About: I've had dogs of varying breeds my whole life, and so I'm comfortable looking after any dog. I regularly look after dogs for friends and family with the help of my friendly Cavapoo, Nellie. I treat all dogs like I would my own, with full access to the house and garden and a lot of love. I love walking and so am always keen to exercise dogs and give them a rewarding day. I work from home three days a week (Tues/Weds/Thurs) and so can be flexible throughout the week as well as on weekends. Dogs fit into our lives seemlessly and so we are always happy to have them in the house. I have a fenced garden and a friendly Cavapoo, Nellie who is always happy to share toys and keep dogs company whilst with us. I treat other's dogs as if they were my own; with a lot of love, attention and walks.

About: I have many years of experience in caring for dogs both through having my own dogs and regularly caring for those of friends and families. My house is really welcoming to other dogs and a safe place for them to come and stay. My labrador Alba is as chilled as they come and we enjoy some lovely daily walks in the surrounding area. Recently semi retired so primarily based at home. Will get out for a walk every day and love to interact with dogs throughout too. All people living in house are dog lovers. I have a fenced garden and a super friendly 9 year old lab for added companionship. I enjoy getting out daily for walks. The house is a busy one with 3 teenage children, all who have been brought up around dogs.

About: I have recently completed my final year studying Animal Management at university, where I’ve gained a strong understanding of dog behaviour, training, health, and welfare. This allows me to provide more than just basic care—I can recognise body language, support positive behaviour, and tailor each dog’s routine to suit their individual needs. I have experience caring for dogs of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments, including more nervous or anxious dogs who may need extra patience and reassurance. I’m also confident reinforcing basic training such as lead manners and general obedience during their stay if needed. Another key difference is that your dog will rarely ever be left alone. Between me and my partner, someone is typically always home, so your dog will have constant supervision, companionship, and attention throughout the day. We are also both insured outside of Rover! I also provide a calm, spacious home environment and keep my bookings limited to a maximum of 2 dogs (as long as both owners are informed and have agreed prior), so each dog receives focused care rather than being one of many. Combined with regular updates and photos, I aim to give owners complete peace of mind while their dog is with me. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I work in the pub downstairs (Thursday-Saturday evenings - can change depending on your booking!), but between me and my partner, one of us is always at home—so your dog will never be left alone. This allows me to provide consistent supervision, regular walks, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. I’m also able to be flexible with routines, whether your dog prefers early walks, multiple shorter outings, or a more relaxed schedule. Because I’m in my final year of studying Animal Management, pet care is a central part of my lifestyle, not just something I do occasionally. Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I provide a calm, secure, and spacious home environment in our private upstairs living area, away from noise and distractions. I always take the time to understand each dog’s routine, behaviour, and any specific needs before their stay. With my background in Animal Management, I’m confident reading dog body language, managing different temperaments, and ensuring a safe, stress-free environment. I keep bookings limited so each dog receives plenty of attention and space. I also carefully manage introductions and interactions if there are multiple dogs, always prioritising safety. Regular updates and photos are provided so you can feel confident and reassured while your dog is in my care.

About: I’ve grown up around cats and dogs from a young age, so caring for pets has always been a natural part of my life. I’m very comfortable with different personalities, whether that’s an energetic dog who loves long walks and playtime or a quieter cat who prefers a calm, gentle approach. I make sure pets stick to their usual routines for feeding, exercise, and cuddles, and I always treat them as if they were my own. My aim is to make every pet feel safe, relaxed, and happy while their owners are away🐱🐶 I currently work shift patterns so would have to fit caring responsibilities around my days off. I get three days off so have plenty of time available. I live in a second floor flat with loads of outside space around me, so your pet has plenty of chances for nice, long walks.

About: ❤️ Please send me a message before booking to check availability! ❤️ Hey! I’m a total dog lover with lots of experience and a big soft spot for rescue pups! (cats too!) I grew up with my childhood dog for 16 amazing years, and now I’ve got three girls of my own - including two rescues from Spain who had a rough start in life. They’ve taught me so much about patience, love, and how to care for dogs with all kinds of personalities and needs. I also regularly dog sit for a family member 3–4 times a week, and we love heading to the local dog park for a good run and playtime. The more, the merrier! ✔️ Certified in pet first aid 🎓 Just about to complete my Diploma in Pet Sitting & Dog Walking 🐶 Next up: a course in Canine Communication - because I’m all about understanding what your pup needs and making them feel safe, happy, and loved. Whether your dog is super chill or full of beans, I’ll treat them like one of my own. Can’t wait to meet your fur baby! I currently work full time from home, Monday to Friday, which gives me a lot of flexibility! A few times a week, I can pop out for drop in visits to check on your little darling, give cuddles, food, or a quick walk. If your pet needs more company and can’t be left alone, I’m also happy to work remotely from your home - as long as there’s Wi-Fi available! Weekends are very flexible for me too, so I’m usually available for longer stays, walks, or extra playtime. If I’m visiting your home, just give me a heads-up with anything I should know about your furry friend - like their quirks, routines, or any special needs. Also, a few details about your place (like how to get in, alarms, or where the treats are hidden 😉) would be super helpful to make everything go smoothly!

About: Hi there! We’re Leia and Dan, a young couple who loves animals. We’re currently in a flat, so we’re looking to share our space with your furry friends to get a flavour of what it’d be like for us in the future. We live in a comfortable space with a balcony for fresh air throughout the day. Both working hybrid work patterns so one of us will be at home throughout the day to have cuddles, belly rubs and walks. Having grown up with cats, and regularly looked after my parents cats, we know they have their boundaries, but love to have attention (on their terms) and have that perfect chin scratch. When boarding cats, we wouldn’t have the balcony open to ensure they are kept safe. We naturally love to be outside, whether that’s walking or camping. So, if you decide to board your pooch, trust they will be taken on many walks (it keeps us healthy!) to explore local routes. Whether it’s a walk, a day, a weekend, a week, or more, we’re happy to discuss looking after your pet. Both of us work hybrid work patterns so one of us will be at home throughout the day to have cuddles, belly rubs and walks throughout the week. Our weekends change depending on the weather and social plans. Sometimes we stay at home watching movies and playing board games, and other times we like to venture out and explore a new walking routes and stop mid way for a lunch break. So we can accommodate our schedule depending on your pet. We have a balcony for fresh air which we will keep open if we are looking after dogs (and a watchful eye at all times). For cats, we wouldn’t have these open but instead keep our windows ajar so the fresh air can still flow in but they are kept safe. If looking after pets in your home, we take security very seriously. Ensuring that any doors are locked and keys kept safe until you return.

Mia was amazing from the initial interview. Our cat took to her instantly which is unusual as she can be very timid around new people. Mia came round the day before we went on holiday to collect keys and arrived when she said. Our cat loved Mia looking after her and it really put our minds at rest having Mia stay while we were away. I can not praise this you g lady enough. Not only looked after the cat but house too. Will definitely be using her again in the future. Thanks again Mia

We booked Elif at short notice this week to look after our dog Judy. We couldn't have been happier with Elif looking after Judy. She was punctual, professional and above all very caring. We went out for the day for our sons 40th birthday celebration and we were kept up to date with pictures and messages. Judy was very comfortable with Elif who played with her and made a fuss of her. I would have no hesitation in recommending Elif.

Tania is a fantastic sitter, she is responsive and efficient when communicating. We met in person before the sit and she took time to listen to an avalanche of information about our cats and our setup. During the sit Tania was sensitive to how our cats behaved, reading their cues and ensuring they were safe, given play and affection when interested and fresh raw food as needed. I highly recommend Tania and her sitting services.

Hallie did a wonderful job looking after our pup and cat whilst we were away for two weeks. We’ve got an elderly dog and a very shy cat so we were a bit worried about leaving them, but Hallie did a great job of keeping us updated daily and the two barely seemed to miss us when we returned! Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Chelmsford on Rover is £34.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 8,443 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Chelmsford. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Chelmsford walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chelmsford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:

  • 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 85% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
