“Catriona has been looking after my staffie, once a week for a while now & I can’t recommend her enough! Communication is great, and Catriona always helps out when she can, even on last minute requests. Ultimately I know my 12 year old pooch is in safe hands when Catriona is looking after her! Thank you for being so reliable & we look forward to seeing you next week x”

“Alison looked after my dog for a few hours in my home. She was super flexible leading up to the booking as my plans changed a couple of times. Zola was well looked after and I had a couple of text updates through the evening to keep me posted on how she was doing. Will definitely book her again to care foe my dog.”

“Michelle was a great help for me recently. I’d booked a day for dog sitting in my home in advance, but also unexpectedly needed help the day before. Michelle managed to move some things around to assist, which was much appreciated. She sent regularly updates during the day & I could tell Mya was being well looked after & getting all the fuss & cuddles that she’s a big fan of. Thanks Michelle, will definitely book again!”

“Absolutely amazing. Tofu fell in love on the meet and greet visit! Cyan sent me updates daily with pictures and took really good care of Tofu and my flat. Would definitely book again. ”

I take caring for pets very seriously and provide them with safety, care and affection while you're away. I am a uni student, so I have plenty of time to look after your pets outside of my studies. I am quite flexible. I am able to look after pets on some weekdays, evenings and weekends, and I am available full-time outside of term time. I didn’t know Alison before my trip away, but I had read all the reviews, which were excellent. I have a 17 year old Cavachon, who I rescued 4 and half years ago. I was worried about leaving her, but once I met Alison, I knew my girl was in very safe hands. Alison took exceptional care of my little dog and she kept me updated with how she was doing. When I got home my house was spotless. I would absolutely recommend Alison - she is a very kind person and my little dog loved her.

Second time Ashley has sat for us and he did wonderfully. The two dogs were very well looked after and felt right at home with him. Ashley gave us lots of pictures and updates throughout and had great communication. He handled all the dogs needs and they both looked out the window as he left! Our house was kept very clean and tidy and had no issues. Thank you again Ashley, would happily rebook and highly recommend!

Lydia was such a great find. We have never used a boarder in our house before so was a little apprehensive but from the moment we met I knew my dog was in safe hands. Great communication, trust worthy, a very settled dog and super tidy house guest. Would highly recommend and will be using again

From the moment Lee came to our house Harvey our dog took to him straight away. You can tell Lee has an affinity for dogs. Halfway through the evening Lee sent us a photo of Harvey resting on him which is something our sometimes aloof dog will not do. So that was very nice to see. Would highly recommend Lee.

Laura was amazing. She has in depth knowledge of English Bulldogs and took great care of our boy whilst we were away. We received daily updates and pictures and an end of week review. We came home home to a very healthy looking and very happy dog. I would 100% recommend Laura without hesitation and we will certainly rebook next year for our holidays.

Charley stayed in our house and watched our Todd for 3 days, she did a fantastic job, walked him spent plenty of time with him and left our house spotless. We will definitely use Charley again she put us at ease leaving her in our home and looking after our little dog. Highly recommend if your looking for a reliable, respectable and caring young lady to watch your animals 😀

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Rochford walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Rochford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 82% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
