About: Hi! We are Alyssa and Michael :) We are both huge animal lovers and treat every pet like they’re our own. We’ve been caring for animals for years, especially dogs and cats, but alyssa also has experience with fish, rabbits, and birds. Alyssa used to work for a professional dog-walking company, Thumping Tails, where she worked with 50+ families, handling everything from walks and feedings to cleaning up, playtime, and just giving pets the attention they need while their owners are away. Even after leaving, a lot of those families have stayed in touch and still trust me with their pets, which means a lot to me. I’m happy to provide references if needed! We are both very comfortable with all kinds of dogs and have worked with different breeds (small to large, you name it), from puppies to seniors, varying energy levels, and even pets with disabilities or special needs. We both also have experience giving medications when needed. We are both cat owners ourselves, so we totally get that every cat has their own personality. We’ve worked with friendly cats, shy ones, and the “I’ll come to you when I’m ready” types. I’m very patient and make sure they feel safe and comfortable. We both offer walks (quick, short, or long), drop-ins, playtime, and can even help with pet socialization if that’s something you’re looking for. Right now we are not offering boarding, but we both have experience with house sitting through both freelance work and my previous company. I work from home running my pet wipes brand, so I'm available throughout the day. I only make trips to the post office once a day, but otherwise I'm home with my dog (who is energetic and loves playing with other dogs). This means I can provide consistent attention and supervision for any pets in my care. I create a safe environment by removing any objects that dogs could chew on and only providing durable, indestructible toys with no loose pieces. I always supervise dogs closely and stay in the same room with them to ensure their safety and wellbeing at all times.

About: I grew up working as a farmhand in Texas, which means I've been mucking stalls, wrangling animals, and figuring out what creatures need before I could drive. That foundation never left me. Years later, while finishing my doctorate, I lived and worked on a goat farm — because apparently I can't stay away from animals even when I'm supposed to be writing. No gatekeeping, no judgment, just attentive, knowledgeable care tailored to your specific creature and their specific personality. I've been pet parent to dogs of all sizes, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes to my current Sheepadoodle — there's no dog size or personality that's too much or too little, IMHO. I also happen to share my home with a ball python named Fettuccine Alfredo 🐍, who is distinguished, low-drama, and an absolute joy to know. I'm also a serious plant person. Pet care fits naturally into the rhythm of my week. My mornings are consistently free, which works well for walks and drop-in visits, and I have full flexibility on Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends for longer stays or housesitting. On days when I'm teaching in the afternoons and evenings, I'm still available in the mornings — and I keep my schedule intentionally manageable so I'm never stretched too thin across clients. This isn't something I'm squeezing in around a packed schedule — it's something I've made genuine room for. When I'm in your home for drop-in visits or housesitting, I treat it with the same care and attention I'd give my own. That means following your routines exactly as you've set them, keeping things tidy, and making sure your pets are comfortable and unstressed in their own environment. I take detailed notes at meet-and-greets so nothing gets missed while you're away. On walks, I keep dogs leashed and attentive to their individual energy and needs — a reactive dog gets a very different walk than a social butterfly, and I know the difference. I bring over thirty years of animal experience to reading body language and behavior, so I'm not caught off guard by much. My own home includes a ball python and two cats, so I'm well practiced in managing a multi-species household safely and calmly. I don't offer boarding, which means your dog's visit to my home would only ever be for a meet-and-greet in a low-key, relaxed setting. In any situation that feels off — health, behavior, anything — I err on the side of contacting you immediately and getting to a vet if needed. You'll never be left guessing.

I currently work remotely on a part-time basis which affords me the flexibility to be available to care for your pet/pets. I have a car so I can easily get to/from your home.
