“Manuel is awesome! He took great care of Harley and is a great communicator. He is super friendly and you can tell he loves dogs. I look forward to leaving Harley with him next time.”

“Great communication. Sent pics and video which we appreciated since it was our dogs first time with her. Dog came home tired which means he was kept active 😀. We booked for Xmas Eve. It was great to have the option for just daycare so our pup was home with us that night and for Xmas morning.”

“Andrew is top rated for a reason! Totally worth the cost. He’s got a great space perfect for a dog to free roam and family all committed to the care of your little one. Professional, accommodating, attentive, and great with updates / communication. New to the area and was nervous leaving my little one with a new care giver for an extended period for work travel. Andrew gave me tons of peace of mind. Definitely recommend!”

“Eunice was so great with Mocha. He’s a senior so he needs a little more care and attention and Eunice had a great handle on it. He looked like he had such a great time!”
“A wonderful experience! Communication was excellent (including photos and videos). Doug has created a calm, well thought out space that can accommodate multiple dogs - including ways to give dogs their own space if needed. Thank you!”

“Yuberkis took such great care of my sweet Boy!! She provided pictures and videos throughout the day, which I really appreciated. I will definitely be booking with her again.”

“Darien was amazing with my dog Mia! She sent so many pictures and Mia seemed instantly comfortable with Darien and her husband. 10/10 would recommend Darien and will be using her again!”

“Tammy was great with our Pup Macy!! She accepted her on short notice (thank you) & kept me updated on how Macy was doing throughout the day! Will definitely be using Tammy again ☺️”

About: I’ve taken care of mine and my family’s dogs for the last three years, and already have a spacious home with a backyard set up for them. I provide constant attention and support to them since I am retired. I am a retired teacher, so I am always home to take care of your furry friend. My schedule is very flexible, perfect to accommodate your pet. I have a fenced in yard, and live very close to a lark park with a fenced-in dog park. I have a four year old chiweenie who gets along with all dogs and cats, and is very quiet. Gidget will be happy to have a friend to play with!
“I was so nervous to drop off my newly rescued small Chiweenie and Geoff and Jenny did such a good job caring for him with so much love. Super friendly and accommodating. I can’t wait for him to go back to another doggy daycare day!”

“Did an awesome job with Tormi! Was super courteous and let me see where my dog was going to be and was excellent about keeping me updated! Super responsible and communicative as well. I will definitely have him continue watching my gal :)”

“Megan is the best! My dog is definitely not the simplest dog to take care of, but she made sure my dog felt super comfortable and happy. She sent me plenty of photos to keep me updated and made sure to ask all the right questions to make sure my dog was well taken care of. Genuinely the best dog sitting experience I’ve had!”

About: I spent the past 4 years running a successful dog-watching business in NYC with my partner. We have since relocated to Northern NJ and intend to provide the same high quality services for pets here. I grew up with animals - dogs, rabbits, birds, mice, turtles and fish. I would’ve had cats too if members of my family weren’t so allergic. As a teen I volunteered with friends at our local animal shelter and chose to work with the cat population because most of the volunteers wanted to walk the dogs. Most recently I trained my own dog - starting from when she was 6 weeks old. I used a combination of training techniques (including crate training) to successfully potty-train her, teach her to walk on a leash and eventually teach her to hike and run together off-leash. My dog is now 3 years old and I bring her to my grandmother’s assisted living facility. She interacts with and plays appropriately with other dogs, pets, adults and children of all ages. She is a secure dog and adaptable to any environment. I believe my dog’s calm and friendly demeanor is a direct reflection of my skills. I’m prepared to handle dogs across the spectrum of sizes and energy levels. I live close to many beautiful parks and trails, some with dedicated areas for dog-play. I will closely follow any instructions you have for feeding, exercising, sleeping and socializing your precious pet. I work part-time from home and set my own schedule so I am able to dedicate the appropriate time and attention to your pet easily. I will treat your pet like part of my family if they stay with me. I have a very calming presence that animals seem to react really well too. I am happy to watch your pet at your place if that works best. I provide an engaging, safe environment no matter the location.
“I wish I could gatekeep but it would t be right to other dog parents! Both were amazing with my two big dogs. Even my anxious younger one was treated with patience and kindness until he warmed up. Definitely will be booking again. Thanks Myah and Breanna, you both were great. 😊”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - West Orange
I couldn't have asked for a better first Rover experience! We just moved to the area, and my dog, Jinx, began to bark when left alone. I was nervous about leaving her with someone new for the first time (she is 13 and has never been left in a new environment). This was a last-minute booking, and it couldn't have gone better. Jinx was so comfortable from the start, and it was clear she received so much love and attention. The sitter and her son spent time cuddling with her, and she looked genuinely happy and relaxed. Knowing she was so well cared for gave me complete peace of mind. I would absolutely book with them again!

Doug is excellent with my anxious senior dog. He is very communicative and makes sure my dog is well cared for. My dog has separation anxiety and it’s been great having a place for my dog to go and socialize/spend time outdoors in the back yard. My dog even spent the night once and did great. I highly recommend Doug!

Megan is the best! My dog is definitely not the simplest dog to take care of, but she made sure my dog felt super comfortable and happy. She sent me plenty of photos to keep me updated and made sure to ask all the right questions to make sure my dog was well taken care of. Genuinely the best dog sitting experience I’ve had!

Darien is incredible! Right off the bat when we first met her we got an excellent first impression. She will care for your pet like her own. Kind, compassionate and loving toward our dog. Darien is very flexible and reliable, which made our Thanksgiving gathering less stressful for the day. Thank you Darien for making life a bit easier during the Holidays!

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
