Katie went about and beyond when watching Bailey and also checked in on our chickens and cats and helped give us some piece of mind while we were on vacation.

She was great with sending updates of my dog. She also picked up all my dogs toys and put them away for me so the house looked cleaner then I left it after a very long day.

Sharon is absolutely WONDERFUL! She was able to accommodate a last minute request to care for Nala. Nala is a high anxiety dog and I always worry when I have to leave her. She immediately came up to Sharon during the initial meeting and showed no anxiety. Sharon let me know how my dog was doing and her behavior. Sharon was on time and provided excellent communication. 100% recommend Sharon.

Al and Laura are wonderful with our super anxious dog Pepper. They are sweet and patient with her, and she has warmed up to both of them quickly just being with them on their walks while we are at work. She gets to spend the long weekend with them and I am absolutely sure she will be in wonderful hands and will have a great time with them and their sweet pups!

Krista was an absolute lifesaver for our family! We hired her to walk my mom’s dog after my mom injured herself in a fall. From our very first text exchange, Krista was incredibly warm, kind, and responsive. My mom absolutely loved her, and so did her dog, Millie. Krista was always on time, dependable, and wonderful with Millie. It gave our whole family such peace of mind knowing Millie was in such good hands. We are so grateful we found Krista and can’t wait to use her again. ❤️

About: It can be stressful leaving your dog behind, and we understand that first hand. We help alleviate any fears and treat your dog as a member of our family. We have two dogs of our own and know how important it is for us to know they are treated well whether we leave them with someone else or if someone stops in for care. We appreciate the trust our clients have in us and understand the immense responsibility whether your dogs are left with us or if we are granted access to your home. We have a house with large fenced in yard for play time with our little pack. For drop in visits, we make sure your dog feels comfortable in their own environment and gets the love and attention they may be missing during your absence. We love play time, but cuddle time is a favorite around here!

About: I am new to the Raleigh area! I have had a love for dogs my whole life and I really want to create a helpful business around dog walking and drop in visits. I love helping people and if I can provide peace of mind that makes me happy and you as well. I have taken care of most of my families dogs since I was 14. Friends and family have relied on me to feed, walk, babysit there dogs when they go out of town. I am part time right now for work. So I have a lot of availability for drop ins and walks so it makes it really easy for me to care for my dog and other dogs. I am currently part time so I have lots of time for drop in visits and walks. It makes it easy for you and me. I can help with your dog and still be around for mine. I have a mini sheepadoodle that is super friendly and loves to play. I have water out for him and any dogs I watch. Lots of toys too!

About: I’m an experienced and lifelong animal caregiver with a strong background in caring for dogs and cats of all sizes, ages, and personalities. I grew up around dogs and have raised multiple pets from puppy and kitten stages through adulthood, giving me a solid understanding of animal behavior, socialization, and daily care needs. I have extensive hands-on experience with large-breed dogs, including my 150 lb Labrador, who I trained in obedience, leash manners, and routines through consistent, positive-based training methods. I also have a mini Dachshund, so I’m comfortable with small breeds, their unique personalities, and their care needs as well. In addition to dogs, I care for two one-eyed cats, which has built my experience with special-needs pets requiring extra patience, attentive care, and gentle handling. I’m comfortable with feeding routines, litter maintenance, medication assistance if needed, enrichment activities, and creating a calm, loving environment for cats of all temperaments — including shy or anxious pets. I prioritize safety, comfort, routine, and affection to make every pet feel secure and loved in my care. Whether it’s walks, playtime, enrichment, training reinforcement, or extra cuddles, I adapt to each pet’s personality and needs to ensure they feel at home while you’re away. Because I attend school part-time and complete most of my coursework from home, I have a very flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets I care for. I’m able to be home throughout the day, which means more consistent supervision, playtime, walks, and companionship for your pets — not just quick check-ins. My routine gives me the ability to accommodate morning, mid-day, and evening care, with availability for overnight stays, extended visits, and last-minute needs. I’m able to adjust my schoolwork around pet care, ensuring your pets receive reliable, steady attention and a calm, loving environment. My home is set up to provide a safe, calm, and welcoming space for the pets I care for. I have gated-off areas both inside and outside, which allows me to separate pets when needed for comfort, feeding, rest time, or safety. This setup is especially helpful for pets who prefer their own space, are shy, or need a slower introduction to others. I also have friendly pets in the home who are used to being around other animals, but introductions are always done carefully and based on what is best for your pet. Whether your pet enjoys social time with others or prefers a quiet, private space, I can accommodate their needs. Your pet will have a secure environment, plenty of supervised time, and a comfortable area where they can relax stress-free — just like home.

About: I genuinely love all dogs, and pugs hold a special place in my heart! I own two! Their unique personalities and affectionate nature make them such a joy to care for. That said, I enjoy spending time with dogs of every breed, age, and size from playful puppies to wise senior dogs. What sets me apart is my patience, attention to detail, and ability to connect with animals on their level. I have experience with basic training for puppies, administering medications to senior dogs, and giving each pet the individualized care they deserve. Whether it’s cuddle time, walks, play, or helping with training, I treat every dog as if they were my own. I am an animal lover. I’m currently working a part-time job with a very flexible schedule that I can decide, making me available to watch your pups any day of the week! Whether in your home or mine, your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I follow their routine closely, provide a calm and clean environment, and make sure they feel secure and loved. I’m attentive, trustworthy, and always happy to give updates so you can feel at ease while you’re away.

We’ve had several dog sitters/walkers over the years and Cindy is by far the best. Sage is a true chow chow and can be very particular about people and handling. Cindy was very patient with her and gave her the space she needed to adjust. Sage always barked when Cindy arrived while wagging her tail, she responded well to treats and commands and enjoyed her walks with Cindy. We really lucked out in finding Cindy and are very grateful for her care of Sage.

  • 90% of walkers can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
