“Mellony was a perfect cat sitter for our cats while we were away for a week. She took great care of our two cats by feeding them, cleaning up after them, and making sure everything was in order. We originally book one 30-minute visit per day, but Mellony generously offered to come twice a day for 15 minutes each visit so that both cats would get extra attention-without changing any additional fee. We truly appreciate her kindness and dedication. It gave us peace of mind knowing our cats were in such caring and reliable hands. I highly recommend Mellony and would definitely give her 5stat rating for her outstanding service! Thank you Mellony!!”

“Julie is amazing! I needed someone in a pinch and Julie came over to my house with her son to meet my dog before I went away for vacation and we all clicked right away! Julie is sweet, extremely responsive, available, on time with check ins, and great with posting pictures. I highly recommend her and will continue to request her first. Thanks Julie!”

“Jahari helped us out last minute when we needed someone with an extra skillset to check in on our girl. We highly recommend him to anyone needing a pet sitter and in particular anyone needing the extra layer of assurance a vet tech can provide. He is super kind and accommodating and we are glad to have found him!”
“Wish I could give MORE stars for Brady, she earned them! Our neighbor was watching our dog when needed, but moved away! I found Brady here and especially for her “older dog experience”, our dog was 15 years old! Brady came on the evenings I was working to give our dog, Bucca, a potty break! She would spend extra time with petting, treats, and TLC each time! Unfortunately our dog stopped eating and finding our steps difficult to climb up and down! Brady was there on the last evening before we euthanized our dog and she gave her extra special TLC for an extra time! I absolutely HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone to hire Brady to provide care for your pets whenever needed! When we get a new dog, she will be the first person that we will contact with our news!! Thank you Brady! For the short time you knew our dog, you became a GREAT FRIEND for her! God bless you!!”

“Caitlyn is great! Very quick responses, set up a meet and greet within a day, and was on time and sent pictures for each visit. Would for sure book again and probably will for our next vacation! Highly recommended”

“Carly was amazing! Very detailed updates, lots of pictures, while taking care of our sweet girl. Proactive communicator from start to finish! We will be booking with her again!”

About: I have a house full of loving animals that I help care for. I have always enjoyed pets and the joy they can provide. I would love to help families know their pets are taken care of. I currently work from home and have tons of flexibility. During the day I go out back and play with the dogs, make sure they and the rest of our pet family are fed and taken care of My family and I own 4 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 Guinea pigs. All of them are given the love that every pet deserves. We make sure they have a loving home. I would provide the same care to any pet in their homes.

“Karren has looked after my pets numerous times in her home and in mine and she has always done an excellent job. She communicates well and gives great updates on how the pets are doing.”

About: What truly sets me apart is my professional background. As a special education teacher with seven years of experience in the classroom, patience, structure, and the ability to adapt to individual needs are woven into everything I do. I bring that exact same mindset to pet care. I understand that every animal learns and communicates differently, and I excel at reading body language and adjusting my approach to make sure every pet feels safe, understood, and comfortable. Alongside having pets my entire life, I have spent the last 8 years providing dedicated pet care for family members and neighbors. Because of my teaching background, I am highly reliable when it comes to maintaining strict daily routines. This makes me particularly well-equipped to handle the unique needs of different life stages: Senior Care: I am incredibly patient and comfortable maintaining the slow, gentle pacing and strict medication or dietary schedules that senior pets often require to thrive in their golden years. Puppy Care & Training: I thrive on consistency and positive reinforcement. I am highly capable of maintaining the firm but gentle boundaries, frequent potty breaks, and structured play that young pets need while they are still learning their manners. Whether your pet needs quiet, gentle companionship or structured, engaging play, I have the experience, reliability, and heart to provide care that is perfectly tailored to them. I believe in complete transparency regarding my schedule so you know exactly when your pet is receiving my undivided attention: Summer Hours (Now – August): I am currently working a shorter schedule and am fully available for walks, drop-ins, and playtime every day after 1:30 PM. Fall Hours (Starting in September): I will be working my regular full-time schedule until 4:00 PM. However, my evenings will be completely open and dedicated to after-work walks, dinner routines, and evening companionship! I look forward to meeting your best friend and providing them with the highest level of care! I know firsthand that leaving your furry family members can be stressful. My goal is to provide a safe, engaging, and loving environment so you can have complete peace of mind while you are away. I treat every animal in my care with the exact same affection and attentiveness I give my own. My Experience I have been surrounded by pets my entire life, which has given me a deep, intuitive understanding of the daily care, patience, and affection animals require. For the past 8 years, I have been the trusted, go-to pet sitter for my neighbors and extended family. This hands-on experience has taught me how to adapt to different temperaments, respect established household rules, and quickly recognize when a pet might be feeling anxious. As a special education teacher, patience, compassion, and structure are at the core of who I am—and I bring those same qualities into how I care for your pets.

About: I’ve been privileged to grow up with dogs since I was a little girl. We rescued Katie, our beloved 11-year-old dog, when she was a puppy. She’s such an important part of our family and brings so much joy. Following years of being a preschool teacher, I’ve been a dog walker for a decade, which has allowed me to share my love for dogs with other families. As part of my dog walking career, I also gained experience taking care of a diabetic dog. Please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’d love to meet your adoring pet! I’m an empty nester and available every day during the week to walk and take care of your pet. I can also help out on most weekends. If I have never cared for your pet before, I’d come to your house to meet you and your pet and discuss your expectations and learn about your furry family member. Whether you’re looking for someone to provide food, exercise, playtime, medication or just caring company, I’m happy to help.
About: I’ve always had a deep love and respect for animals, and spending time with cats/dogs is something that genuinely brings me joy. Pet sitting and walking allows me to combine my passion for pets with the opportunity to help others care for their furry family members. Whether it’s making sure your cat/pup gets enough exercise, providing companionship while you’re away, or simply giving them some extra love and attention, I take the responsibility seriously and treat every pet as if they were my own. I understand that every pet has their own personality and needs, and I’m committed to creating a safe, fun, and comforting environment for them. I enjoy the outdoors, staying active, and connecting with animals, which makes dog walking the perfect fit for me. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Wheat Sheaf
Seana was our first rover sitter and made the entire trip seamless and peaceful. Her communication was prompt, professional and left us feeling secure that we left our pets in the best hands possible. From the first message about potential meet and greets to the daily check-in’s she was wonderful. We will be using her again when we need a sitter as she was extremely trustworthy and kind to our boys!

Debbie was so accommodating and super attentive to all of Leo’s needs and care. She asked detailed and informative questions that would help her and Leo during our time away. We have no complaints and would definitely recommend Debs services and we’re looking forward to using her services in the future :)

Julie was great, she kept my cats litter box and feeding area very clean and made sure to always top off their water. She was very communicative with timing of her visits and she was nice enough to bring in all my packages and mail. I hope to use her again for Christmas!
Sarah did a wonderful job caring for my two munchkins. Both of my cats are senior and the oldest, who is 17 and takes insulin LOVED HER. She was super attentive, thorough, on time, and I loved the after visit summaries that she left. I will most definitely recommend her service and hire again. Thank you Sarah for taking such wonderful care of them.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone.
