“Shirley did an amazing job caring for my 9 chickens and my dog, Lily. I have never left them in the care of someone new before and she spent the time getting to know them, and know the routine, followed all the steps everyday, and truly put my mind at ease with photos and notes about their day. She was flexible with time, great with communication, and above all else took great care of all my animals. Highly recommend and will book again. 💕”

“Jessica has been doing recurring drop in visits for boy. Can't recommend her enough! She is great with him. Very responsive and flexible with time if change is needed. She always gives great updates for each visit. Thank you Jessica!”

“Sarah provided excellent care taking care of our pet while on vacation. Our area was flooded while we were gone, and Sarah found a way to still make it here to feed Barney. Very responsible and gave us daily updates with pics. Would highly recommend her to care for your pet.”

“Michael helped us out on short notice and cared for our 2 elderly cats while we were away for a week. He was very professional, sending photos and communicating both AM and PM each day. It did a lot to assure me that my girls were ok while we were gone. My girls were not very social as this was their first time with a sitter, but they were healthy and happy upon our return.”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats since I was a kid of multiple breeds. I have learned that the best way to care for a pet is to make sure they are happy, healthy, and loved! I’m currently working from home and spend most of my time at home with my dog Rocco! My schedule is very flexible so I get to take my dog out often and would love the opportunity to spend time with even more pups and cats. I have a fenced yard, a cage, and I keep a close eye on the pets that I am caring for. I treat every pet as if it’s my own and make sure they have water at all times and access to bathroom as needed.
“Amanda did a great job watching our Tucker overnight and with a drop in visit while we were out another night. This was the first time we used Rover and the first time we left our puppy in the care of someone else. Amanda made us feel comfortable, accommodated all of our requests, and kept us updated with texts and pictures the whole time we were away. Tucker had a great time with her! I would definitely recommend her and plan to use her again!!”

Experience: Throughout my life, I’ve nurtured and cared for several dogs, each with their own special quirks and requirements. I’m experienced in handling a range of breeds, temperaments, and age groups. My recent 18-year journey with my senior dog has especially equipped me to understand the gentle care and patience needed for older pets. Services Offered: • Daily walks (with a keen sense for your dog’s preferred pace and distance) • Feeding and medication administration, if required • Regular updates and photos to assure you of your pet’s well-being • Lots of love, play, and attention • Experience in caring for senior dogs Closing Note: I’m excited to meet your furry family member and provide them with the same warmth and affection that’s been a cornerstone of my life. Your dog’s happiness and safety will always be my top priority! Pet care is an integral and cherished part of my daily routine. Since I’m retired, I have the flexibility and time to dedicate to the pets I care for. My days are structured around ensuring that the dogs in my care receive all the attention and activity they need. Morning: My day typically starts with a morning walk, which I find is a great way to help the dogs get some fresh air and exercise first thing in the day. It’s also a peaceful time for them to explore and enjoy the quieter hours. Midday: Throughout the day, I ensure they have plenty of playtime, whether it’s in the backyard or inside with toys. I’m always attentive to their need for interaction and mental stimulation. Afternoon: In the afternoon, we usually go for another walk. This is a longer one, where we can explore local parks or walking trails, allowing the dogs to experience new sights and smells. Evening: As the day winds down, I focus on quieter activities like cuddling or gentle play, ensuring the dogs are calm and relaxed. Evening is also the time for dinner and any needed medications. Night: Before bedtime, there’s a short walk or a quick backyard visit, so the dogs are comfortable through the night. Throughout the day, I’m attentive to the dogs’ needs for food, water, and bathroom breaks. I also ensure they have a comfortable and safe space to rest. Being home most of the day allows me to provide constant companionship and supervision, ensuring that the dogs in my care are not just looked after, but also loved and cherished. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Yellowood
Peggy is the best sitter ever! She is an absolute lifesaver, and my cats love her so much. She follows all instructions exactly as given and goes above and beyond to make sure my cats are well cared for. She is reliable, attentive, and genuinely caring, which gives me so much peace of mind whenever I’m away. I couldn’t ask for a better sitter, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone they can fully trust with their pets. Peggy is truly the best!

Shirley was wonderful. She provided updates each day she was here. She came when Anne was going to and she provided us multiple pictures each day of our doggie and kitty cats. I knew they were in good hands with Shirley while we were away. Thanks so much. I definitely recommend using Shirley and would use her again for future trips.
She was super professional and friendly, and she did a great job following our instructions. She kept us updated all day and sent plenty of photos, which made us feel really happy and relaxed while we were away. Very pleased with Morgan, we highly recommend her.

This was our first time using Alexa and she was wonderful!! Our kitties really liked her and followed her around everywhere. I could tell by the many pictures that our cats were super comfortable with her and enjoyed play time. She also went her way to accommodate our picky eater cat 😻 We felt comfortable being away and will Definitely use her in the future!!

I have had several good Rover sitters. None compare to Kendyl. You will see when you meet her that she is a warm, genuine person who exudes love for pets. She was the only catsitter that my cat ran to when she came in. She showed up on time. She carried out my many directions. She gave my cat medicine. Her photos of my cat were reassuring. When I got home, after almost two weeks, everything looked exactly as it did when I left—clean! I have an unfathomable, indescribable love for my cat. He is at least 17, with vulnerable health. I hate leaving him. I worry about him. I had Kendyl come three times a day. Thanks to her, I had peace of mind that contributed a wonderful vacation with my son. If you need a sitter, reach out to her right away. She has high demand for her reasonably priced service. Thank you, Kendyl!
Michael came by for a meet-and-greet before our upcoming trip, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He took the time to go through our care instructions, walked the dogs, learned their feeding routine, and patiently listened to all the little quirks that come with our two bull terriers. The best part was how quickly our dogs warmed up to him. They’re usually a great judge of character, and they were comfortable with him almost immediately, which gave us a lot of confidence. Michael is friendly, professional, attentive, and genuinely seems to care about the animals he looks after. After meeting him, we’re leaving for our trip feeling much more relaxed knowing our two clown bull terriers will be in such good hands. We highly recommend him!

Debbie was so accommodating and super attentive to all of Leo’s needs and care. She asked detailed and informative questions that would help her and Leo during our time away. We have no complaints and would definitely recommend Debs services and we’re looking forward to using her services in the future :)

Julie was great, she kept my cats litter box and feeding area very clean and made sure to always top off their water. She was very communicative with timing of her visits and she was nice enough to bring in all my packages and mail. I hope to use her again for Christmas!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
