“Wren was great with Gander. We had an appliance malfunction while she was staying and she was patient with us/our maintenance. Wren is good at communicating and I feel confident Gander is left in good hands.”

“Tracy was absolutely outstanding! She stayed at our home while caring for our two dogs, our cat, and our property, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the moment we left, Tracy gave us complete peace of mind. She was attentive, responsible, and genuinely caring with all of our pets. Our dogs were happy, well exercised, and clearly loved the time they spent with her. Our cat, who can be a little particular, was comfortable and well cared for as well. Beyond pet care, Tracy took exceptional care of our home and garden. Everything was spotless when we returned. Her attention to detail and pride in her work were evident in every aspect of her stay. Communication was excellent throughout. Tracy kept us updated with messages and photos, which allowed us to fully relax and enjoy our time away. My wife really enjoyed receiving an end of day message and looked forward to reading them. We trust Tracy completely and would welcome her back without hesitation. If you're looking for someone who will care for your pets and home as if they were her own, we give Tracy our highest recommendation. Five stars all around! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”

“Very pleased with the extended stay coverage while we were traveling internationally. Anastasia was understanding and adaptable. We appreciated all the dog walks too! Will use Anastasia again in the future!”

“Jorden was very attentive to our dogs, one of which was having some separation anxiety. She was great in her communication alongside sending pictures for updates! This was my first time leaving my dogs alone since we have moved here. She was super understanding with my pet parent worries and reassured me that she was there. We really hope to have her again.”

“Stephanie is a total joy to work with! All three of my fur babies had NO problem with us leaving them in her loving care! Molly, our oldest, usually is shy/reserved, but from the moment we first met Stephanie, Molly decided immediately that her spot was Steph's lap. Also appreciated that our home was in pristine order when we returned from our trip; she truly left it better than she found it! Stephanie is everything you look for in a house/pet sitter ... reliable, communicative, trustworthy, and a whole lot of fun to work with. Definitely will book with her again and appreciate having her care for our home and esp. our three pups!”

“Tabbatha watched our two dogs for two weeks in our home and she was truly amazing! It was clear that she really cared about our dogs and she went above and beyond for them, including sending lots of pictures of how they were doing! She was also flexible enough to stay an extra night when we had unexpected travel issues. Overall, we highly recommend Tabbatha!”

About: I have never boarded my own dog because he is the most spoiled dog in the world and he loves the comfort of his own home! I believe all fur babies should have the same comfort! I also have walked my dog every day for the past 10 years! Puppies need daily exercise and play! I enjoy walking and being outside. I currently do not work and my kiddos are now in school full time! I love dogs and cats, as well as helping others, so I figured this was a great fit! I can be available after the kids go to school, until the time they come home. I would prefer drop in visits and dog walking. I don’t plan to care for dogs in my own home, but I will care for your pets as if they were my own. Also, I would follow any instructions you give.

“Nicholas was awesome house sitting for our dog and cat. Very good communication from the start and took great care of our house and pets. Our dog is shy and he was very good with gaining her trust without stressing her out. We would be very happy to have him house sit again.”

About: I am interested in longer stays with pets and property that are high in value. If you need someone with maturity and experience to look after your dear pet and property diligently then I am your choice. I communicate very frequently (daily) with photos and updates unless you prefer otherwise. Often sitting with my teenager, we provide great love, care and exercise to your pet while also bringing years of property ownership experience to our assignments. I have an exceptional reputation among pet owners for whom I have pet sat through Trusted Housesitters. As a remote part time professional with my own consulting firm I am able to be attentive to your home and pets. I often have my daughter with me but I understand that I am responsible for all home and pet care directly and that my teen is not left to attend to these responsibilities. I enjoy training puppies if need be and am comfortable administering most meds. I have experience with most types of pets and some farm animals. We are excited to support you, your pets and your beautiful property while you are away. We are open to travel to your location for a great stay. As an entrepreneur who works remote I am available to be very attentive to your home and pets. I usually start the day early with pet care and walks as needed. Then I spend an hour on the computer with work. I will have 5 to 7 hours of Video meetings per week. My unique work schedule is what makes these opportunities such a great fit. I care for pets in their own home as per their owners instructions. I am diligent to provide the kind of loving care that the pet is accustomed to.
About: I grew up on a farm and have been an animal lover my whole life. My parents called me the dog whisperer growing up because I was the only one our dogs would listen to. We had cats also, as well as horses, cows, pigs, even a donkey. I look forward to being your fill in parent to your fur baby when you are away! I work from home and will be with your fur baby most of the day for in home pet sitting. With to my work from home schedule, I have flexibility to fill your individual needs. I have a large fenced yard for your pups to frolic if you want pet sitting at my home. If at your home, I will meticulously follow your instructions for your pet's care.
“My goodness! Not enough good things to say. I believe my boy Zen was happier when I came home than even before I left! Greats has a way with dogs and showed our boy so much love. Thankful for this wonderful soul!”

“Willow was amazing. I am always an overbearing pet parent to my kiddos and she was so sweet always answering my texts and sending me pictures every day. Truly the best!”

About: I’ve cared for dogs since I was 10, and I manage four of my own. Friends and neighbors trust me to walk, feed, and look after their pets responsibly. I only work part time so I have a lot of free time to take care and help you with your dogs! I hope to help out! I am able to spend the night and feed and play with your pets. I love to go on long walks with dogs as well!
“Ivi was amazing helping out with watching my dog for a few nights! She communicated very well with lots of photos and went above and beyond to help make me feel comfortable while I was away. I could tell she just "knows dogs" and was able to clearly read my dog's queues and adjust to his behaviors. I'll definitely use Ivi again and can't thank her enough for taking care of my baby boy!”

“It's always a challenge finding someone to stay in my home that I can fully trust to not only care for my animals, but also respect my property and belongings. Paige took ALL those worries away and we are so extremely grateful to have found her! She is responsible, clean, and most importantly - Caring, loving and kind. She immediately bonded with my dogs upon arrival, sent daily updates of what they were up to and left a clean house for us to come home to after a long day of traveling. If you want to take a vacation and not have to stress over who's taking care of your life - Paige is your girl!”

“Iva did a wonderful job taking care of our dog and cat. She shared lots of great pictures and comments about their time together. Our house was left in great shape. We would highly recommend Iva to anyone looking for a pet sitter.”

About: I grew up with several dogs and cats in the family home. I have raised and trained a Doberman, so I know what it takes to teach them obedience and the importance of consistency. I love animals so much, they bring me so much joy. Fun fact: when I was a little girl I wanted to be a veterinarian. I feel that I have a special connection with animals; they are usually naturally drawn to me. I didn’t pursue a career as a veterinarian because I had other interests. I currently don’t have any animals because I enjoy the flexibility. I would love to take care of your animals and treat them with extra special care. I am currently working part time and would have the time to care for your pet(s) after work or on my days off. I currently work a 2-3 days a week and am available by the afternoons on the days I am working. I typically pet sit in the owners home. I find that is more comfortable for them. I am not currently able to have pets where I live.
“Payton is amazing! She stayed in my home with her pup and my 5 dogs and 3 kitties and did such a great job with everyone. Several pets have special needs and she gave medications and was very communicative throughout her stay, sending pictures, updates, feedback on behavior, and updates on household items that may need to be replenished. She left my home very clean and I would ask her back any time.”

Wren was an amazing sitter for Juno! She took the time to understand Juno’s needs and followed all of my instructions perfectly. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing Juno was able to stay comfortable at home and was receiving great care. Wren also kept me updated with photos throughout my trip, which I really appreciated! She left my apartment clean and organized, everything was in great condition. I would absolutely recommend Wren to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter, and I look forward to booking with her again!

Payton stayed at our house for a week and did a great job. She earned the trust of our extremely shy rescue dog, sent daily updates, and left everything in perfect condition. She handled an unexpected situation professionally and communicated what happened right away. We came home to a clean house, a thoughtful handwritten card, and two happy pets :) We hope to use Payton again in the future and feel comfortable recommending her.

I cannot express our gratitude for how Carla looked after our two pups. Yeah, they're a little spoiled, and prefer a little extra love and attention, and Carla was here for it. It's always been such a challenge for my wife and I to travel together, but Carla made it possible, and we had the best time ever...made easier by seeing our dogs so happy while away. We joked they were bummed we came back. We also joked that now we have to plan our vacations around Carla's availability. LOL. THANK YOU CARLA!!!!

Paige was outstanding. Highly recommend her. This was our first time leaving the pups with someone other than a family member and doing so at our own home but Paige was professional and made the entire process smooth and seamless. She exceeded our expectations by her accessibility and communication while we were away (sending cute pics daily and putting our minds at ease), and went above and beyond to tidy up the house before she left, which was unnecessary but so appreciated. Thank you so much, Paige.

We had a fantastic experience with Chris as our pet sitter! From the very beginning, she was professional, responsive, and incredibly easy to work with. Her communication was excellent — she kept us updated and gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. Our flight was delayed coming home, and Chris was so flexible and accommodating, which we truly appreciated. It made a stressful travel day so much easier knowing our pets were in such good hands. We came home to happy, healthy pets and everything in great shape. It’s clear she genuinely cares about the animals she looks after. We will absolutely be hiring Chris again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and caring pet sitter!

I have never seen my crazy dog so calm around a person. She clued in quickly that Thomas had treats. We were very nervous leaving our house full of pets for a week, but all was well when we returned. He sent us lots of texts with photos and the house was very clean when we returned. Definitely recommended!!

Aaliyah exceeded all expectations. She followed every instruction carefully, went above and beyond in caring for my dog, and provided consistent communication throughout her stay. I felt completely confident knowing my pets were in her attentive and capable hands. Highly recommend her services.

Rebecca was great. Despite having very short notice, she replied and arranged a meet and greet that occurred within a few hours of me contacting her. She was very communicative and asked a lot of questions and took detailed notes on what my pups needed for their routines. She stayed over at my house for 2 nights while I was out of town, sending pictures and videos frequently and showering my pups with attention. I would highly recommend you consider Rebecca for your pet sitting needs!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in The Hills on Rover is $47.25 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 4,645 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across The Hills. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred The Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in The Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in The Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in The Hills. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
