Harriet was an absolute lifesaver as another dog sitter who we had previously booked well in advance of an event gave us zero correspondence in the lead up to it, we got on Rover and Harriet organised to meet our dog Mable super quick and then sat for us just a week or so later, Harriet was fantastic and helped at such short notice!

Janine is great sitter and has been exceptionally helpful since my little sausage had a disc rupture and is paralysed in his back legs. He requires extra care (and cuddles) and Janine has been fantastic. My other sausage is also quite nervous with new people to begin with and Janine was very patient (and put up with the barking!) so much so that my sausage fell asleep next to her eventually! Not only did Janine go out of her way to be flexible with timings when I was in a bind getting to the airport but she sent me regular photo updates, which put my mind at ease. Janine has never let me down and I would highly recommend her for dog sitting.

About: Hi, I'm Connie, a 26 year old nutrition student looking to meet and care for your gorgeous doggies like my own! I have owned my energetic female Vizsla for the past 8 years, so I'm very familiar with the needs of active, intelligent dogs with big personalities! I also had a much loved cat for 15 years, giving me experience caring for both dogs and cats throughout different stages of life. I live in a beautiful rural area just outside Felsted, conveniently located near Chelmsford, Braintree and Great Dunmow. Being surrounded by countryside means I have plenty of experience walking dogs in a variety of outdoor settings. I am most comfortable with small to medium sized dogs and always prioritise safety during walks. For this reason, I prefer on lead walking, whether using a short lead or a longer training lead, depending on your dog's needs and your preferences. I'm currently looking to build relationships with local owners who require regular and reliable dog sitting or walking services. I am happy to offer overnight stays for local clients within approximately 15 miles of Felsted. I understand how important it is to find someone trustworthy to care for your pet, and I will always treat your dog with the same care, patience and attention that I give my own. Please feel free to get in touch if you'd like to discuss your dog's needs or arrange a meet and greet. I have a flexible schedule and can provide short-term pet care services, including dog walks, drop-in visits and day sitting, Monday to Saturday between 8am and 10pm. I also offer overnight and multi-day stays throughout the week, subject to availability and pre-arrangement. For overnight or extended bookings, I kindly ask for at least 3 days' notice wherever possible. I'm happy to discuss your individual requirements and accommodate regular or recurring bookings. I am happy to provide pet care within your home and in local areas for walking services. For owners who prefer, I can also transport dogs in my car to quieter countryside locations for rural walks and enrichment. At present, I do not offer boarding or pet care from my own home. I am most confident caring for small to medium-sized dogs that are friendly, well-socialised and comfortable around people. I am experienced in administering medications, following feeding routines and adapting to any specific medical, mobility or comfort requirements your pet may have. I understand that every animal is unique and will always aim to provide attentive, compassionate care tailored to their individual needs and routine.

Algie our Boxer, has separation anxiety and because of his age, we hate to go out and leave him even for a short while. Suzy came to sit with him yesterday evening while we went out for a family birthday dinner and they got on really well. Suzy is a lovely lady and we will be very happy to book her again.

About: Animals have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. I raised my beloved rescue dog from a 2-month-old puppy all the way to 14 years. In her final years, she became very ill, which gave me extensive, hands-on experience in specialized senior care and administering medical treatments, including oral tablets, liquid solutions, and eye drops. Throughout my life, I have also owned and cared for many cats.Beyond my own pets, family members, friends, and neighbors have regularly trusted me to sit, feed, and look after their dogs of various breeds and sizes. I am a very active person, so I am always excited for long walks and engaging playtime. I am also happy to help with essential grooming, such as brushing and safe nail trimming. Your pet will receive the highest level of responsibility, love, and dedicated care! I am currently not working, which means I have a completely flexible schedule and can dedicate all my free time to your pet. I am available at any time by prior arrangement, allowing me to provide constant attention, timely feeding, and long walks whenever your dog needs them. Safety and trust are my absolute priorities. I have plenty of space in my home and a secure, fenced garden where your dog can play safely. Since I currently do not have any pets of my own, your furry friend will receive 100% of my love, care, and undivided attention. Having raised a rescue dog for 14 years, I know exactly how to keep your pet happy, comfortable, and safe.

About: Having owned 9 dogs at once and cared for many more since the age of 12, not having one around is a foreign (unwanted) experience. I’m a farm girl in the big city! Currently I don’t work but am studying towards becoming a teacher. My schedule is wide open for anything that a fur friend might need and want. I live with my parents in a spacious home with a secure, medium-sized fenced garden. We're close to Great Notley Discovery Centre and next to a quiet footpath, making it a great location for dog walks.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs for over 20 years, looking after friends’ and family pets with love, attention, and trust. From walking and feeding to bathing and playing, I ensure every dog feels happy, safe, and pampered. I’m also first aid pet trained, so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is in capable hands. I live with my partner, Luke, in the beautiful Essex countryside, with stunning walks right on our doorstep—the perfect setting for your dog to explore, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors. Although we don’t have our own dog due to work, we make up for it with lots of love, attention, and playtime for every guest. I’m more than happy to arrange a meet and greet so you and your pet can feel comfortable before staying. During their time with us, I’ll provide regular updates and photos so you can see just how much fun they’re having. Your dog will experience a true “home away from home” with us. I can’t wait to meet your furry friend! We are available on our “out of office” days for dog boarding, Friday evenings from 5pm and all day Saturday, Sundays and Bank Holidays too. Your dog’s safety is our top priority. We have a medium-sized, fully gated and fenced garden with plenty of grassed and shaded areas where your dog can safely play and explore. Your pet will always be supervised while outdoors, and we make sure the environment is safe and comfortable. I’m also first aid pet trained, so you can have peace of mind knowing that your dog is in capable hands should any minor accidents occur.

About: A lifelong animal lover and advocate with hands-on experience caring for animals of all shapes, sizes and temperaments - from growing up with rescue pets to professional experience as a dog walker more recently, where I handled up to 4 dogs at a time. Today, I’m a proud mum to Rico, our sweet and playful 2 yr old Husky x Mastiff, who's very friendly and always keen to make new pals - big and small! Adopting Rico has taught me even more about handling and training strong, energetic breeds with confidence, patience and a whoole lotta love 💝 As a heads up for first-time bookings, a free meet & greet would be needed ahead of any Daycare requests, while a full trial day - offered at 20% off the full price - would need to be completed ahead of any long-stay Boarding of 2+ nights. This is to ensure the wellbeing of my dog as well as your own. New Rover users also get £15 off their first booking with the below link: https://www.rover.com/sit/chels21350 I work remotely for the whole week, so I am flexible throughout the days to give pets in my care all the attention, walks, tickles and toys they might need. I know first-hand how important it is to feel at ease when leaving your fur bby in someone else’s hands, so I prioritise communication, consistency in individually tailored care and genuine affection in every visit! We live in a 3 bedroom house on a quiet dead-end close, and have a secure fenced garden that your dog would have access to whenever they'd like, whether it's a quick toilet break, a run around with my doggo, or a snooze in the sun spots. We can only take houseguests that are friendly and well-socialised with other dogs due to Rico being quite playful, and they must also be good with children, as my partner has an 8 year old daughter who stays with us 50% of the week. She is very loving and gentle with animals, and used to the company of big dogs, but its really important that any pets we take in have a good temperament and no history of aggression. I can also cater to any specific diets, schedules or administering oral medicines - for overnight stays I just ask that you provide their usual food to keep things consistent and comfortable while they're away from home, and you're welcome to bring anything that might give them xtra comfort if needs be 💝 For added peace of mind all-round, dogs need to be microchipped and come with their collar and ID tag please. If you think things could be a good fit or you have any questions, just drop me a line ☺️

I recently had Kayleigh look after my dog, Suggsy, and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. Suggsy had a fantastic time under her care. He went on a big walk, which tired him out nicely. It was clear he had an amazing time with her. Kayleigh kept me updated throughout his stay with pictures, which was very reassuring. I highly recommend Kayleigh for anyone looking for a reliable and caring dog sitter.

Kai looked after our pets while we were away. It was the first time leaving our dog Kylo so we were a bit anxious about it but Kai was absolutely amazing. He meet them a couple of times beforehand and kept us updated. They were both extremely well looked after. I think Kylo specially will miss all of the belly rubs he got from Kai. Will definitely book Kai again. Thank you so much for making it a bit easier to leave them.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Braintree on Rover is £34.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 1,536 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Braintree. Enter your postcode to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Post & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Rubbish & recycling: Taking bins out on scheduled rubbish collection days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best time to agree on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a 'home cheat sheet' that includes your preferred Braintree walking routes, the location of your favourite pet shop, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Braintree choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a key safe or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
