“Hazel had an amazing time with Katherine and her family. This was her first time staying but the frequent updates whilst we were away stopped us from worrying as we knew Hazel was having a fantastic time. We will definitely be coming back in the future!”

“We met up with Chris in advance and instantly felt at home with him. He’s very kind and loving with our elderly Italian Spinone, Elmo. We’ve booked to use him again and would have no hesitation in recommending Chris’s services. Thank you Chris”

“Both and Kathy and Ian were fantastic when we left our very nervous Ted for his first visit. We received regular updates and photos which gave us reassurance that he had settled ok with them. Would highly recommend.”

“Katie and her partner were perfect dog sitters for our 3 year old golden retriever. They were very attentive and accommodating to his routine and were patient with him as he can be very excitable and sometimes needs some direction and guidance. They were very communicative during his stay, sending daily updates and pictures and he looked like he had a great time. Rupert absolutely loved their Labrador Woody and Katie ensured he had great walks and stayed calm and cool during the hot weather. I would highly recommend them both and will be returning in the future.”

“We are truly grateful to Ellie and her girls for taking amazing care of our puppy Benji! We were sent lots of photos and given lots of updates on what they were doing with Benji, and he looked like he was having the best time, which really put our minds at ease. Ellie was amazing with Benji and took such great care of him. We would definitely recommend her! Thank you so much again ☺️”

“Sharon was fantastic with my little Shih Tzu, Mushu. He had a great time staying with her, her husband Dave and their dog Bertie. I received updates and photos at least once a day and was always happy that he was being well looked after and that all was going well.”

“I can not recommend Lynne and her husband Lee enough. We went for a visit pre booking and found them to be friendly and relaxed and was immediately put at ease. Dudley, our dog, was happy with them and when we arrived to drop him for his holiday, jumped out of the car and went straight to their door. We had a relaxed holiday knowing we didn’t have to worry about him and that he was happy in their company and relaxed. We got regular photo updates. We were extremely grateful for their flexibility when our flight got delayed. Nothing was too much trouble and he really was well looked after. Not sure Dudley even wanted to come home with us as he misses all the attention. Can’t Thank you enough Lynne - Until the next time.”

“Scott was great. Raffy is a young boy with lots of energy and Scott managed him brilliantly. Raffy seemed to have loved spending time with Scott and his family. I got an update on the day I dropped him off to say he had settled in and was all good and amazing when I then needed ti pick him up slightly earlier. Thank you so much Scott and family.”

“Sarah and her family looked after our two 'Kids while we had a couple of days away. She kept me updated on them and they were as right as rain when went to collect. I would highly recommend and we will be using them again. With total confidence.”

“Huge thankyou to Joanna for looking after our dog Monty whilst we were away for two weeks this month. It was clear from our pre stay visit the calming and nurturing environment which Joanna offers. Throughout Monty’s stay, we received regular updates by text and WhatsApp photos. We feel that Monty thoroughly enjoyed his home from home with Joanna and her lovely dog Minnie. Thankyou Joanna for all your help and flexibility when our flights home were delayed by 9.5 hours. We would without question recommend Joanna to care for friends pets.”

“OMG, Chelsea has been amazing and a revelation. I have never left my two dogs with a sitter as I have felt so anxious about it but Chelsea has been absolutely brilliant. I got Pupdates on a regular basis and felt immediately at ease with them being with Chelsea. Both dogs were so incredibly happy and chilled when I picked them up. They had been given so much love and attention and lots of good sniff walks - they are so content! I wouldn’t hesitate to choose Chelsea again, so much so, Winnie and Bert are staying again for 3 nights in November and they can’t wait and I now feel totally at ease. I’d recommend Chelsea, if you’re anxious or have never used a sitter before, you will feel completely at ease here. Thank you Chelsea, Bert and Win can’t wait for November!”

“What a lovely young lady. My dog Monty was treated as another family member. She is kind, gentle and fun to be around. Monty received lots of exercise so thank you! Definitely use her again. Karien”

“Wendy was amazing with our cavavpoo, Phoebe. She sent us loads of pictures and updates which was lovely while we were away. Phoebe looked happy and settled the whole time! Would 100% recommend Wendy to anyone looking for a caring, attentive dog sitter who caters to all your pets needs. 😀”

About: I've been around dogs since I was 8 years old and have always loved being part of their lives. Growing up with family dogs gave me plenty of hands-on experience, and over the years I've regularly looked after dogs for friends and family. Whether it's walks, playtime, feeding, or simply keeping them company, I enjoy making sure every dog feels happy, safe, and well cared for. I work during the week, so I'm available for bookings at weekends and during school holidays. Throughout the summer holidays I have plenty of free time, allowing me to give your dog lots of attention, walks, playtime, and companionship. I'll always make sure your pet gets the care, exercise, and love they need while you're away. Your dog's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I have a private, secure garden and plenty of space inside my home for dogs to relax and feel at ease. I also have a friendly cat who is very used to the family dogs visiting, so they're comfortable around each other. I'll follow your dog's usual routine, including feeding, walks, medication (if needed), and any special instructions, so they feel happy, safe, and right at home.

“Thank you Sue! I felt very comfortable knowing Poppy was in Sue’s care. I appreciated it that she took notes about my dogs preferences and needs. The video of my dog playing that I was sent out my mind at ease. I look forward to the next time Poppy has to stay here.”

About: I’ve had dogs in my life for over 50 years, and caring for them has always been second nature to me. I have experience with all ages and stages — from energetic puppies who need patience, structure, and training, to senior dogs who deserve a gentler pace, comfort, and lots of reassurance. Boarding starts at £46 per night for one dog. Rover may show higher estimates depending on number of dogs, holidays, or extended care I’m very fit and active and genuinely love long walks, so your dog will get plenty of fresh air, exercise, and attention (always tailored to their age and needs). Just as importantly, I love quiet companionship too — dogs are happiest when they feel relaxed and secure, and I’m very attuned to reading their signals. I prioritize safety, trust, and comfort at all times. Pets are closely supervised in a clean, calm, pet-friendly environment. I follow all care instructions carefully and provide regular updates and photos so owners feel at ease. My goal is to make every pet feel secure, happy, and well cared for.

We’ve booked Tina several times for daycare for our two nervous little rescue dogs and it’s been brilliant. This was our first time booking for boarding. Tina’s house is so well set up to accommodate for dogs. Our two are always excited to get into her garden when we arrive. Our dogs aren’t the easiest, being unsure about new people and loud noises but Tina takes great care of them and makes them very comfortable. For us, the nicest thing about leaving them with Tina is that it’s clear she loves them just like we do and that’s very reassuring.

Gemma and her family are ideal for our cockapoo, Honey. It’s a loving household with children, a dog to play with and lovely walks. Honey always gets very excited the moment we turn into the road. We feel that Honey is safe and loved the whole time. Thank you Gemma

Tyne and her lovely family were amazing! We were a little nervous as our puppy had never stayed with anyone outside our immediate family before but knew he would be well cared for with them all. We had frequent updates with photos and it was clear he was loving his holiday as much as we were! We would definitely use Tyne and family again, they were more than we could have wished for!

Lauren replies promptly to messages. Lauren has a lovely home in countryside with a large secure garden. The initial meet with my dog and theirs was conducted safely and sensitively. Reggie returns from his stays relaxed and well cared for. I would recommend Lauren will use Lauren again.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.
When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:
- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

- Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
- Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
