“We had a unique situation that lead us to Eric and he was incredibly accommodating. I forgot my dog's bed and he was able to provide one. He took great care of our shepherd and sent us several photos to show us our dog was doing just fine. Eric is a super nice guy to boot! Would highly recommend!”

“Veronica and her family were amazing! She was warm and welcoming to our almost 9 year-old Frenchie, Kobe. She kept us updated with pictures and videos so we never had to wonder if our boy was doing well. We've already booked our annual vacation stay for Kobe and feel fortunate to have found the perfect sitter! With access to a backyard, Kobe had all the comforts of home. We can't say enough good things about Veronica.”

“I left my poodle-mix named Scruffy, with Megan and Brian so that I could go away with my husband for a few days to visit family. They were incredibly kind and trustworthy, and I could tell as soon as a I met them that they would be good sitters. Their own dog, Duke, is a good-natured and well behaved dog, and my dog really liked him. Their home is super clean with a cheerful and loving atmosphere. They took such good care of Scruffy, I could see when I picked him up that he had been happy and well cared for. Megan and Brian had also sent me photos of my dog throughout while I was away, which I really appreciated. As soon as you meet Megan and Brian you can see that they are genuinely good people who truly love dogs. I give my highest recommendation to them, and they will always be my first choice to sit my dog when I am traveling somewhere that I cannot bring him. 10 out of 10.”

“Kam was an absolute dream. Responsive, professional, and with a big heart for our furry loved one. We knew our baby was in good hands when we got pictures while we were away. She didn’t simply watch our dog, she played with it, took care of it, brushed it, and showed it love. It’s one thing to get a job done well, it’s another level entirely when it’s done well with such love and care. All this for an amazing price. Kam is going on our Christmas card list for sure.”

“Nilka is everything you hope for when you go on Rover looking for pet care. She treats my dog like her own. Her husband and two kids are also great. They all spoil my dog with love and attention. Nilka is so diligent with walks and photos and communication too. Top recommendation for Nilka and her family. Thank you very much!”

“Judith took my pup over the Christmas break and I was very happy with the services she provided. My doggie must have missed home and barked nearly the whole night. Judith didn't complain, just contacted us out of concern. She kept sending us pictures and updates. I was very pleased and would take Bella back to her again.”

“Brenda was absolutely amazing with my dog! From the moment I dropped her off, I felt completely at ease. She constantly kept me updated with messages, pictures, and videos, which meant so much and really helped me relax while I was away. It was so clear that my dog was being well cared for. Brenda was always taking her on walks and spending time playing with her. When I picked her up, of course my baby missed me, but I could truly tell she had formed such a loving bond with Brenda. It was obvious that my dog adored her, and that Brenda genuinely loved her right back. Finding someone you trust with your dog isn’t easy, but Brenda exceeded every expectation. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, attentive, and loving sitter!”

I had the best experience with Nachay! She updated me frequently and was always very responsive. She made sure Teddy was comfortable and happy during his 6 day stay. It was my first time leaving Teddy and I was so anxious but immediately she made me feel at ease with the updates. Teddy even made friends with the other dogs there. I will definitely be rebooking with her!! And recommend her to everyone who would rather have a more fluid and flexible boarding/daycare experience for their pup.

Lisa took such amazing care of Ruffles while we were away for 3 weeks. She sent daily updates with photos and videos that really put our minds at ease while we were miles away. We will absolutely be using Lisa again for our future needs and highly recommend her for your fur babies!

Thank You So Much, Ellen, for providing such wonderful care for Ozzy while we were away! Ellen bought fruits for Ozzy when we forgot to bring extra healthy snacks! It was truly a blessing that Ozzy got to stay at Ellen's meticulously clean house with the enchanting backyard!
We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter! From the moment we met her, we felt completely comfortable leaving our fur baby in her care. She was reliable, attentive, and genuinely loving. We received regular updates and photos which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Thank you, Grace!

Erica did a great job babysitting our two dogs while we were on vacation. She communicated with us every single day, kept us updated with how they were doing, and gave us peace of mind while we were gone. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy person sitter!

Vanessa took very good care of both our pups. It seamed that they felt right at home when we picked them up. While the pups were happy to see us, they were also very comfortable at Vanessa's. It was our first time having Vanessa take care of our pups, and we are very happy we found someone so caring. She shared great pictures and videos during our time away, it was very helpful.

This was Rory’s second stay with Julie. Julie is amazing! Rory had such a good time her first stay she dragged me to Julie’s door on our second visit. Julie is very caring and Rory got plenty of playtime outdoors in Julie’s fenced in yard. Julie is a pleasure to work with, very flexible, and Rory will definitely come back.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
