“Andrew & Pia were absolutely fantastic with Wilf. This was our first time leaving him alone with someone outside the family. Regular updates throughout the week put our minds at rest. He’s come home such a happy dog so Wilf will most definitely be returning for more adventures.”

“Paul and Sally took care of our pup for a week and we couldn’t be happier, from the first meeting it was really clear that he would be in great hands and be treated as one of the family, he had a great stay and went on plenty of adventures, which we loved seeing in our daily updates. Thank you Sally and Paul, see you soon.”

“Alec and his family were absolutely fantastic looking after our older Jack Russell, he got plenty of cuddles and walks with playtime with the children, we will certainly look to them again!”

“Lauren, Eva and Penny did a fantastic job of welcoming our Daschund, Toby into their immaculate home for Christmas. We received regular updates and photos and even bought him a Christmas present!! I would have no hesitation recommending Lauren to my friends.”

“Everything great. Sean even spotted that we forgot to leave food when we dropped our lively border terrier off and stepped in to offer substitute, in the end not needed. Holly seemed very happy with her stay. Thanks a million Sean.”

“Francesca was absolutely brilliant with our two labradors! They were very well cared for and loved the fuss! Would 100% recommend Francesca and will definitely be rebooking! Thank you ☺️”

“Thank you for looking after our French Bulldog, Athos. Felt comfortable leaving him with you and quickly received updates that he had settled well. Quick communication arranging pick up and drop off, and straightforward to get a pre stay meet up in.”

“Our golden doodle had a lovely week with Andrew and his family with lots of fun and was included in family life. Communication was excellent with daily updates and a sense that Andrew was in tune with her needs and personality.”

“Can’t recommend Debbie and her lovely dog Logan enough, for the first time leaving my own dog she couldn't have been in safer hands! Debbie updated me with photos and videos throughout the time she was taking care of my dog, I returned to collect a very happy and chilled out dog who had obviously had a lovely time staying with Debbie! 10/10 would highly recommend!??”

“Oscar was obviously very happy and settled after home boarding with David. He’d been taken on lots of walks and had plenty of playtime chasing his ball. David was great at communicating with us, checking to confirm if Oscar would be ok left for a short time and going on walks with other dogs at our initial visit and sending us pictures of Oscar during our week away. I’d be very happy for Oscar to stay with David again.”

About: Dog sat for multiple dogs for friends and family over the years, including huskies, sproodles and Alsatians. Dealt with timid dogs which have grown comfortable in my care. I work from home most of the week so will be at home with the dog and can go for a short walk in the morning and lunchtime, and longer walks after finishing work. Also have a fenced garden with grass they can play in during the day. I have a fenced garden with grass for them to play in. Provide walks along nearby canal and countryside. Provide round the clock care as I work from home so they’d always be supervised. Don’t mind dogs on furniture if they are clean.
“Tara looked after Otis brilliantly whilst I was away on holiday for a week. As this was his first stay with her, I was naturally a little anxious, but she put me completely at ease. Otis enjoyed some wonderful long walks and clearly had lots of love, attention, and care. Tara regularly sent photos and updates, and seeing how content and relaxed he looked gave me real peace of mind whilst I was away. It’s obvious that Tara genuinely cares about the dogs she looks after, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy, caring, and reliable dog sitter. Thank you, Tara, for taking such great care of Otis!”

About: My husband, Hamish, and I have had dogs for the last 15 years - all have gone over the rainbow bridge now. Hamish and I have had many years experience with dogs and our daughter (9 years old) has never known a house without one. We would love to meet new dogs and host them in our home. We have a beautiful big garden and are close to lots of lovely walking trails. We would shower your dog with affection and give them a home away from home while you’re away. I’m currently not working so after school drop off I’m free during the day for long walks and play time. I can keep you updated with photos and messages and be flexible if your dog has a particular schedule. I have a fully fenced garden and am happy to use a crate if that’s what your dog prefers. We have beds and toys and are happy to use your dogs own belongings of that’s preferred.
“This is the first time we have used Sonia, we did a trial night which was great and then our dogs have stayed with her for 9 nights, we asked for photos to ensure they were happy, which we got every day which was great, our dogs were very happy and settled and she let them treat her house as their own and they took full advantage of that. They have had lots of cuddles and walks from Sonia. We are super grateful for her and her partner for how they have looked after our dogs(children). Would definitely recommend and we will be using her again for future holidays and breaks”

“My two dogs were looked after by Vicky while I went on holiday abroad. She sent regular updates and photos, giving me reassurance that they were doing well. They were looked after to a very high standard, she took onboard all of the notes that I left for their well-being, she walked them both regularly and treated them like they were her own. I would not hesitate to recommend Vicky as a pet sitter, after my experience with her.”

“I can't recommend Ellie highly enough. Hugo loved his time staying with her. We could tell he had been loved and looked after for the weekend. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be using her again.”

Josie took excellent care of our golden doodle Milo in her beautiful home. She communicated really well throughout the process and was kind enough to send pictures and updates while we were away on our holiday. It was great to see Milo settle in quickly and enjoying himself on walks with Josie and her dog Blue. Excellent dog sitter. Fully recommend. 5 stars.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in North West England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
