Sofia has been very isolated from other dogs during the pandemic, and we were a little concerned when we heard that they were watching two other dogs as well. But Karen promised to keep Sofia separate from the others-- something that she did until it became clear to her that Sofia and the other dogs WANTED to get together and play. Karen reported this change in full to us, kept her clearly practiced and experienced eye on the situation, and the result was that Sofia ended up having a great time playing "catch me" with the others. She was happy when we picked her up, and once home-- fell into a deep and peaceful sleep. We're going to do this again.”

When the weather cooperates, I love taking dogs on peaceful neighborhood walks, and I can provide baths if needed as well. *Important: I do have a 1 year old at home, so I’m only able to host dogs who are gentle and comfortable with young children. Safety and a calm environment are top priorities in our home. Safety: Your dog’s comfort and safety , and my family’s, are my top priorities. I do slow, careful introductions with my dogs, or no introductions if requested. Gated “safe spaces” are always available. I follow all feeding, medication, and care instructions exactly as given.

About: Hi! My name is Maya. I am 28 years old and grew up on the island. I’ve had animals all my life and know how to care for and pamper them. I believe our animals are additional family members and are to be treated with the same respect and love we give to our human family members. I love long walks on the beach (or forest or neighborhood), playing fetch, and just generally loving on your animals. I currently have medically sensitive pets so I am capable and adept at giving medication, surgery recovery, food allergies & skin issues and more. I do full time animal care so have a fair amount of flexibility in my day! I am able to do early mornings and late nights on request. I have one friendly dog, but unless you request a playmate for your dog, or we discuss beforehand, they will stay home. I am very good with instructions/taking notes if you don’t leave set instructions. I will respect your wishes and always be communicative if an issue arises. I believe you know your pet best and I will respect your wishes down to the T whether that be in regards to their walks, their feeding, their home treatment or anything else. I’m here for your pet and your peace or mind!

About: I have had dogs my whole life but for the past 23 years I've raised 3 dogs with my husband. I have gone through all life stages with my dogs. I can provide play time, take them for walks or just let them play in our small enclosed deck. Since I work from home for the past 14 years I can give them lots of attention. I recently lost my senior, she was 16 and half years old and now only have one dog. So plenty of time to take care of your fur baby. I'm experienced with seniors dogs, giving medications and general care. Because we have a small 10 pound dachshund we prefer a smaller friendly non-aggressive dog. Please reach out if you have any questions! I love dogs and since I work from home I feel I'm in the best position to care for one. Bonus is that my dog will have a friend. About: I’m a farm raised girl with years of animal care practice, dogs, cats, chickens, horses, goats, and donkeys. I’ve always had pets in my life and claimed the role of family dog trainer. Pets are my happy place, and I love spending time loving on dogs and cats so their owner feels more comfortable leaving home. My dog Pongo is very special to me and I know the pain of leaving him behind when it’s necessary, and also know the joy of finding someone with a big heart to care for him when I’m gone. I’m that girl with the big heart that will love and care for your furry loved ones so you can be comfortable leaving home knowing they’re well cared for. I spent a year volunteering at West Sound Wildlife which gave me experience tending to wounded animals. I’m well versed in giving animals medications and following strict diets. My schedule is very flexible at the moment which means I’m able to make your animal a top priority. I work at a local restaurant but my shifts aren’t long, at most I’ll be out of the house for five to six hours. I love getting to know each pet, what their needs are, and how to best meet those needs while I care for them. If tons of love and snuggles are required I’m happy to oblige, but I also understand the different boundaries of each individual animal and how to navigate them to earn trust. My dog Pongo gets 4-5 walks per day, some are sniff walks for mental exercise, and others are to throw a stick in the woods for him to let some energy out.
