About: I've been obsessed with animals since I was a kid. I always had cats growing up and took horseback riding lessons where I also learned to care for the horses. I've had my rescue pomeranian for 8 years. She was definitely a struggle when we got her. She required two years of training and medication, but completely worth it! Over the years I have taken in 23 foster dogs, including a pregnant dog that had 13 puppies! I raised the puppies until they were ready to go off to their forever homes (yes, all 13). All of the foster dogs have had various behavior and medical needs that I worked with. I have administered oral medication, ear drops, eye drops, and vulva wipes. I have also been volunteering at an animal shelter for the last three years, walking dogs and cleaning kennels. I have walked dogs of all ages and sizes and cleaned up giant messes. No mess your animal makes will ever be a problem for me! I also worked at an AZA accredited zoo where I handled snakes, lizards, chinchillas, turtles, doves, owls, a baby alligator, and more! In addition, I volunteered at the Reptile House in the zoo where I made lots of salad, cleaned up Galapagos Tortoise poop, and fed out live earthworms. I am happy to take care of any of your exotic pets including doing feedings. I am excited to meet your wonderful critter and get to know all about them! My work hours outside of pet care are Monday and Thursday from 2:00-7:00. Otherwise I am free. This gives me plenty of time to get in multiple walks and give your pet plenty of love! I've crate trained 9 dogs and worked with dogs with anxiety. I also had a foster dog who would get into EVERYTHING. He always wanted to knock over the garbage and grab anything off of a table to I made sure everything was out of his reach. I will make sure to follow all instructions you give me and keep a close eye on your pet when I am in your home.
“Nicolas stayed at our house and look care of our 70 pound, reactive, German shepherd, Danny and did such an incredible job. He sent us videos and photos throughout his stay and always kept us updated on how Danny was doing. We’ve used serveral rover’s in the past and Nicolas is by far the most attentive and professional Rover we’ve ever had. I can’t recommend Nicolas enough, he was a 10/10 hire.”
About: Hi! I’m Candace, a lifelong animal lover and devoted pet parent. I’ve cared for dogs of all shapes, sizes, and personalities from energetic puppies to senior rescues. With a lifetime of experience in pet-sitting, house-sitting, and loving dogs like my own, I truly get animals on a deep level. My own pup of 8 years (a sweet rescue!) has taught me so much about compassion, patience, and the magic of building trust. Your pet’s safety, happiness, and comfort are my top priorities. I am a full-time pet caregiver with open availability, allowing me to give your pet the attention and consistency they deserve. I have years of experience caring for animals and have been around pets my entire life. I offer walks, drop-in visits, in-home care, and boarding. I’m attentive to each pet’s unique personality and needs—whether that means active outings, structured routines, or gentle companionship. After recently losing my own dog, I deeply understand the bond we share with our pets and treat every animal in my care like family. I want your pet to feel safe, loved, and completely at ease while you’re away. I’m happy to care for your pet in your home so they can stay in their familiar environment and routine. I’m very respectful of your space and make sure everything is kept clean and peaceful. If your pet stays with me, they’ll be in a cozy, calm, pet-friendly home where they’ll get lots of love, attention, and a comfortable place to rest. I really tune into each animal’s personality and needs, whether they’re playful, sensitive, or just want a calm presence. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you always know your pet is happy and safe.
“Sarah did a really great job and I can tell she loves animals! She kept me informed and put my mind at ease. We will definitely want to have her pet sit for us in the future!”

“Mabel loves Jack so much! He does such a great job keeping her routine, he very attentive to her and always makes sure she is taken care of no matter what is going on. He always takes such good care of her and she is so comfortable with him because of it. He also did a great job sending me lots of pictures and videos which helped me relax while I was away.”

About: I have grown up with dogs my whole life. Right now I have a golden retriever and two dachshunds. I always take my dogs on walks once or twice a day. I am a college student who is looking for some extra cash! I am home for the summer so I have lots of time to spare. I will care for your pets as if they were my own! Your fuzzy baby is safe with me and they will get lots of exercise.
“Michael took great care of my dog Mochi and my house. He's friendly and very easy to talk with about dog things and beyond. He graciously accepted my last minute request to house sit, and followed my detailed instructions for Mochi's routine. I'll definitely ask him to house sit for Mochi again.”

“JoAnne was great to work with! It’s always hard for me to leave my senior chihuahua, but JoAnne provided excellent communication with many updates and pictures. It was reassuring to see my baby so comfortable around her and I came home to a happy pup. I would highly recommend JoAnne to anyone looking for assistance. Thank you JoAnne!”

“Sam was truly excellent. We have a very old black Lab, Bella, who needs help getting up and down 3 stairs to the back yard. She is very sweet, but you need to be attentive and aware when she asks to go out. Sam was communicative/responsive, sent pictures, and had a calm and kind demanor. Bella was in as good shape as an ancient one can be when we returned and the house was very clean as well. My wife and I recommend Sam with no reservation!”

About: I have experience giving medications (pills, liquids, ear/eye drops) as well as experience with senior and small dogs especially. Senior care is my strength but I love dogs of all ages. I work from home part time and am home all day Friday-Monday. There are no children or pets in the home so I am able to provide my undivided attention. Your dog will be inside my home most of the day as I do not have a yard. I do however have a large park/lake across the street that I frequent that is great for walks.
“I had to go out of town for a family emergency on short notice and MeganLyn stepped in to take excellent care of my girl and was so sweet to check in on me too. I had such peace of mind knowing she was there :)”

“Mahima was fantastic! If I could leave more than five stars I would. She is detail oriented, and followed all my instructions perfectly. I was worried about my reactive boy. But she handled him beautifully, and is very confident in her approach. She sent many videos of daily activities, ensuring my furry friend was well taken care of. If she was unclear, she didn't hesitate to ask. She left my house immaculate. Mahima is extremely kind and respectful, and a lovely human being. I highly recommend her. Sparky and I both say THANK YOU Mahima!”

About: I've taken care of dogs of friends for the last 10 years. It started when a co worker was in need of someone to watch their dog and it has snowballed ever since I work from home 100% of the time. I can take breaks periodically to walk, play and relieve them. Sometimes they are guest stars in a some zoom calls :) I love playing with dogs. It's fun for me. I like to give a daily update and check in with the parents. I like to communicate and let them know how the animal is doing
“Kristina took exceptional care of our three dogs from December 26th through January 3rd, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. From day one, her communication was outstanding — she consistently sent thoughtful updates, along with plenty of photos and videos that truly put us at ease while we were away. It was clear that Kristina genuinely cared for our dogs as if they were her own. She made sure they got plenty of exercise and mental stimulation, taking them on regular walks and frequently to the apartment dog park so they could relax, play, and keep their routines. Seeing how comfortable and happy they were in her care made all the difference. Beyond the excellent pet care, Kristina was incredibly respectful of our home and followed all of our requests closely. We returned to a clean space and, most importantly, three very happy dogs. We highly recommend Kristina to anyone looking for a reliable, attentive, and compassionate sitter. We would absolutely book her again without hesitation.”

About: We both grew up with dogs. We currently have 1 cat which we have had for 10 years, a large dog, and a medium sized dogs. This collection of pets gives us a good amount of experience in caring for different types of pets as well as how they interact with each other. In addition to our own pets we have also cared for some of our friends pets overnight on many occasions and have shared houses with roommates who have also had dogs and cats. I have no prior professional experience caring for others pets, do I m a behavioral psychologist who has worked with neurodivergent children for many years and can apply these concepts to pet care. One of us works from home 5 days a week and the other works from home 2 days a week. With the exception of some meetings, can be flexible to provide care at most times of the day. In our experience, that dogs and cats crave more than anything else is safety, trust, and an understanding of the ways they attempt to communicate with you. Our pets are capable of being on their own when needed, but when we are around they never leave our sides even for a moment. They are obedience as trained through positive reinforcement and socialization through meaningful experiences. They look to us for guidance, but we also like to challenge them to think for themselves to solve problems such as getting a to out of reach or navigating to us when the path is not visibly clear. I give this level of attention and support to every pet I meet and know how to build a relationship of trust and respect quickly and effectively. Even pets belonging to former roommates tend to follow me more than their owners after enough time.
Wilmington pet parents share their Rover experiences
I am reluctant to leave a review for Lauren as we will 100% use her services again in the future, but know a good review will make this harder in our future. But Lauren was/is awesome. We have a 200lb Great Dane and frequently travel where we need to house him for a couple days. In the past he has stopped eating which causes him to get anxious and 'hangry' and he's a mess when we get home. So we tried Rover and selected Lauren cause she has VetTech experience. She was wonderful with our pet AND even took him for daily walks which he loves but 200lbs is a lot when a squirrel crosses his path. Lauren is awesome and stayed over in our home for couple of days. Shows up on time and communicates expectations and daily status. Confidence with Lauren.

Ali took really good care of my dog Heidi, she went above and beyond what was expected and gave her all the attention and care she needed. She communicated effectively and even took her to the vet when she developed a yeast infection and talked to me about it. I could tell immediately she had lots of experience with dogs and that was important since I have a fast and strong dog that needs an experienced handler. One of the best rover experiences I’ve had, thank you.

Mahima was fantastic! If I could leave more than five stars I would. She is detail oriented, and followed all my instructions perfectly. I was worried about my reactive boy. But she handled him beautifully, and is very confident in her approach. She sent many videos of daily activities, ensuring my furry friend was well taken care of. Sparky and I both say THANK YOU Mahima!

Simply can't recommend Alex enough! She has been an absolute lifesaver for my boyfriend and me, helping with backup care for our dog, Mischa, who just went through TPLO surgery. From the very beginning, Alex has been incredibly attentive, kind, and reliable. Mischa (and our other animals too) warmed up to her instantly, which immediately put us at ease. Alex has gone above and beyond to make sure our pup is comfortable, safe, and happy—whether it’s administering medications, helping with mobility, or just providing extra love and cuddles during recovery. Her communication is excellent with regular check ins throughout the day, which has been a huge comfort during this stressful time. We feel so lucky to have found someone we can truly trust with our fur babies. If you’re looking for a compassionate, responsible, and loving caregiver for your dog, Alex is absolutely the one!

Shannon was wonderful. The boys loved her. I was worried about leaving them for days, as I never had, but once we met Shannon, those fears evaporated. She came for a couple short visits prior to my trip. They took to her immediately, and while I was away she sent videos and pics multiple times per day. Really couldn't be happier!

Having Samantha sit for us has been so wonderful! She takes such sweet care of our dog Gemma and the house is always in beautiful shape when we return. She is very responsive and sends the best photos of their time together. Highly recommend her and we are very grateful!

Andrew is so good to our pup. He is incredibly attentive and just so enthusiastic about being with him and caring for him. This was the first time we left our puppy and we felt so much better knowing that Andrew was the one caring for him. We got lots of pictures and updates and Fred had the time of his life hanging out with Andrew. Would definitely recommend Andrew to anyone needing extra help and love for their pup.

Butt’a liked Mario at our meet n greet, that’s huge for me. At the sitting Butt’a got to go on a nice walk and I appreciate the walking n feedback! Butt’a LOVES to walk around the neighborhood! I found Mario responsive, responsible and accountable, these are importance to me!
