I will absolutely use Guillermo in the future based on how happy he made my dog and with his communication throughout. 10/10 guy👍

It is not easy to find someone that will care for you family pet, especially when they get up in years and require a bit more care. The struggle is real. Then like magic appears the perfect, most caring, attentive, loving person. I have never felt so comfortable leaving LillyJetJoy with anyone. I received daily updates and photos. Her medications were administered and her "senior" issues were attended to and considered with her walks, sleep and meals. Once you find such a great care provider, you almost dont want to share. However, I must. Kerri is highly highly recommended.

Nikki did a great job taking care of our 4-month-old puppy, Gus, for 9 days — no easy task! Aside from the basics of feeding, potty (even when he resisted), exercise and training, Nikki gave Gus LOTS of love. She clearly enjoyed playing and snuggling with her new buddy and she kept us updated with daily messages, photos and videos. Plus, when our return flight was delayed, Nikki cheerfully stayed late into the evening, even though she had another dog-sitting job starting the next day. Thanks, Nikki — we had such peace of mind knowing you were taking good care of our little puppy!

About: Dogs are more than just pets…they’re family and vital companions in our daily lives. With over a decade of hands-on experience caring for pets of all shapes and sizes (from geckos to Great Danes), I bring a calm, attentive, and knowledgeable approach to dog sitting and walking. I am currently in a mentorship and shadow program intensive to also become a dog trainer, so your dog will also get to practice some skills with me! My journey with dogs began early with family pets and expanded into dedicated pet sitting for neighbors and friends. As a lifelong learner, I’ve spent years studying dog behavior, body language, and communication styles through training my own dog. I have experience working with reactive dogs, maintaining strict routines, and using consistent, structure to make every pup feel safe and secure. I also regularly assist a close friend who is a professional dog trainer, which has given me great insight into handling diverse personalities, energy levels, and care needs. Outside of pet care, I work as a mental health therapist. My professional background deeply informs how I interact with animals. I understand the reciprocal bond between humans and their dogs, and I treat every animal in my care with the utmost empathy, patience, and respect. What to Expect Attentive & Safety First Care: Whether keeping up with medication, supporting structured routines, or managing triggers on walks, your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. Active Adventures: I love helping dogs explore! If your pup enjoys an active lifestyle, I’m happy to take them along for hikes, trail walks, or gentle runs tailored to their fitness level. Tailored Communication: You’ll receive clear, regular updates and photos so you can have complete peace of mind while you’re away. Whether your dog needs a chill check-in, a structured neighborhood stroll, or a outdoor trail adventure, I’ll provide the exact same devotion, care, and attention I give to my own dog. I look forward to meeting you and your pup! I currently work from home as a mental health therapist. I am able to make my schedule and work around your pet’s needs as needed! There will always be time for potty and play breaks. I have a large yard, as well as my dog who is crate trained. If staying at your home, I would love to be clear on your pet’s schedule so they can have consistency. I also love having adventure buddies, so if your dog likes to be out in nature for trail walks or swims, I’m your gal!

Liz was amazing with our two dogs (who have totally different personalities and ages)! She genuinely cares about their well being and how to best take care of their needs. She quickly gained their trust, which is not easy with either of our dogs, as both have some anxiety with meeting new people. On top of that, she took great care of our house too! We are already booking her for more overnight stays. We’re so excited to have found someone who we can trust our pups and house too for short and extended stays!

About: I’ve been loving and caring for cats and dogs for over 10 years. Friends, family, and neighbors always rely on me to drop in, feed, and play with their pets while they're away. I have plenty of experience with all ages, from tiny puppies and kittens to sweet seniors. I love keeping pets active with fun enrichment games and can even help teach them new tricks! I’ll care for them just like they’re my own and send you plenty of cute updates along the way! Since I work a steady 9-5 schedule during the week, your pet will enjoy a wonderful, predictable routine! We kick off our days with an energetic morning walk so they can completely relax, and I love setting them up with fun puzzle toys to keep their minds active. As soon as I'm off the clock, my full attention shifts right back to them for dinner, an evening walk, and plenty of couch cuddles. When the weekend hits, I am completely free! This is when we dive into longer adventures, extra-long walks, and much more enriching activities to really spoil your furry friend. It’s a loving, consistent rhythm that keeps pets feeling safe, happy, and right at home! About: Hello there! I am a full-time musician and a major dog-lover. I have a 5 year old rescue Australian Cattle Dog mix. I love to play, walk and run with furry friends and make music with them (This is quite an entertaining activity for both of us, and a great way to keep them busy). Most of my experience has been in dog-walking, but I'm also a babysitter and love caring for kids. I have a 1 year old who is the joy of my life! I am available for one-time help with your fluffy friend as well as regular help since my schedule is pretty flexible at the moment. I am quick on my feet and great at tidying up after dogs and tiny humans, and can be very firm with pups if necessary. Happy to speak more in person! I’m currently working part-time and mostly on weekends since I’m a musician, so I have quite a bit of time during the week to drop in, feed and walk your furry friends I have a fenced in backyard and an extra crate for pups that I’m boarding, but also make sure that when I’m house-sitting, your fur baby has water, a clean crate and whatever else they need

FAQs for House Sitting - Wilmington

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Wilmington on Rover is $62.25 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 6,305 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Wilmington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wilmington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wilmington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wilmington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Wilmington. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
