“Becky is fabulous, my dogs took to her straight away. She checked what level of communication I’d prefer pre stay. Becky fitted in seamlessly and I felt completely at ease with her in charge while I was away 😊”

“Elif looked after our dog Luna for the day while we went to a wedding and she was brilliant. Luna is quite nervous of new people but Elif was really patient with her and took the time to make sure Luna felt comfortable. Luna was very happy and relaxed when we got back and we received several photos throughout the day as well. We'll definitely reach out to Elif for further dog sitting in the future.”

About: I've had dogs of varying breeds my whole life, and so I'm comfortable looking after any dog. I regularly look after dogs for friends and family with the help of my friendly Cavapoo, Nellie. I treat all dogs like I would my own, with full access to the house and garden and a lot of love. I love walking and so am always keen to exercise dogs and give them a rewarding day. I work from home three days a week (Tues/Weds/Thurs) and so can be flexible throughout the week as well as on weekends. Dogs fit into our lives seemlessly and so we are always happy to have them in the house. I have a fenced garden and a friendly Cavapoo, Nellie who is always happy to share toys and keep dogs company whilst with us. I treat other's dogs as if they were my own; with a lot of love, attention and walks.

I’m comfortable caring for different breeds, personalities and routines, and I understand how important it is to make pets feel safe, happy and comfortable while their owners are away. I’m reliable, patient and genuinely love spending time with animals. I work part-time, so I have good flexibility around my working hours. I’ll make sure they’re fed, exercised and given plenty of attention, affection and company. I’m respectful of your home and will always treat your pets as if they were my own, following any specific instructions you leave for their care.

“Tia was so incredibly lovely and our little pup warmed to her completely! It was our first time using Rover and Tia made the experience great and I will definitely be looking to book her again??”

“Giorgina, was great. Felt very comfortable leaving her overnight looking after my Dog and Cat. She kept us nicely updated with pictures, and upon our return the house was spotless. Most importantly our Fur babies looked like they were both really comfortable and had had a good time. Would have no hesitation booking Giorgina again and will do. Eddie”

“It's the first time I've booked Olivia and am very pleased with how it went. Olivia arrived on time, was communicative throughout the booking and my dog and cat were relaxed and calm when I returned. Guidelines were followed and I had no concerns at all. I'd be happy to use Olivia again if the situation arises in the future.”

“Ludivine is a very kind and gentle and trustworthy person and was so wonderful with our 2 dogs! She came to meet us all before her stay and we immediately knew that she would quickly gain a good understanding of their needs and strange ways!!. She kept in touch regularly throughout our holiday and sent photos. We had no concerns at all, and could completely relax. When we got home, after the initial crazy "welcome home chaos" it was plain to see that they were very laid back and content in her presence ..it was like we were never away! We feel so lucky to have met Ludivine, and we hope that she will stay again in the future. Thank you Ludivine 😊xx”

About: I have recently completed my final year studying Animal Management at university, where I’ve gained a strong understanding of dog behaviour, training, health, and welfare. This allows me to provide more than just basic care—I can recognise body language, support positive behaviour, and tailor each dog’s routine to suit their individual needs. I have experience caring for dogs of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments, including more nervous or anxious dogs who may need extra patience and reassurance. I’m also confident reinforcing basic training such as lead manners and general obedience during their stay if needed. Another key difference is that your dog will rarely ever be left alone. Between me and my partner, someone is typically always home, so your dog will have constant supervision, companionship, and attention throughout the day. We are also both insured outside of Rover! I also provide a calm, spacious home environment and keep my bookings limited to a maximum of 2 dogs (as long as both owners are informed and have agreed prior), so each dog receives focused care rather than being one of many. Combined with regular updates and photos, I aim to give owners complete peace of mind while their dog is with me. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I work in the pub downstairs (Thursday-Saturday evenings - can change depending on your booking!), but between me and my partner, one of us is always at home—so your dog will never be left alone. This allows me to provide consistent supervision, regular walks, playtime, and companionship throughout the day. I’m also able to be flexible with routines, whether your dog prefers early walks, multiple shorter outings, or a more relaxed schedule. Because I’m in my final year of studying Animal Management, pet care is a central part of my lifestyle, not just something I do occasionally. Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I provide a calm, secure, and spacious home environment in our private upstairs living area, away from noise and distractions. I always take the time to understand each dog’s routine, behaviour, and any specific needs before their stay. With my background in Animal Management, I’m confident reading dog body language, managing different temperaments, and ensuring a safe, stress-free environment. I keep bookings limited so each dog receives plenty of attention and space. I also carefully manage introductions and interactions if there are multiple dogs, always prioritising safety. Regular updates and photos are provided so you can feel confident and reassured while your dog is in my care.

About: I’m currently accepting new clients and usually respond quickly. I’m a masters student at Anglia Ruskin University and a proud pet parent to my 4-year-old Labrador back home in India, whom I’ve raised since he was just a month old. Caring for him has given me a strong understanding of dog behaviour, routines, exercise, and daily care. I’m calm, patient, and comfortable around different temperaments, including energetic and anxious dogs. I’ve also spent time around street dogs, which has helped me become confident and adaptable with animals. While most of my hands-on experience is with dogs, I’m also happy to care for cats and other pets, always taking time to understand their individual routines and needs. Since moving to the UK, I’ve really missed being around animals, so I’d love to help with walks, drop-ins, companionship, or house sitting. I’ll always follow your instructions carefully and make sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and well looked after. I’m available most of the week except Monday and Tuesday mornings, and I’m happy to provide regular photo and video updates for peace of mind. I’m a 28-year-old master’s student at Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford, currently working part-time alongside my studies. I’m generally available all days for pet care, including walks, drop-ins, and sitting, except Monday and Tuesday mornings when I have classes. Outside of that, my schedule is flexible and I’m happy to adjust around your pet’s routine to make sure they feel comfortable and cared for. Animals are genuinely very close to my heart, and I treat them with the same care, patience, and attention I would give my own family. I have personally raised a Labrador from puppyhood to 4 years old on my own, so I’m very familiar with daily care, behaviour, and responsibility. I’m extremely observant about each pet’s personality, preferences, and comfort. I always follow owner instructions carefully and make sure every pet feels safe, relaxed, and loved in my care.

About: Having grown up around dogs, all across my family, and dog sat for relatives and friends for a large portion of my life, I find great comfort being around dogs. All shapes, all sizes. I operate clear communication with owners and make sure any requests are met and social requirements for the pets. I do enjoy running so I can take your dog out for runs if that is preferred over a walk. For the short term. I am available most days as my current rota comes on week by week, so I can book days where needed. I will show both your pets and your home respect. Making sure I am always tidy, and going the extra mile to make sure it stays that way.
About: Claire’s Canines started in 2021, but the idea and planning for it began way back in 2018 and 2019 when I was living in Spain. I often walked my friends' dogs to help when she was at work, and dog sat for her when she had to work overtime. Upon my return to the UK, I missed the experience and decided to start up my own company full time. I cater for all dogs of all breeds and ages and understand some dogs love a good run, while others prefer a slow simple walk. Every walk is bespoke to your dog's needs, for example, if you have a young dog who needs good daily exercise, we will give them a chance to exercise off-leash (with owners permission). Older dogs or dogs with health problems will be provided with shorter more local walks, less strenuous, but still getting that crucial exercise needed. I hope that your dogs will be able to join us on our adventures and don’t worry if your dog is not particularly sociable. I can cater for solo walks too. Best paw forward! Love from Claire Morning walks between 7 and 11. Midday walks between 12 and 2. Afternoon walks 3 and 6. All walks last an hour unless otherwise arranged. All dogs are walked and returned to your property, given clean fresh water, and treats (if allowed) are left contented and happy. I do not include any driving time in the session, so your dogs get their full allotted timescale of fun!
About: Hi! I’m Evan, 21, from Springfield, Chelmsford. I’m a big animal lover with plenty of hands-on experience caring for dogs and other animals such as cats, rabbits and reptiles. I’ve worked at a dog daycare and studied at ARU Writtle College with a focus on animal management and dog grooming. I also regularly look after and walk dogs in my local area. I’m confident caring for dogs of different ages, sizes and personalities and I treat every dog as if they were my own. I am also fully insured. I offer dog walking, overnight stays and house drop-ins, and am available most days with plenty of flexibility. I also enjoy being active so I’m more than happy to keep up with energetic dogs who love long walks. Your pet’s happiness, safety and comfort are my top priorities. Please get in touch to schedule a meet and greet with you and your pet 🐾 I have a very flexible schedule allowing me to do long stays, regular drop-ins. I also like being active so I am more than happy to care for dogs with high energy levels who enjoy long walks. Experience has made me aware that consistently responding to an animal’s needs by observing their behaviour and is important to maintain their comfort. To guarantee I can meet all basic needs I bring necessary equipment (water, treats) on each walk and alter my method of care depending on each animals requirements. Feel free to message and ask any questions not covered 🐾
“Ken house-sat for me for four days to look after my two terriers. The dogs were really happy and Ken was great with them. He left the house clean and tidy and was respectful of my property. I had not used Ken before but would not hesitate to book him again. I highly recommend him!”

About: I have taken care of animals my whole life, from fish, snakes and tortoises to dogs! I've had 3 dogs of varying sizes, and definitely know how to take care of naughty ones. I have experience with dogs with various conditions like dermatitis, and those on special diets and medications. I also have groomed dogs from home. Currently I am a university student, so my schedule is very flexible and I am open to taking on new pets and last minute requests. I am offering dog walks and drop ins, please don't hesitate to enquire! I am currently on Summer vacation so have lots of free time! We can further organise times that work around my travel and internship dates, but in general I have flexible availability. I am fully respectful of clients homes, and will ensure your pet is safe and cared for whilst under my supervision. I am not offering day care currently, but can assure you that I will keep them from traffic, other animals and any hazards on walks and home visits. Let me know the temperament and routine of your pet (e.g. do they have any bad habits) so that I can accommodate for them to further ensure a strong standard of safety.

Pet owners share their Rover experiences - Chelmsford
Mia was amazing from the initial interview. Our cat took to her instantly which is unusual as she can be very timid around new people. Mia came round the day before we went on holiday to collect keys and arrived when she said. Our cat loved Mia looking after her and it really put our minds at rest having Mia stay while we were away. I can not praise this you g lady enough. Not only looked after the cat but house too. Will definitely be using her again in the future. Thanks again Mia
We booked Elif at short notice this week to look after our dog Judy. We couldn't have been happier with Elif looking after Judy. She was punctual, professional and above all very caring. We went out for the day for our sons 40th birthday celebration and we were kept up to date with pictures and messages. Judy was very comfortable with Elif who played with her and made a fuss of her. I would have no hesitation in recommending Elif.

Tania is a fantastic sitter, she is responsive and efficient when communicating. We met in person before the sit and she took time to listen to an avalanche of information about our cats and our setup. During the sit Tania was sensitive to how our cats behaved, reading their cues and ensuring they were safe, given play and affection when interested and fresh raw food as needed. I highly recommend Tania and her sitting services.

Lauren has taken wonderful care of our 2 cats recently, they have really bonded with her and when we return they’re super relaxed and as if we’ve never left. The house is always taken great care of too, she gives us such a sense of reassurance. A wonderful sitter that I’m so pleased we’ve found, highly recommended 👏🏻

Karen sat overnight for my 14 year old dog, Ted. I felt very confident that Karen would look after him well and I was right. She took the time to come and meet us both beforehand and go through his care and kept me updated. Ted was very relaxed when I got home 🙂

Hallie did a wonderful job looking after our pup and cat whilst we were away for two weeks. We’ve got an elderly dog and a very shy cat so we were a bit worried about leaving them, but Hallie did a great job of keeping us updated daily and the two barely seemed to miss us when we returned! Safe to say they were treated like her own. Would definitely recommend her services and we will definitely be booking with her again.

Rhiannon and Ricky were brilliant! Looked after our pup so well, sent us lots of picture updates which we really appreciated. Really put us at ease by offering a meet up before hand to meet our dog and us. Would 100% trust them to look after our boy again! Thank you both again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chelmsford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. On Rover:
- 85% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 85% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
