“Kimberly did an excellent job watching our pup while we were away for the day. We were able to enjoy our trip because we knew our little girl was in good hands. We highly recommended Kimberly! 🐾💖🐾”

“I don't know what I would do without Bill!! Right on time, plays with the dogs and he truly cares about them!! Lets me know everyday that all is good and sends pictures....which, when you are on vacation is the only text you really don't mind getting!!”

“Shirley is an absolute pleasure to work with. She took care of our cat for four days, sent adorable pictures each time and looked out for us by telling us about icy road and etc. Our cat loved her the most, and we're definitely looking forward to working again with her. ♥️”

About: I've spent the last 15 years caring for dogs of every size - from tiny lap dogs to larger breeds - while regularly sitting and walking my parents' pups. I know that a Great Dane and a Chihuahua need very different things, and I'm comfortable handling both with confidence and patience. I'm also experienced with cats: when my sister and her family spent 10 days in Italy, I came by twice a day to feed their two cats and keep their litter box clean, so their pets never missed a beat while they were away. For the last 4 years, I've owned Hiro, a Shiba Inu rescue from the SPCA; he's wonderful with other dogs, but is reactive and distrustful of strangers. Through consistent basic and behavioral training, I've learned firsthand how to read stress signals, manage triggers, and build trust with a dog who needs a little extra patience - skills I bring to every pet I care for, reactive or not. Living with Hiro has taught me a level of attentiveness and calm energy that I think any pet parent would want in a walker and drop-in. Whether your pup is a laid-back senior, a bouncy puppy, or has their own quirks and triggers, I'll treat them like family. I'm reliable, communicative, and happy to send photo/status updates so you can relax knowing your pet is in good hands. Weekends (Fridays-Sundays): Available anytime. Weekdays (Mondays-Thursdays): - Mornings: 06:30 until 07:30 -Evenings: 19:30 until 21:30 Weekends (Fri-Sun) I am usually free all day with the exception of some personal appointments on Fridays. On weekdays (Mon-Thurs), I'm available for early morning visits (06:30-07:30) or evening visits (19:30-21:30) - great for shift workers, healthcare professions, or anyone with early/late schedules! Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priority. I treat every animal in my care as if they were my own - following your routines, feeding schedules, and any special instructions closely, and never leaving anything to guesswork. My approach is calm and structured, which comes naturally raising Hiro, my reactive Shiba Inu; I'm well practiced in reading stress signals, giving pets space when they need it, and creating a secure, low-stress environment for animals of all temperaments. I communicate openly and often, with photo and text updates so you always know how your pet is doing. Whether I'm in your home for a drop-in, or taking them for a walk, I make sure the environment is secure, hazard-free, and set up for your pet to feel relaxed. You can trust that your dog or cat will be safe, comfortable, and genuinely cared for.
“Caitlyn is great! Very quick responses, set up a meet and greet within a day, and was on time and sent pictures for each visit. Would for sure book again and probably will for our next vacation! Highly recommended”

About: I’ve had animals in my life since I was 7 years old, so caring for pets has always been a big part of who I am! I’m 23 now and have plenty of experience taking care of animals independently, from meeting their daily needs to making sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved. I have trained puppies and taken care of kittens, and I've also taken care of elderly cats and dogs. As an occupational therapy student, I’ve developed strong empathy, patience, and an understanding that everyone has different needs and personalities. I bring that same approach to animals by paying attention to their individual needs, respecting their routines, and helping them feel at ease. I’ll treat your pets like family and make sure they receive plenty of love, attention, and care while you’re away! As an occupational therapy student working toward my doctorate, I have a busy but flexible schedule that allows me to make time for pet care. I am available after classes and on my days off, which gives me opportunities to provide pets with the attention, care, and companionship they deserve. I am organized and responsible when balancing my schoolwork with other commitments, and I can work with pet owners to find times that fit both of our schedules. I look forward to making pet sitting a rewarding part of my routine while providing reliable, loving care for your pets! When caring for pets in their own home, I make sure to follow their usual routines to help them feel comfortable and stress-free while their owners are away. I will follow all instructions regarding feeding, fresh water, walks, litter box cleaning, playtime, and any other specific needs. I also make sure to give each pet plenty of attention, affection, and patience while respecting their individual personalities and boundaries. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pets, so I prioritize their well being and make sure owners feel confident that their pets are in loving, responsible hands. I am also happy to provide updates and photos so you can see how your furry family member is doing.

About: I had a multiple dogs growing up, one who is 11 years old now, and also just became a new Fur Mom to an 8 month old golden retriever (who has put me through the wringer so far). I am an animal lover and just want to be helpful since I use rover myself for sitters, and i figured I’d be just as helpful as the many sitters on here have been for me!! I work full time but that is just 3 days a week, so any other day I am available most of the day to accommodate your fur babies! My schedule does change every week though I live in an apartment complex but have access to a dog park within the complex and will be able to take your pups to local dog parks as well
About: Our journey as a professional pet sitter began 3 years ago, and since then we loved it! We are experienced in providing care and love to a variety breeds, sizes and ages of the fur babies. Our furry guests will have the privileges of enjoying the gentle care along with the routine walks, bonding activities and musical entertainment in a clean and affectionate home. I am a stay-at-home mom so my schedule is pretty flexible for watching your fur babies. If I need to go out and run errands, I take the furry guests with me. We have 2 caged-in bunnies, and it's quite a surprise that they are not afraid of dogs! The bunnies can be relocated to upstairs if needed. Your fur babies will have supervised play in the backyard, and we always make sure to keep our house organized for safety reason. Please let us know your instructions from the vet for any special needs.
“Could not be happier with the care Josh put into his time with our dog, Dale. Dale can be a bit overwhelming to some guests, but Josh handled him perfectly. He sent great pictures during his visits and his communication with us was also great. We look forward to using Josh again in the future. We know Dale can’t wait to see him again!”

I am currently working 3 days a week from home and home most weekends and holidays to play and care for your pet as well as have a very flexible schedule to fit your needs. I have a huge fenced in yard to run and play. My dog loves to sit outside as well and enjoy the sun and watching people walking and cars going by.
“I recently had the pleasure of hiring Diane to check in on our dog, Riley, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. From the moment we met, Diane demonstrated a genuine love for animals and a high level of professionalism. She was in tune with Riley’s needs and followed all the instructions we provided for feeding, watering and caring for Riley. Diane sent photos and an update from her check in visit which gave us peace of mind, knowing Riley was in good hands. I highly recommend Diane Hanna to anyone in need of a reliable, caring, and professional dog sitter. Thank you Diane for taking such good care of Riley!”

“Morgan was professional, dependable, and an excellent communicator. She showed my cats a lot of love and affection, and took excellent photos of them which helped me feel comfortable leaving my beloved kitties in her care. She kept the home tidy and cleaned up after the pets as well. She went above and beyond by bringing in packages and doing an extra personal favor to help out when requested. I would highly recommend her!”

“Yuliia is the best! Our dogs love her after only two visits. When we say auntie Julia now, they run to the door wagging thinking she is already there. She is very commubicarive and thoughtful”

“It was such a comfort to have Heather take care of my kitties. She watered my Mom's flowers, took in the mail and provided daily updates and pictures. I'll definitely hire her again!”

“From the first visit to the last set of photos, Tina has been absolutely amazing. This was the first time I’d been away from the cats for more than two days, so I was a bit worried. The first pictures Tina sent were her and the cats playing/nuzzling. I was able to rest easy, knowing that I’d get my daily pictures, and that the kitties were happy. I will be using her again next time I go on vacation.”

She was super professional and friendly, and she did a great job following our instructions. She kept us updated all day and sent plenty of photos, which made us feel really happy and relaxed while we were away. Very pleased with Morgan, we highly recommend her.

This was our first time using Alexa and she was wonderful!! Our kitties really liked her and followed her around everywhere. I could tell by the many pictures that our cats were super comfortable with her and enjoyed play time. Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
