This was the first time leaving my 2 dogs with Chris, he has a great personality, the way he treats and interacts with my dogs was professional and caring. He sent me lots of photos and videos, together with chats and reassurance about the way my girls had settled in. When I arrived to collect them, they were happy and enjoyed their stay. I will certainly use Chris again.

We can’t thank Katie enough. We went on Rover to look for a dog sitter for our 8 month old puppy and found Katie. We went for a meet and greet and then Buster went to stay for the day. He had the best time and we were so relaxed and happy knowing he was well cared for. We got lots of updates throughout the day. So lovely to find someone you trust with your precious animal. Thanks again Katie

About: My husband Ryan and I have both always loved dogs and have looked after countless pups over the years both for family, friends and others. Our dog Nugs is the most important and precious thing in the world to us so we completely understand how nerve-wracking it can be to trust someone new with your baby. But dogs are treated like royalty in our home. Welcome on all furniture including the bed and as many kisses and cuddles as they’re comfortable with will be bestowed upon their tiny heads. Our pug Nugs is a pro companion now - he’s welcomed so many dogs of all sizes and breeds into his home over the years and is the most docile little thing you can imagine. He’s getting a bit older now and takes certain medication and supplements and so we’re happy to take on any dogs with additional needs. Not only do we have incredible walks on our doorstep (Highdown hill and Angmering Park Estate) but if your pup is comfortable in the car, we regularly pop a few minutes down the road to the beach for walks so they can have fun paddling in the rock pools or swimming in the sea. Before we commit to any bookings we will ask to meet you and your dog before hand to make sure they are comfortable and happy with us and our dog Nugs. Ensuring they will be happy and safe with us is our main priority. Both my husband and I work from home full time so they won’t be left alone for long periods of time. I am freelancing so set my own schedule so am able to be totally flexible when it comes to walks depending on your dogs routine and the weather to make sure it’s safe for them to go out. If your dog has a preference and set routine for walks, we’re easily able to accommodate this for you. We have a large enclosed private garden for your dog to run around in. Our pug Nugs is such a chill companion and is really good at adjusting to your dogs boundaries. His go to is to keep himself to himself but if your dog wants to play or snuggle, he’ll happily join in. Our home is clean, smoke free and dogs are welcome on all furniture including the bed. We’re happy to accommodate your needs and preferences so if you’d like them to sleep on a crate, in their own bed in a different room, or in our room/on our bed - that’s totally fine. We always welcome more cuddles! We have easy access to vets if they needed any medical attention whilst you’re away and are happy to administer medication or supplements for your dog as needed.

Sarah was very pleasant and welcoming. Woody had an initial interview before she agreed the babysitting dates. Her husband was also very much on board with the care and made me feel very confident Woody would be well looked after. She sent us a few photos of Woody during the stay which we appreciated. When we collected Woody, there were 2 other dogs being dropped off, which showed me Sarah is very popular with her customers. She and her husband work well as a team. We will definitely use them again.

Reluctantly I have to say this lady is an absolutely fantastic dog sitter. Probably the best we’ve ever used. I say reluctantly because Tina is so good that you have book early to get a place in her diary! Very popular lady, extremely good at her job and she really cares. If I could give her 6 stars I would. You can go away knowing your dog is in safe hands, I highly recommend Tina and always would be my first choice.

Harvey took to Sue very quickly. She was very good with him as he does get over excited when meeting new people. She came to meet him before he boarded with her, which meant that he wasn't so anxious when he went to stay. Sue gave us daily updates which put our mind at ease and it sounds like Harvey had a great weekend. We would definitely recommend Sue and will definitely contact her to look after Harvey in the future. Thanks Sue!

About: Hi, I’m Louise, and caring for dogs has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up with dogs and, until a couple of years ago, our family shared our home with our much-loved Bulldog, who brought us endless happiness. Losing him left a huge gap in our lives, and we really miss having a dog around the house. Looking after dogs isn’t just something I do – it’s something I genuinely love. Every dog has its own personality, and I enjoy taking the time to get to know them so they feel safe, relaxed and happy while they’re with me. To make sure I can provide the highest standard of care, I have completed Canine First Aid training and Dog Behaviour training. This means I understand how to recognise signs of stress, communicate with dogs appropriately, and respond calmly if an emergency were ever to arise. Whether your dog loves long walks, playing, cuddles on the sofa or simply relaxing in a quiet environment, I’ll make sure they receive the individual care and attention they deserve. I know how difficult it can be to leave a beloved pet, so I’ll keep you updated with regular photos and messages, giving you complete peace of mind while you’re away. My aim is simple: to provide a safe, loving home-from-home where your dog is treated as one of the family. I would be honoured to care for your pet as if they were my own. I work from home and I carefully manage my bookings so every dog receives plenty of time, attention and companionship. My daughter Tia who is currently studying equine management and loves animals, also works with me which means your pet is never just another booking. We offer flexible boarding, overnight stays and holiday care, with lots of playtime, cuddles, enrichment and regular updates so you can relax knowing your dog is in safe, loving hands. Your dog’s safety, happiness and wellbeing are always our top priorities. We have a secure, fully enclosed garden and provide a calm, loving home where dogs are treated like part of the family. I’ve owned dogs since childhood and completed canine first aid and dog behaviour training, so I’m confident caring for dogs of different ages, sizes and personalities. We only take a maximum number of two dogs from the same household at a time to ensure every pet receives individual attention, and we’ll always follow your dog’s normal routine, feeding schedule and any special instructions to help them feel completely at home.

About: I've been taking care of dogs of all kinds for just over two years now. Every dog has its own personality and I take pride in making sure these personalities are understood, so that I can build a genuine connection with them. There's nothing more rewarding then clicking with these amazing animals. I currently work during the day, so taking care of your pets will be a late afternoon service. Weekends can be an all day service. I live in a flat with two other people who are animal lovers too. If there's anything that the client knows the dog likes to get their teeth on then I'll make sure that's cleared away. There will always be water available. And whatever the dogs schedule, I will adhere to that to insure routine is upheld.

Tina is the perfect "auntie" to our 2 girls. They had a long weekend stay which is, I am sure, more than a home from home. Tina updated me with photos so I could relax knowing that they were fine. It is such a relief to find someone we can rely on when we need support or want a holiday. I can't thank her enough!

Tyne and her lovely family were amazing! We were a little nervous as our puppy had never stayed with anyone outside our immediate family before but knew he would be well cared for with them all. We had frequent updates with photos and it was clear he was loving his holiday as much as we were! We would definitely use Tyne and family again, they were more than we could have wished for!

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
