“Paulina R. was great! My partner and I have never left our cats alone with someone who wasn't family before, and while we were very nervous about doing this for the first time, we needn't have worried with Paulina taking care of our babies. She made sure our 3 cats had meals on time, fresh water, got to play, and received lots of cuddles. She even somehow managed to make our really shy and anxious boy, Chompirras, feel safe enough to come out (he literally never comes out of hiding when strangers are at the house) and actually eat (he often goes on hunger strike for a day or two when we're not at home). Next time we're out of town, we'll be booking with Paulina :)”

“Holly is great! She’s so kind, caring, and understanding. I had the opportunity to puppy sit for Milton. Milton is wild and crazy and she was nothing but calm and amazing energy. Holly will definitely be my go-to sitter/ walker. Thank you, Holly!”

“Kendel was great house sitting for our dog Pan. Before we left, she came by twice to get to know us a bit and then to pick up the key. While we were gone, she sent pictures and updates for us regularly to let us know that he was ok. When we came home, he was acting like his normal happy self—not always the case when we haven’t been home. Kendel did a great job keeping us and the fur baby relaxed and happy while we were traveling.”
“Haleigh is amazing! She was so great with our 2 pups. They absolutely love her! In addition to taking care of our dogs, she took excellent care of our home while we were away. We will definitely be booking with Haleigh again!”

About: With years of hands-on experience caring for my own two dogs, and two cats, plus growing up surrounded by family dogs, I bring genuine, lifelong pet care knowledge! During the week, I have a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate ample time to walking and caring for pets to make sure that they pets receive the attention and exercise they need! Safety and trust are my top priorities when walking pets. I will use whatever leash or harness provided by the owner that is well-fitted to ensure control and comfort. I stay vigilant, avoiding potentially hazardous areas and always checking for traffic before crossing streets. I prioritize a calm and friendly environment, allowing pets to explore safely while providing positive reinforcement and plenty of affection. Your pets well-being is my utmost concern, and I treat them with the same care and respect as I would my own!
“It was great having Mo stay at our house over the long weekend. We were sad to not have our pups camping with us but it was nice to know they were in good hands! Received many great photos of our pets relaxing around the house and eating meals. Came home to no mess and happy animals. Would definitely hire her again in the future!”

“Jody did a great job for us while we were away on vacation. Our 2 dogs enjoyed her company and she even worked with our pup on walking etiquette. We left rather detailed instructions, including watering outside plants, and she followed them to a T. I would highly recommend booking with Jody and we will be also!”

“We had a wonderful experience with Kayla! She took excellent care of our dog and gave us peace of mind while we were away. We received regular updates, photos, and messages, which gave us confidence that our dog was happy and well cared for. It was clear that she genuinely loves animals and treated our dog like one of her own. We came home to a happy, relaxed pup, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We would definitely book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!”
“Mark has sat for us a few times and we absolutely love him!! He takes such good care of our babies and we have a lot of them and he treats them as his own when he’s here! I can’t recommend him enough!!”

“Nhi was able to watch our dog on short notice, and even made time to meet him in advance. He gets nervous when we’re away but she made sure he ate and he even played with her- thank you Nhi!”

“If I could give 100 more stars, I would! Please don’t hesitate to book Rebecka. She is an absolute gem! Actually, I’m having a hard time giving this review since I want to keep her all to myself! 😉 Rebecka was incredibly reliable, went above and beyond to care for my dog (who got sick while I was gone) and kept me updated with photos and check ins throughout the stay. My dog clearly loved Rebecka, and I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands. Rebecka stayed at my home and after a long travel day, I came into a clean, tidy and organized house, with a very happy and well cared for dog. Perfect! Highly, highly recommended!”

“Logan is so kind and was so attentive to our pup! We definitely plan on using his services again. We feel very lucky to have found him on Rover. We are new to it, and I was skeptical about how it would work but Logan is a gem!”

“We booked Nicole for a week of in-home sitting and she did a great job taking care of our corgi, Poppy (and fish)! She was very responsive to communication and provided regular photos/updates so we knew how Poppy was doing. Definitely can recommend!”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Shrewsbury is $60
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Shrewsbury
We had a great experience with Logan! She took wonderful care of our dog while staying at our house over the weekend. We really appreciated the regular updates and photos, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. Our dog was happy, well cared for, and our home was just as we left it. We would definitely recommend her and would happily book her again!

Julie is THE VERY BEST! We have three older dogs who can be challenging. She gave them such loving attention and care. Julie always kept us abreast of their status with updates and photos. When we got home, our dogs were happy to see us, but they didn’t seem as jubilant as they normally do. THAT’S A TESTAMENT to Julie. THEY LOVED HER!!! And that’s what every family should want for their pups. Have no reservations about hiring Julie. We will be using her services again in the future. Thank you, Julie!

Louca is an amazing dog sitter! He stayed in our home while we were away for a long weekend and took exceptional care of our dog. He followed all of our instructions carefully and kept us updated with regular messages and photos, which gave us great peace of mind while we were away. We truly appreciate his reliability, professionalism, and genuine care for our pet. We are very grateful for his support and look forward to working with him again in the future. Highly recommended!

Tara was wonderful! She watched our two cats for a week while we were away and also helped take care of our home. She showed up promptly for a meet and greet before her stay and was warm and friendly with our cats. She stayed in excellent contact with us throughout our trip, and sent lots of adorable pictures. It’s clear that she adores cats and she was a perfect houseguest, as well. We would absolutely book Tara again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shrewsbury walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shrewsbury maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shrewsbury choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Shrewsbury. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
