“What can I say. It was the perfect introduction to Rover for Muffin and me. Kathy was home from home. She has an amazing knowledge of dog behaviour and fully understood muffins need from the start. Obviously Muffin was very excited to see me but Kathy’s two knew he was going and Mufhin will miss them. If I could give 10 stars to Kathy’s care I would. I could not have dreamed of a carer who was so taken with muffin as I am. I can’t thank her enough.”

“We met up with Chris in advance and instantly felt at home with him. He’s very kind and loving with our elderly Italian Spinone, Elmo. We’ve booked to use him again and would have no hesitation in recommending Chris’s services. Thank you Chris”

“Winston had the best time with Katie, her husband and their dog Woody! I felt so relaxed knowing he was in great hands. We received cute photos and updates which we really appreciate. We will definitely be booking again, thank you! 😊xx”

“Ziggy had a wonderful time with Lynne. He was looked after like a king with lots of playtime and attention. We would have no hesitation in recommending Lynne and her husband who are such lovely people and Ziggy can't wait to go back. See you soon.”

“Having found Sarah on Dog buddy we had a trial night sleepover and this went very well. It’s always daunting leaving your fur baby with strangers but Sarah was amazing and very welcoming and i was kept updated with lovely picture posts on the whole stay. All of our dogs needs were taken care of and I have one happy hound returning home, he had a wonderful stay. Thanks to Sarah x”

“Huge thankyou to Joanna for looking after our dog Monty whilst we were away for two weeks this month. It was clear from our pre stay visit the calming and nurturing environment which Joanna offers. Throughout Monty’s stay, we received regular updates by text and WhatsApp photos. We feel that Monty thoroughly enjoyed his home from home with Joanna and her lovely dog Minnie. Thankyou Joanna for all your help and flexibility when our flights home were delayed by 9.5 hours. We would without question recommend Joanna to care for friends pets.”

“Sam looked after Leia when I needed to suddenly travel abroad for a few days. She completely understood how stressful it was to leave my dog behind, so sent a few pictures and updates, at the same time respecting the difficult time I was going through, and giving me space which was what I needed on so many levels. Leia had a great time at Sam's, which was easy to see when I came to pick her up. She kept going back to Sam and her husband for more cuddles and belly rubs, which speaks volumes about care she received. Sam will be my 'go to' dog sitter from now on, and I hope she'll have space to look after Leia next time I'm away. Thank you, Sam, for your support!”

“We booked with Heather and her partner for the 1st time and we are so pleased with the care our dog max received, such a lovely friendly and caring couple. We would highly recommend and will definitely use again if we need to with no worries at all. Thank you so much ?”

“Wendy is so caring and gave my dog sk much attention. She was having challenges with her waring and tried different methods whilst keeping me up to date. I had daily photos and videos as well as messages what they've been up to. I dread leaving my dog as miss her terribly but seeing her playing and having such a good time has really put me at ease. Thank you so much Wendy.”

“Burt had a great time with Chelsea. We highly recommend her for doggy day care. Very flexible and helped us out at short notice. We will be using her again soon.”

About: I have had puppies and dogs all my life, also many other types of animals, including farm animals. I live on the beach and very close to woodland also, love longs walks with my own hound (Humphrey) we are energetic and fun, but at the same time we love a cozy evening in front of the tv once we are all knackered out! I have a very safe home and garden, tons of doggy toys and treats 😍🦴🐾🐶 I currently work part time as a carer, but this can fit around boarding. I would like to expand my boarding work, so always happy to free up time for the dogs 🐶 My garden is fenced and safe and I have an adorable Whippet (Humphrey) who is happy to keep your dog company on the rare occasion that I have to be out, which would not be longer than an hour or so at a time.

“My doggy Ruby had a lovely time, she's been very well looked after and spoiled! Sue sent me lovely updates of there walks everyday! I highly recommend sue if you need ur doggy looked after! Very happy thankyou! 😊”

Dog owners share their Rover experiences - Arun
Tina is the perfect "auntie" to our 2 girls. They had a long weekend stay which is, I am sure, more than a home from home. Tina updated me with photos so I could relax knowing that they were fine. It is such a relief to find someone we can rely on when we need support or want a holiday. I can't thank her enough!
Gemma and her family are ideal for our cockapoo, Honey. It’s a loving household with children, a dog to play with and lovely walks. Honey always gets very excited the moment we turn into the road. We feel that Honey is safe and loved the whole time. Thank you Gemma

Tyne and her lovely family were amazing! We were a little nervous as our puppy had never stayed with anyone outside our immediate family before but knew he would be well cared for with them all. We had frequent updates with photos and it was clear he was loving his holiday as much as we were! We would definitely use Tyne and family again, they were more than we could have wished for!

- Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in South East England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
